Wishes in Catsablanca: 7.22.13 Epcot Wedding PJ&TR! Updated 03/09/15

I love the idea for the invitations! And your color pallete is gorgeous! Is there a website you used to make it?

I love the ideas for the invitations! Those books would be so cool, looking forward to what you come up with!

OMG! I love those invitations! I wish I had thought to done something like that--- too late now! But they are PERFECT! :lovestruc

I like the color inspiration a lot too! Nice!

And I'm sorry you're missing DF. I live far away from my family too (I moved to Wisconsin from Connecticut last year)--- but I kind of like it. :lmao: Hope you feel better!
I know, I really love those invites. I just hope I can do them as well as (or perhaps even half as well as) the ones I posted.

I don't mind being away from my family too, too much, it's very nice to feel independent ;), but I could do with seeing my DF a few more times... more than once a month would be nice, but unfortunately too expensive, especially with airfare prices. Oh well!

love the invitations, how fun
I can't wait to get started on them! :cutie:

Thank you! I used photoshop to put together my colour palette, but there were a few websites I visited before I started putting it together:

Beautiful.
:goodvibes Thanks!

Love love LOVE the invites and your color scheme! Beautiful!!
Thank you, I really love them too! So excited to start working on everything!

So my DF finally sent me a photo of my glasses! :cool1:

I can't wait to drink some champagne out of them! :rotfl:

In other news last night my MOH and I were working on my list of music ideas for the ceremony, etc. Which led me to learn that she and I have VERY different tastes in music! And since my DF and I also have pretty different tastes in music in this is going to be quite a challenge. It was my first real wedding planning moment with MOH which was really nice, even if most of the music she was suggesting will be no where near my actual wedding day. Anyway, here is the list I've got going so far. I'm still trying to think of something fun for a possible Mickey and Minnie entrance, but that's pretty tricky too. Does anyone know, are there any limitations on the music that can be played when the characters arrive (besides, I guess, obviously no really inappropriate swearing, etc.)?

Ceremony Seating Ideas:
-Glasgow Love Theme (Love Actually)
-Portuguese Love Theme (Love Actually)
-Mrs. Darcy (Pride and Prejudice 2005)
-Married Life (Up)

Ceremony Music Ideas:
-The Man I Love (Benny Goodman)
-Concerning Hobbits (Fellowship of the Ring)
-Someday my Prince Will Come (Snow White)

Recessional Ideas:
-Breathless (The Corrs)
-Wouldn’t it be Nice (The Beach Boys)

First Dance:
-Isn't it Romantic

Cake Cutting:
-As Time Goes By

Another thing I started thinking about was dancing at the reception. I really, really, really want dancing. But I've been really struggling with the possibility of having to cut it out. First of all, it's a lunch/afternoon reception. Secondly, and perhaps more significantly, DF's family doesn't dance. I may have mentioned that I went to DF's cousin's wedding a few weeks ago, and pretty much his whole family left as soon as the dinner ended and the dancing began. :confused3 I've seen it before, but I still find it so odd. Anyway...

But dancing has always been very important to me. In my family I can picture about 7 or 8 people who I know would definitely dance, including DF and I, perhaps a few more. So up until now we've been thinking we should just cut out the dancing (even though I desperately want it) because it would be just awkward with so few people up there.

Yesterday, however, I was watching some DFTW things on youtube,, and I really love how fun it looks when the characters arrive and start dancing with everyone. And I'm assuming that in a location like Bistro de Paris the dance floor would be pretty small and make it all look less awkward... maybe? So I'm back to debating if it would be worth it. Would the characters encourage others to get up and at least approach the dance floor? I don't know, I'm really struggling with this. Does anyone have any thoughts or similar experiences?

I say go for the dancing! It seems to be something you really want, and you don't want to look back and have any regrets. And if there's only 7 or 8 people dancing, so what??? You guys will be having fun! And I think the characters would help with dancing, but either way, do it!

Nichole sweetie - just catching up and I am loving everything!!! I particularly like the invitation books. They are really unusual!!!

I like your music ideas so far - obviously you have to have As Time Goes By!! I think that if you want dancing you should have dancing. Here's how I would think about it - if you don't have it you'll probably be thinking about what it would be like if you did. And if you did have it, you'll either have people dancing or just a few people dancing. If it is just a few people dancing (including yourself), which would make you feel worse? That, or thinking about what it would be like if you were dancing? ;) As long as you've got a few friends or whatever on the dance floor with you I think you'll be fine!

