All caught up! Enjoyed reading both Yachtsmans and Ohanas. Yachtsmans we didn't go this trip but Ohanas breakfast we went.... and enjoyed it alot. It was the best character interaction!

Mmm those scallops from Yachtsman look lovely. I can't wait to try those onion rolls everyone talks about.

:rotfl:I see what you mean. Hope you enjoy the Yachtsman.

Those potatoes were amazing, and the 'ohana bread was really good!

It was all very nice. I'm not that much of a breakfast person myself, I rarely bother with it at home, but with the dxdp I had to make breakfast reservations to use all the credits!

    Thank you very much.

'ohana did have great character interaction, they seemed to spend a fair bit of time with each table.

The scallops were good, hope you enjoy the onion rolls, they're delicious!

    Thank you very much.

    Thanks.

    Thank you very much.

    Thank you.

Sorry I've been a bit slow with the updates. My new job is very challenging so I'm working long hours, and a bit mentally drained by the time I get home! I'll get the next couple of updates done tonight.

After a busy morning in Magic Kingdom we took the monorail to the Poly for our 1:15 reservation at Kona. We arrived right on time and were seated quickly at a four top overlooking the lobby which was good for a bit of people watching. Kona was less than half full, meaning it was reasonably quiet.

Our server here was fine, she was training another server, who brought refills promptly and paced meal well. To start I had the sweet potato and lemon grass soup, this had a nice texture, but i felt the lemon grass overpowered the sweet potato flavour. It was still good, but not great.

DH chose the lump crab cakes, these were really tasty, with lots of fresh crab and a hint of spice.. They were served with asian tartar and cold noodle salad which worked well with the crab.

For my entree I chose fish tacos, tilapia fillet served with mango mayonaise and tomato salsa. These were really good, soft thick taco shells, filled with fresh well cooked tilapia n topped with salad and a slightly spicy salsa. This was served with a pasta salad, the pasta was well cooked and the sauce cream based but had a tangy flavour.

DH chose sustainable fish of the day. He didn’t ask what the fish was, but it was a white fish similar to grouper. Served on black rice and spinach which gave some body to the dish. Fish was served very hot and was nicely cooked.

For desert DH chose the lava cake. This had good chocolate flavour but it was a little overcooked so there was no molton centre. It was still good but would have been much better if cooked for a couple of minutes less.

I chose the kona cone. This was a really fun dessert, a huge ice cream cone filled with vanilla and chocolate ice cream, topped with chocolate sauce, sprinkles, and a mickey head chocolate. Candy floss was wrapped round bottom and m&ms sprinked on the plate. I really liked this but it was very big and I couldn’t finish it even with Dh’s help.

We both enjoyed our lunch here. We haven’t been here for dinner for a few years but I remember it being very busy and quite hectic. As it was much emptier at lunch it was a more relaxed atmosphere and we’d definitely do lunch here again.

We decided to have a night in tonight. Room service was two credits each, the food is mostly from Captains Grille so it’s not really signature quality but it’s very convenient.

We shared two appetisers. The crab cake was good but a small portion with only one crab cake. It was very tasty, probably better than Kona’s DH had for lunch. Very little filler, lots of fresh crab meat, nice balance of spice.

The Mozzarella tomato salad was also good, thick slices mozzarella, and tomato, served with a balsamic and olive oil dressing, which worked well with the cheese and tomato.

For my entree I chose chicken with seasonal accompaniments. This was a big chicken breast still on bone, which had good flavour but was a little dry, It was served with butter beans, in a very buttery sauce, I loved the beans but sauce had too much butter for me.

DH chose fish of day which was salmon. The salmon was nice and moist and had a lot of flavour, the risotto well cooked but lacked flavour, I think it was asparagus flavour but you really couldn’t tell.

We split two desserts. The turtle cheesecake was good, a kind of chocolate caramel flavour cheesecake with oreo cookie crust and nut chocolate brittle on top.

The chocolate hazelnut cake was presented really nicely, I loved the little chocolate spoon on the plate. The cake was moist, with plenty of buttercream and a crispy chocolate layer on the bottom which added a nice texture. We felt it was a little bland though, and it was just an ok dessert for us.

Aside from the crab cake none of the room service food was fantastic, but for convenience alone we’d do it again.

We grabbed breakfast from the Beach Club Marketplace again today. I chose a Chocolate twist, this was nice, loads of chocolate chips, topped with sweet icing. The pastry was alright but didn’t taste that fresh.

DH chose Apple pie. This was really good, big chunks of apple, a nicely balanced cinnamon flavour, buttery pastry and crumble topping. It was very filling but he managed the whole thing.

