I booked room only yesterday and now am contemplating adding on the DDP. I am wondering how you know it is worth it?
we have two dinners booked, 1900 park fare and fantasmic dining package and possibly bomas.
It is a three night stay.
At what point is it cheaper to pay OOP with two adults and two kids (3,4)
thanks

Check out the menus/prices here on these boards or at allears and total up the cost of your meals. Then compare it to the DDP plans. That's the best way to figure it out.

You can only do the DDP with a package, so if you already have tickets from somewhere besides Disney (you said you booked a room-only), you cannot add on the DDP without buying at least a one-day ticket.

Sharon is right. And when they offer it for free you have to buy a 2 day base ticket.

check menu prices on allears.net and then also add what you would eat for lunch and a snack. MYWD plan where you get the counter service and a table service and a snack each day of stay is well worth it to us but one must decide on what they will eat.:thumbsup2 you do have to buy the package with tickets to get free dining.

Remember Disney is on 43 sq. miles. There is no fast food across the street. Disney fast food costs the same as fine dining in the real world. If you eat one sit down meal a day, get the dining plan. It's better to pay upfront than to worry later on. The portions are huge, also. You can share CS meals.

Well one of the best deals with the DDP is children. The price of the children's buffets at Boma and 1900 PF are already more than the price of 1 day on the DDP. You are saving anywhere from $3.14 - $10 (depending on this year or next and if you are going during peak) off the buffet price AND THEN getting the child CS and Snack as well. For the adults - worst case scenario is you have to spend about $14 on CS and snack to break even which is very easy to do by the time you figure entree, drink, and dessert for CS plus the snack. And that is the worst case, you will most likely need to spend less than that to break even.

It's also very easy to share CS meals for breakfast and lunch to stretch them to cover all 3 meals. We would get a Bounty platter for DH and I to split or an omelet and the boys would split the kids Mickey waffles, two waffles and bacon for them. Or sometimes my mom and I would split by getting two pastries.

Anyway, given the ADRs you want/have and the makeup of your party, I think yes, you would probably save some money going with the DDP.