Thank you for your advice! :goodvibes I think I've finally decided to just go with dancing, because you're right, even if we don't dance too much it's better not have any regrets.

You've definitely made a lot of good points! It will be much worse to be disappointed at having no dancing, than have just me and a few others dancing. The second choice will definitely be the more fun option, for me anyway!

Oh... so many great music choices!
Thank you! It was surprisingly difficult to come up with some of them.

Thank you guys your comments and for your input about the dance floor. I think I've decided (and subsequently convinced my DF) to add the dance floor to the budget. The fee isn't too high, and I think even if we don't use it as much as I'd like, it's worth it to not have the regrets. I don't want to be thinking about regretting things already--my wedding is still practically two years away!

Actually, since my DF and are thinking about July 22, 2013 for our wedding, we're really exactly 21 months away as of today! Yay for the small milestones. ;)

DANCE DANCE DANCE :dancer: !!!! alot can change when the time gets closer but aleast u put it in ur budget now....

I LOVE all your music choices!! Especially the "Concerning Hobbits"! We are using "Married Life" for our exit song!

Awesome mix of songs and great update!

I apologise for the very, very late responses!

I agree, there's plenty of time for changes to happen, but I feel happy about adding it into our plans. :goodvibes

Thank you! "Married Life" is such a lovely and appropriate song, I'm always so happy to see being used by so many DIS brides!

So, needless to say it has been quite a long time since my last contribution to me PJ. I'm not sure if I mentioned this before but I have a very intense school schedule that has been keeping me from the DIS far more than I would like. I'm hoping now that it's finally the holidays I will be able to catch up on my PJ and all the other lovely PJs on the DIS as well.

The only thing I have to report is that my DF and I finished our Save the Dates (alas, I find the abbreviation too awkward to write even though I know you all know what I mean ;)).

We made them to be a simple double sided postcard style. My DF digitally drew and painted the cards (except for my face, which I drew, but he painted) using Illustrator and Photoshop. We then had them printed at Kinkos on a semi-glossy medium/heavy weight cardstock, four cards per sheet. Originally we had a more glossy paper chosen, but apparently the ink wouldn't stick to the paper, so every time the printer rolled the paper back in to print the back side the ink would also roll off. At one point there were about four employees working on our print job, and they had already gone through about 20 pieces of ruined paper before they suggested switching to the semi-glossy. The fact that we only needed eight in total made us feel pretty bad about the wasted paper, but it was totally out of our hands.

We cut the cards ourselves because we can and it's also another way to cut costs. As we cut them out we left a 1/4" white border on all sides. We bought envelopes from Michaels, in a sort of antique gold colour. We were going to put clear labels on the envelopes, but I ended up handwritting them all. And we orginally intended to mail all of them, but some we hand-delievered because of all the family functions around this time of year.

For anyone who is interested, here's an approximate cost breakdown:
Printing (32 cards): $35
Envelopes (2 packs of 20 + 40% off + 15% teacher discount): $10
Postage (20 domestic stamps + 6 international): $25
Total: $70

This works out to around $2 per card. The postage purchase is skewing the numbers however, because I ended up buying more than necessary.

(I apologize for the watermark, my DF asked for it. After over a month's worth of work on it I suppose I'd want one too).

The information is pretty simple and pretty general. Even though we are planning to ask Disney for the 22nd, we decided not to write that in case there was a need to change it. Originally we were going to do some kind of RSVP reply card, basically to find out who was definitely not interested in attending. But my father suggested this might be putting too much pressure on people (basically my extended family in particular), mostly because they might see it as being given no information then being asked to make a choice. Not our intention, but I can see how some might see it this way. It worked out in our favour to ditch the reply card anyway - less printing, less money, less work. :)

Last week I also finally set to work on my "Will You Be My Bridesmaid?" project. I am still waiting to receive a few things I ordered online to arrive before I can put it all together, and it's pretty unlikely I'll be receiving them before Christmas, though that was what I was hoping for. As soon as I get those finished I'll be posting about those too.

I'm sooo happy to see that you updated your PJ, because I love your theme and you have some great, creative ideas! Your save the dates (I can never use the abbreviation either!) are so much fun. They fit your style perfectly and they came out so wonderfully.

I am OBSESSED with your Save the Dates!! They are so fun and unique! You both did a great job!

Can't wait to see your bridesmaid presents! So glad you updated!!
