Emerils & Tchoup Tchoup Question with Kids

My Mom really wants to have dinner at one of the Emeril's restaurants, but we have 3 children going with us. There will be a 12 year old, 10 year old and a 4 year old. I have no worries with the 2 older children. The 4 year old goes out all the time and for the most part is very good, but does have the occasional meltdown that a 4 year old can have. Of course you never know when that will happen. Which one of 2 would you recommend for taking children or should I tell my Mom just to forget about it?

There is no issue with taking children to either restaurant. Just remove them if they start to misbehave.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Most 4 year olds are past having meltdowns. Or at least my 3 never had tantrums after the age of 2 or 3. If you KNOW your 4 year old still does that and has had occasion to do it in the middle of restaurants then I wouldn't take them. Or if you do, remove the child when they start going down for the count. There is nothing worse than trying to have a nice dinner and having to listen to someone let their kid scream and cry a few tables away and do nothing about it.

friendly. our son is special needs and had no problems.

we've all been there with our kids:guilty:, the key is to remove the the child before they go into full blown tantrum.

After a long day in the parks, kids are tired and many not happy to sit for 1-1/2 hours for a fine dining experience.

OP you might want to consider booking early, more kids seem to be in evidence then. Also, the onsite hotels do offer day care, we've used it @ PBH in the past

Thanks for your replies everyone. She is very good most of the time, but when extremely tired can be very whiney. However, we did have a late dinner (7 pm) for her brothers birthday at a Japanese restaurant last week which took about 2 hours. She was absolutely wonderful. I couldn't of asked for a better child. And again Wednesday when we went out for a birthday party dinner and was out for an extended time. So I think I might schedule it for our last night there, early dinner and just pray. I don't have anything big planned that day. It will just be a day to hit whatever rides we want to do one more time before leaving plus a Grinch Breakfast. So she shouldn't get too tired.

Thanks Again!

One thing I noticed when we were at Emeril's and Tchoup Chop (this could have changed) was that they fed the kids way quicker than the adults. I thought that was a great idea.

Sometimes I find this good and others I don't. Problem is you just never know which way it will go. Most of the time though my kids seem to get antsy if they get their food before we do and they are waiting on us to finish. A lot of times I tell the waiter/waitress to bring theirs with the adults. Especially if we order appetizers that they can snack on while waiting for dinner.

I would check out the menu's to see what food they would enjoy better. To us Tchoup Choup is a hidden gem & the most beautiful & calming place. But not in a overly fancy way. I would choose Tchoup Choup over Emerils but I think my kids would enjoy it more. Service wise They are both great.

We've dined at both places quite a few times with our children and they have always asked if we would prefer the kids' meals to come out quick or with ours. As far as I know, it's always the parents' choice.
