get a character dining reservation anywhere this coming weekend and its a slow weekend (at least Fri & Sun are)
I really want the little guy to get to experience a character meal with Mickey... I'm going to keep checking but right now looks like I have to go to AK at 8 and just put our name on the list at Tusker House.
I myself have double booked because I knew reservations would be gone and i wasnt sure what our plan was. I always cancelled as soon as I knew but still. They said after the 26th there will be a CC required when I called today.

I understand your frustration, but with last than a week to go, did you really expect to get something? People are booking 180 days out - and I don't think it'll change that much when a cc is required.

Not sure why you thought it would be slow. It's the middle of F&W, it's the weekend, and when are popular character meals ever slow???

Sorry, but that sounds kind of like expecting to walk up to TSMM at 2:00 and being surprised that the ride isn't a walk-on.

Well no I am completely understanding of the last minute thing but I can guarantee you there will be reservations for Friday that will not actually show up. I see / hear about it all the time, people not cancelling etc. If I thought everyone who booked was coming then I would accept it was just the last minute thing...

Not exactly the same at all actually, Friday and Sunday despite MNSSHP and F&W and the golf tournie are still "slow" for WDW.

There really aren't any more "slow" times, not compared to how it used to be. There are just times that are slower than others. And if you want a character meal reservation (you're narrowing it down a lot more by requiring one that includes Mickey; I think there's only four of those) they're hard to come by even in the slower times.

Yes, there probably will be those who make reservations and don't show up. Which is what WDW appears to be trying to prevent with its new policy.

If this thread is meant to discuss the new policy, it'll be closed, because there is one central thread at this time for discussion of the credit card guarantee changes. If someone cares to assist the OP with where she might look for a reservation, it can stay open. She should try checking the October cancelled reservations thread, for one thing, it's not too late for guests to cancel.

As the OP has clarified that her post is basically about the new ADR policy, I'm going to need to close this...since we have one thread for discussion of that policy.
