possible to combine DDPs?

Hi everyone! I am new to the boards but I think this is the right place to ask.

I am currently planning my Disney Wedding for December 2012 and want to have a nice dinner after the ceremony/reception.

There will be multiple parties - me & FI, my parents, his parents, and then groups of siblings/spouses/children. Everyone will have their own room and DDP.

Is it possible to have everyone use their own dining plan points toward a group check? I want to pick up everyones drinks/tax/gratuity/etc.

Additionally, is it possible to also use TiW to get 20% off the drinks/anything extra?

No, sorry. Unless they're all staying under the same room reservation, it will have to be separate checks.

Yes, you can use the TIW for a discount on off-plan items at participating restaurants.

They'll have to run separate checks, but it should still work....I don't see why they wouldn't be able to put all the off plan stuff on your tab if you tell them in advance, and then you can pick up the whole tip....it'll just be a bit complicated figuring out how much because of the separate checks--if it's not too awkward, though, you can ask everyone to pass their receipts over to you and you can figure it out. Or, if you explain the situation, your server would probably be willing to total it up for you in the back and let you know what it is. I would think.

I traveled with a big group last year, and the separate check thing was always more complicated than it seemed like it should be!

Everyone can pay with the ddp for their portion of the bill. Ask to have all the "extras" put on your bill so you can use the tiw card. The trickiest part will be the tip. Because there will be over 6 people it will be automatic on each bill. But I'd just give the server your card and ask that the automatic tip for everyones be charged to your room.

Each group will need their own check. But you should have no problem putting everyone's "extras" on your credit card/cash/KTTW card.

Each TIW will cover 10 people. Your party sounds bigger than that. A second TIW account would be needed to cover an additional 10 people. The second 10 people would need to be put on a separate check. Automatic gratuity of 18% is added to TIW purchases.

If you are considering something like wine or champagne for everyone for a toast, I am not sure how that would tie in with the TIW card. They might allow a few bottles, but not enough to cover your entire group.

Once you select a restaurant, you need to set up a relationship with someone there who can guide you on the specifics of your affair, how to arrange a private room, how to use the benefits of TIW, as well as to discuss how to use the DDP cards so that you can pay the tip. DDP cards cover tax, to the best of my knowledge. It may be that you will have to collect everyone's payment slip to add up their tabs and calculate the tips. Since you are doing your wedding thru Disney, that would be the first place to turn to for assistance on specific help with your wedding dinner.

I'm not sure you can be positive that everyone will have DDP for their Disney stay. My DD also got married thru Disney at Sea Breeze Point on the Boardwalk, followed by dinner at Palio at the Swan (now Il Mulino). Some major participants stayed one day, some overnight only, some stayed off-site, etc. When you invite people to a wedding followed by a dinner, you must ensure they are there as your guest, and not made to pay for their own dinner. So you may need to budget more to pick up the whole tab for those who are not DDP participants.

Just to clarify- I am thinking it will be about 10 guests total, all of them related to us and committed to staying on resort & getting the dining plan. Using their (FI's family) dining points would be in lieu of hosting a rehearsal dinner. Additionally, if they were not family members and were more traditional-style guests, I would definitely plan to provide them with dinner vice asking them to pay for their own.
