23 Nights, 40 ADRS, too many food pics to count!! COMPLETED 01/22!

Can't wait for your reviews of Cali Grill and Yachtsman as we're trying both of those for the first time on our next trip. :goodvibes You definitely made me want to try Jikos!

I do not like seafood, but Narccosees is my favorite Disney restaurant so far.

We are not huge fans of the Sci Fi food either, but the atmosphere is too cool for us to not enjoy again.

That Smores cupcake looks amazing, and is not on my list of things to try. Thanks for the heads up.

We are eating at Jiko on DS birthday this December. It will be our first time, so we are very excited. Based on your reviews and others, I have a feeling it could top our list of favorites.

Joining in and now I'm all caught up!

Great reviews.....you've eaten some really lovely meals!

That appetizer from Jiko looks great, wish I could try it!

Love reading your reviews! I am drooling over Smores Cupcake. Excellent choice for breakfast!!! :thumbsup2 I bet you all the sugar rush really wakes you up and get you ready for the parks.

I would love to return to Jiko. We had an excellent meal there in the past. Your Duck Barbarie looks delish~~~

I should be able to get Yachtsman done in the next couple of days, and hope you enjoy Jiko if you give it a try.

The smokes cupcake was really good. Really hope you enjoy Jiko, I think it's definitely up there with Narcoosees so hopefully you'll have a fantastic meal.

Thank you. I know, where else would you have a cupcake for breakfast! The duck at Jiko was really good, as was the entire meal.

We’d picked up some Starring rolls cupcakes as we were leaving DHS yesterday to have for breakfast. I chose the Red velvet cheesecake, this was absolutely delicious, not too sweet, plenty of tangy cream cheese frosting on top of soft red velvet cake.
DH chose the Marble cupcake, this was also good but had a huge amount sweet frosting, and chocolate buttercream in the centre of the cake as well. He ate half that morning and the rest later.

We spent the morning in DTD and had 1pm reservation at Wolfgang Pucks. We checked in and were seated immediately, it was actually very busy but looked like mostly business people, as 80% of diners were dressed in formal work wear.

I ordered a diet coke to drink and the crab cakes to start. These were really tasty, a little hint of spice, lots of flavourful crab meat, accompanied by a tangy tomato basil sauce and topped with a fresh tomato salsa.
IMG_1034.jpg

DH ordered calamari, which was a huge portion. The rings were slightly rubbery but had a well seasoned coating and a very nice sweet curry aioli for dipping.
IMG_1035.jpg

For my main I chose the soup and sandwich combo; Chicken aioli pocket, and butternut squash soup. The Chicken pocket was ok, I thought the filling was a little bland, lots of salad, chicken pieces and mayo, but the bread was lovely and soft. The soup was tasty, I wasn’t keen on orange drizzle on top, it was quite tart and didn’t think it worked with sweetness of soup. This was accompanied with home made chips, these were quite thick and crunchy and lightly salted.
IMG_1036.jpg

DH chose the Chefs sampler. This consisted of a spicy tuna roll, five peices of nigri, sashimi and edamane beans. The tuna roll was delicious, lott of fresh tuna and avocado filling, quite spicy but it didn’t overpower the tuna flavour and the rice was nicely seasoned. The Nigri was all fresh, the salmon and tuna being DH’s favourite, the tuna sashimi was actually seared on outside, rare on inside and the Edamane was nicely salted. Overalll a nice, well balanced sushi plate.
IMG_1037.jpg

We were both getting full so decided to share the snickers cheesecake. This was very rich, good cheesecake, topped with chocolate and caramel sauce and big chunks of a snickers bar. The cheesecake was quite tangy so it wasn’t too sweet even with the chocolate sauce.
IMG_1039.jpg

We stopped by the Candy Cauldron afterwards to use up some snack credits. As opposed to Goofys which always seems super busy, there was absolutely no one in here and they had a very similar selection to Goofys. We picked up red velvet cake pop (soft cake, thick chocolate, sugar crystals), a strawberry (fresh strawberry, chocolate was good but not that thick), and a white chocolate peanut butter cup. These were all very good but the cake pop was probably my favourite.

Hi, just joining you. Loving all your piccies. OH would just like to say that he's never met a veggie Toon supporter lol. We have two weeks of Deluxe at Yacht Club next year and are really loving your reviews. Just off to sub :goodvibes

WP's lobster appetizer and sushi platter looks delish~ I gotta try that sometime. :goodvibes Only problem is there are so many places and we are only there for a week/year so limited time for all. :lmao:

great reviews, love the pics! I'm surprised how good the food looked at nine dragons, every review I've seen of that place has been negative.

I have "lurked" through all of reviews & have loved them all! Now that I am officially out of the shadows, I wanted to say "subbing" & can't wait for more!!:thumbsup2

That sushi looks soooo good!

It was really very good. I'd kill for some right now!

:rotfl:Yeah, you don't find many veggie toon supporters do you! Hope you enjoy the Yacht Club, we loved staying there, it's just so close to so many good restaurants.

Snickers and cheesecake. You cannot go wrong with either of those.

Very true!

Their sushi is always really good. I know what you mean about trying to squeeze too many restaurants into one trip though!

Thank you. I was surprised how nice nine dragons was, considering I'd read mostly very bad reviews. It wasn't stunning food by any means, but it was better than I was expecting.

