Do you get a mug per person on the dining plan?

Well that is cool! This is the first year they have done this right? I thought on the cs plan they only had one cup per room in the past so this is really a nice perk- wish it was free refills anywhere in WDW- but don't we all!? Lol

We are going in August 2012 for our first DW trip. We have the free dining plan, and I've heard mixed reports on where those mugs can be refilled. Is it JUST at your own resort, or anywhere? How can people tell which resort you are from, with your mug?

Thanks.

Alison

The quick service dining plan and the deluxe dining plan has always had the mugs one per person. The regular dining plan (1cs 1ts and 1 snack)doesn't come with mugs but next year they will be included. Oh and the baby won't get a mug as the dining plans are for 2 and older.

I do wish it was free every where but they can be a hassle to carry around in the parks.

i knew the baby wouldn't get one...but i was pretty excited about everyone else getting their own. That way we can all get different things! DD is not getting DH's coke! LOL

Is there any options other than pop for the refillable mugs? cause we don't let DD have pop

You can't get juice or milk with the mug. The soda machines have tea, lemonade, and something like a sports drink if my memory serves me right. You can also get coffee and hot chocolate in the am with your mug. There is also a water dispenser too.

To the above poster:
Yes you can get coffee and hot chocolate with those.

Also to another poster who asked "how would they know".
Well it's just a rumor (but I have it in good faith it's true) that they are doing testing out at one of the All Star (or maybe its POP) with new mugs (that looks identical but have a computer chip in them). The technology is fairly simple. You put the drink under a beverage option and if it shows you are in fact staying at the resort it will work. It's just another way to penny pinch. Many people bring back their resort mugs from previous trips since there is really no way to know. BUT with this new system your resort mug will work for, say 14 days from purchase and POSSIBLY (although this i am not sure about) only at your resort. I don't know/see why they would make it only work at your own resort, if you you're staying at Music, why shouldn't you be able to get a drink at Movies? So all I have heard is that the new mugs will have time codes on them but no word if that will affect you from using them at various resorts.

It's at one of the AllStars and is NOT a rumor. Disney has been very open about testing this new system. I don't know that they are programming to limit to just one resort, but to a time frame. It really doesn't hurt Disney to let you refill at another resort on the same trip. Especially when so many do split stays.

Ok, now I'm really bummed out! I got the free QS for free so I upgraded to the Regular DP. It seemed worth it since we were planning to do the Luau and a few other TS. The cost to upgrade was only slightly more than it would have been JUST to do the Luau so the rest is a bonus (in my opinion). Anyway, I had NO IDEA that now I don't get the mugs?? :(

If you're traveling before the end of 2011, correct, the 2011 regular dining plan does not include credits for refillable mugs.

Thanks for the quick response! It seems pretty ridiculous to think that I put up more $$ to upgrade but don't get the mug. I know the mug isn't that much $$ but I guess that's the point. It makes no sense to me. Oh well...

WHEN IS YOUR TRIP? if it's in 2011, then you do not get the mugs... it's possible, however, that you could downgrade back to free QS w/out a penalty, it might be worth it to ask... if your trip is in 2012, then you will get the mugs w/the basic DDP...

Just wondered :) thanks - we are doing the plus dinning

danielephant, where did you get your ticker? I have seen these around on some posts and would like to use it myself, but I haven't found it yet!