We had an 11:30 reservation at Tusker House, for which we checked in at 11:20. There was no queue to check in and they were taking walk ups. We were one of first parties seated meaning the restaurant was very quiet and there were no queues at the buffet.

My First plate: cornbread (nice sweetness and moist), vegetable samosas (thick pastry, moist potato and pea fillng, reasonably spicy), salmon (hot, flaky, well cooked), potato wedges (nicely seasoned, crispy skin but soft centre), tofu curry (lots of flavour, lightly spiced) and corn dog nuggets (I know they’re on the kids section, but I love these and we can’t get them in England.)

DH’s first plate: pitta bread and hummus (both very nice) salmon, tofu curry, mash potatoes (very creamy, with a strong garlic flavour), cous cous salad, shrimp curry (he enjoyed this) and some type of sweetcorn bread (this was very dense, and didn’t have a particularly strong flavour).

My second plate: chicken curry (lots of flavour but not too spicy, a mix of white and dark meat, very nice), rice (well cooked), another corn dog, mashed potato (soo good!!), cous cous (nice, slightly sweet in flavour), pitta bread, hummus and tabbouleh (all good)

DH’s second plate - cornbread and butter, hummus, tabbouleh, samosa, a couple of different chutneys, plantain, sticky rice (he wasn’t that keen on this, saying it was bland) more seafood curry (he said this was very good, consisting of scallops, shrimp, salmon, not very spicy but it had lots of flavour)

For dessert I had banana bread pudding which was very good, soft, dense pudding, strong banana flavour, pecans added crunchy texture served with creamy vanilla custard. I also had fruit cobbler which again very good, tart fruit and a flaky pastry topping, a chocolate cup filled with strawberry mousse and a brownie.

DH also had bread pudding and the cobbler which he agreed were good. He had a coconut macaroon which had a strong coconut flavour and was very moist, a lemon bar which was a pastry base and lemon curd filling, good but the lemon flavour could have been a little tarter for me, and a pecan bar, very sweet with plenty of pecan filling.
Overall we had another very nice meal. It was reasonably quiet, lots of selection particularly good for vegetarian food, everything was hot and fresh and was good value at $20.99.

It was very hot in AK and on our way out of the park I used a snack credit for a frozen lemonade. This melted quite quickly in the heat, but was very refreshing.

The Kona cone looks good. I had to take a break to eat after seeing the mozarella tomato salad. It looked so good that it made me hungry. Your plates at the buffet appeal to me more than your DH's. Mini corn dogs are great! I would have gotten some too.

    OMG :worship: the Kona Cone!!

Lunch at Tusker looks really good. We had such bad service at breakfast a couple years back that we stopped going but may have to try it again.

The tomato salad was very nice, the kona cone was better though! I seriously love those corn dog nuggets, I wish I could get them over here.

Yeah it's a long time, but it makes for a really fun and kind of relaxing holiday. We tend to do three days at each park as a minimum, so it means we easily have to time to fit everything in and ride our favourites multiple times.

We've always enjoyed Tusker but not sure how it will change in the future with it being a character meal. We haven't tried breakfast there but may give it a go in the future, if so I hope we have better service than you did!

That sure is one long trip.. We just got back in August from 10 days in wdw,and 5 days outside to do sw/us. People also thought I was nuts. I drove my dh, and my co workers nuts when making my adr's, and constantly changing them. I had so much fun doing it. We ended up bumping our flight and were very compensated by southwest, that we are heading to the florida beaches in February, no disney. Then we are probably going back this August again. I told dh, I am staying in the park for at least 12 days this time. We want to be able to relax some days and just enjoy the resort, and other things. We did so much running, we really didnt relax much... We did the deluxe dining plan, and it was so worth it. So many people say it is way to much food, but I like eating well. So we did a one credit late breakfast or early lunch, and did a signature restaurant each night. The food was incredible. We did go wrong with our snack credits. For some odd reason, we saved them, and brought a little cooler in with us each day with water and juices. We will use them immediately this next trip. I cant wait to start making my reservations.. :wizard:

Apple pie - the breakfast of champions:rotfl: I have been reading your reviews but haven't had much time to comment. They are fantastic as always, and I can't believe how quick you are with the updates, I'm struggling and I'm now back home!!

It was a long trip but it does make it more relaxing. I loved planning the ADRs, I switched things up so many times I think DH thought I was nuts by the end of it. The Deluxe plan is a lot of food but we enjoy TS dining and as we go during free dining we easily get our moneys worth.
Every time we say we're not going to save snack credits and just use them near the beginning, and every time we end up with about 20 to use in the last two days!!

The fish and in the fact the entire lunch at Kona was very nice.

Thank you, hope you enjoy the Chai Cream, we loved it.

Thank you very much. I'm really pleased my reviews are useful.