Thank you for joining in. Next review coming right up!

We showed up a few minutes early for our 8pm reservation, we were told they were running 20 minutes behind and were asked to wait in the bar. The Crews Cup lounge was extremely crowded (mostly with people there for a conference it seemed). Yachtsman wasn’t using pagers, so the wait staff were walking around the bar trying to find parties as their tables were ready. When it’s very crowded this system just doesn’t work, I watched two cms wander round the bar for 10 minutes, and they still couldn’t find their parties.

We were called after around 15 minutes, and sat at a four top near the centre of the restaurant. It was very busy, and pretty loud, a definite contrast to Jiko the night before.

Our server was ok here, friendly but slow to greet us and bring drinks. She did bring the bread basket, including the amazing pull apart onion rolls, so good with roasted garlic.

For my appetizer I chose seared scallops served with roasted bell pepper hummus. This was very nice, scallops well cooked and paired well with the pepper hummus. My only issue was it could have been served hotter.

DH had cheese plate. This was a nice plate, similar cheeses to Jiko but not quite as good a range of accompaniments. The cheeses were Cypress Grove Creamery Mt Chopper, Beeches Cheddar, Cowgirl Creamery Mt Tam, and Roaring Forties blue. All the cheeses were good, but the Mt Tam and the blue cheese were DH’s favourites.
IMG_1044.jpg

The pacing of the meal wasn’t great here with the entrees arriving before DH had finished his cheese plate.
I picked the Fillet Mignon with mashed potatoes and Cabernet wine sauce. The fillet cooked to a perfect medium, and was a very nice cut of meat, there was very little fat and sliced very easily. The mash was so creamy and buttery it was delicious, it was a huge portion of potatoes though and it was disappointing to have to leave it. The wine sauce had good flavour to it and worked well with mash and fillet.
IMG_1045.jpg

DH chose the Salmon, which was also very well cooked to a medium rare. This was a very light dish with no real starch, as the salmon was served with peas, beetroot and baby carrots, all of which were nicely cooked. DH enjoyed this, he thought it was a similar style of dish to Artist Point but salmon was cooked better.
IMG_1046.jpg

For dessert I chose the Lemon Pudding cake. This was served with a blueberry shake, Mt Tam cheese and Fruit Leather. The Lemon pudding incredibly moist, with a strong lemon flavour, and was only a little portion so made a nice light end to meal. The Blueberry shake was also good, creamy in texture with a strong blueberry flavour. The Mt tam cheese was nice, but didn’t go with rest for of the plate for me. It was basically a small piece of grilled cheese with sultanas and dried fruit, this was too much of a contrast between sweet and savoury for my tastes.
IMG_1049.jpg

DH chose the Chocolate-Peanut:Chocolate brownie, smoked peanut panna cotta and vanilla gelato. The chocolate brownie cake was moist, with a good chocolate flavour, which paired well with the smooth peanut panna cotta. The gelato was served in a mini cone, which was clever presentation. Overall a lovely dessert.
IMG_1050.jpg

After we’d settled the check we were given a plate of candy for our anniversary, this consisted of apricot jelly sweets and chocolate covered salted caramel, which was a very nice end to meal.
IMG_1051.jpg

Overall we enjoyed this meal, but was probably our least favourite signature of the trip. The restaurant was very loud, the meal wasn’t very well paced, and the food was good but not amazing. We will return, but if I had to skip a signature restaurant, this would probably be the one we’d drop.

We had 7:35 reservation at 'Ohana and were sat at a two top by the window as soon as they started seating. We were in a great location as the characters came out a few tables behind us, so we saw all four before 8am.

The place filled up quite quickly, but because it’s family style it didn’t seem anywhere an near as loud or chaotic as Chef Mickeys, making it a reasonably relaxed atmosphere for character meal

Our server was good, brought fruit plate and drinks promptly. The POG juice was delicious, and had about 3 glasses.

We started with the welcome breads which were gorgeous. The cinamon raisin was our favourite, so moist and sticky, the pineapple-coconut were good too and this was our favourite part of meal.
IMG_1069.jpg

The fruit was nice and ripe, and we managed to eat most of it. It took a while for hot plate to be delivered, and once it did it had to be sent back as had meat on it. Therefore we got the mickey waffles first. These were also good, very hot and fresh.

IMG_1071.jpg

The hot Platter the arrived with the meat on side. The sausage was good, with a slightly spicy taste, and not too greasy. I’m not a bacon fan so left that, the scrambled eggs were nicely seasoned and hot, the potatoes were good with a crispy coating. I didn’t have a biscuit but DH said it was fine, a little dry.
IMG_1073.jpg

We were offered refills of anything we wanted but declined, as we’d had enough. We settled the check by 8:15, after seeing all four characters and we were able to easily make rope drop at Magic Kingdom.

Was it just me or did that salmon from Yachtsman, although beautiful, look like it has hair&is flying? Thanks for the reviews, hearing the Yachtsmen was loud kind of made my mind up for me - a loud Signature + 3 kids = perfect for us:thumbsup2

The filet and potatos look amazing. I really need some of that cinnamon bread too.

Mmmm looks yummy! I can never do breakfast buffets because I can't eat that much in the morning :rotfl:
