"There’s NO Sleeping in Disney!” SURPRISE - The Frumps Are Back Again! UPDATE 1/13

The Pre-Trip Report... All In One Post!

June 30th-August 18th 2011

Alright so... I wasn't planning on doing an update till next week since I am having a SUPER busy weekend. However, thanks to various delays yesterday and random spare time this afternoon, I have pieced together the first update!

This is a special treat because we're getting an earlier start on the Trip Report than I thought! Woohoo!!

We're still in the introductory stage of the report... but this post is quite necessary. I need to explain the whole planning process of this trip because it was very unique.

This was not your typical disney family vacation that you throw together every year. No, sir! This trip took SO much planning, convincing, hard work, coordination, etc. So I'm basically going to relay my entire summer vacation to you right now. (the Disney details, of course.)

It is a long post (sorry about that!) but this way, well all be on the same page.

And plus... I'm sure Kristen doesn't know about a lot of this stuff! So it'll be fun for her to read all about the other perspective!

Let the Pre-Trip Report Begin!

June 30th, 2011

This is where it all began. My friend Alicia was hanging out at my house on the night of June 30th. We were looking at the Disney Food Pictures thread. (I'm not even kidding... my friends and I do that kind of stuff. Am I pathetic? nahh. We're cool. )

We kept scrolling through pages and pages of food, and we kept obsessing over the pictures of Disney Pizza. We just love Disney Pizza! It's so good and we wanted some so bad.

I always had the idea in the back of my mind that I should go down to Disney with Kristen in August, and then looking at these food pictures made a realization occur to me:

Alicia and I should go down to Disney! And not only that... we should COMPLETELY surprise Kristen! It would be great!

So basically this trip was thought of because we are obsessed with Pizza. You didn't expect that one, now did ya? hahaha

Alicia was totally in, and we started looking into the trip and deciding on what foods we wanted to eat. I talked to my Mom about the idea, and she said she'd talk more about it after my Grad Party. (which was on July 3rd)

July 4th, 2011

Here's a picture from 4th of July... just so you can see what Alicia looks like. She's the blonde one.

July 6th, 2011

So my Grad Party came and went. Kristen stayed over at my house from July 1st-6th, since her family was camping and she didn't want to miss my Grad Party. (What a great friend!) Everyone went home on the sixth, my Mom and I went to go pick up my dog from the kennel, and we went out to dinner at a local italian restaurant.

My Mom and I had a bit of an argument on the 5th (I think we were a bit overtired from the party) but finally at dinner, we were on better terms. How could I tell? The topic of Disney came up again! She said I could look into it more when I got home. So that's what we did!

July 7th, 2011

We researched a bit last night and got a general idea of how much it would all cost. We finally established our first official "plan" this morning!

We saw that there was a deal for Annual Passholders to stay at a Value Resort for $74 a night. So, that was a great deal! We were thinking of trying for All Star Movies.

We looked at flight prices and the Southwest Airfare was the best. (it was $168 going down, and $138 coming back.)

After laying that all out, I officially got the "okay" from my parents! WOOHOO! I love how understanding they are of my love for Disney.

That night I went to my friend Nat's Brother's production of "Hairspray." (he was Link Larkin) Nat and I spontaneously decided that I should go with her up to her cottage the next day. (good decision.)

July 8th, 2011

I went over to Nat's house this morning. While we were waiting for her Mom to get ready, I told Nat about the trip. I was too excited to keep my mouth shut!! I invited her to come, but I didn't think she'd be able to. We invited her to come with us in January but it didn't work out. I thought I'd test my luck again anyway. She REALLY wanted to go.. but didn't know if it could happen either.

We left her house and went up to her cottage with Nat's Mom. While we were on the beach, Nat just asked her Mom out of the blue "Hey Mom, can I go to Disney in August?" Nat's Mom immediately said "No." Nat replied with, "Well, I tried!"

Hahaha we laughed it off... but then we got to thinking. Nat's birthday was only 4 days after we got back. We thought.. what if she uses her birthday money to pay for part of the trip? And it's her senior year.. what if she asks for it as a graduation present? She wanted to go anyway for her graduation, and everyone she wanted to go with would be going on this trip! It was practically planned for her! And the rest of the money she needed... she could just take out of her bank account!

We went swimming and we devised a plan for Nat to ask her parents again.

After dinner, we rode around on her golf cart and talked about Disney. We thought of a bunch of reasoning for Nat to present to her parents. We typed it all out on her phone so she wouldn't forget.

While we were riding the golf cart through the cottage neighborhoods, I had my iPod playing. We drove by this "Teen Dance" that was going on at the main area (where all of the scummy kids went) and we blasted our Disney Music. LOL all of the teenagers had no idea what was going on. They just looked around and didn't know what the heck we were listening to. :rotfl: Nat's Mom said we had a lot of guts for doing that hahaha. What can I say? We had a feeling we were going to Disney together!

July 12th, 2011

We went to a local amusement park on this day. Vickie, Dan, Kristen, Nat, our friend Jessie, me, and a bunch of other people went. The whole time we were there we just compared EVERYTHING to Disney World. We even sang the whole "Splash Mountain Loop" while we were on the themeless log flume. Kristen had no idea that we would potentially be going on the real Splash Mountain all together so soon!!

July 14th, 2011

I painted my first batch of Disney Nails on this day.

Here's the Castle:

July 18th, 2011

Nat presented the Disney idea to her parents, once again, a few days ago. We were just waiting and waiting for the answer. On this night, Nat texted me and told me she had to call me.

She told me... that she couldn't go.

I was like ".....what??"

And she said..........

"JUST KIDDING! WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!"

I was jumping up and down all around my room. I was SO HAPPY!!

Now don't forget about Alicia. Her answer was still pending. She had just gotten this job at her Dad's office and she had to see if she could even take those few days off. So we had to wait some more for her.

Alicia was sleeping over at my house that night when Nat got the okay, and right before we fell asleep, I thought of how we wanted to surprise Kristen!

We wanted to go into the Town Square Meet and Greet and be in the room with Mickey when Kristen walked in to meet him. She would be TOTALLY shocked!

Now, did it happen like that? You'll have to wait and see......!

July 19th, 2011

Alicia and I went up to Nat's cottage this day and we just talked about Disney all day long!

I, of course, was the crazy diser and tried to lay out all of the plans so we could line up our days with Kristen and Vick's schedules. I had to sneak all of Kristen's plans, but Vick knew we were coming so she gave me her schedule.

We were so crazy and happy. We listened to Disney music on the golf cart all night, and when people would give us weird looks, we would just tell them "We're going to Disney World!!!"

July 20th, 2011

When I got home from Nat's Cottage, I called Disney and booked our hotel! Since we had the official "okay" from someone other than me, we thought we should definitely reserve a room!

We wanted to get the discount for the Value Resorts. Before we called, I specifically said to my Mom "the only one I don't want to stay at is All Star Sports."

Why? Because I am NOT a sports person. hahaha

I got on the phone with a guy from Disney and asked if anything was available at All Star Movies. He said... No.

All Star Music? ...No.

Pop Century? ....No.

All Star Sports? ...Yes.

OF COURSE. I was like... hmm. Okay.

Then I thought, just for the heck of it, why not ask for a quote for Coronado Springs? That's where Kristen was staying, after all.

It ended up not being that much more!! I think it was only $200 or so more than we estimated! Not too bad!

We just booked our package right then and there - Room and Dining! AWW YEAH!!

One of my life mottos is that "everything happens for a reason," and I think we were just meant to stay at Coronado. It just worked out PERFECTLY that way.

July 21st, 2011

I went to Kristen's house on this day. We were watching Harry Potter (which I'm not really into) so I asked Kristen if I could see her trip journal. She hadn't written out her August Reservations yet, so I told her I would help and write them for her.

While Harry Potter was consuming her attention, I sneakily texted Nat all of her reservations and quick service ideas. Muhahaha I'm SO SNEAKY!

That night we took Kristen's little sister, Sarah, to the drive-in and we saw Winnie the Pooh and Cars 2! They were both SUPER cute movies! And it got us all in the Disney spirit! (even though they had no idea I was going to accompany them on their trip... haha)

July 22nd, 2011

Once I got home from Kristen's, it was time to make all of our dining reservations! These are the original results:

8/20 - Coral Reef - 12:15 pm

8/21 - Les Chefs de France - 4:40 pm

8/22 - Kona - 7:55 pm

8/23 - Via Napoli - 11:30 am

8/24 - Liberty Tree Tavern - 12:50 pm

Would we keep all of these? You'll have to find out!

Alicia also texted me on this day and told me very sad news... she couldn't go on the trip!! :( She called the office and they couldn't give her the days off because another girl already was going to be on vacation. They had no one to work besides Alicia, and since she just started, she couldn't get out of it. We were very sad she couldn't join us.

July 24th, 2011

My Mom and Nat's Mom talked on the phone this day and discussed prices. Nat's Mom was going to send the check in the mail soon since we reserved everything under our name. WE WERE SO EXCITED!!!!

You should have seen our text messages to each other every morning when we were counting down. They were OBNOXIOUS.

For example: "26 DAYS TILL DISNEY AHHHHHH I'M SO EXCITED I CAN'T EVEN CONTAIN MYSELF EEEEEEEEEEEEE! DISNEY!!!!" Yup, that's us. Squealing like little girls over text.

July 25th, 2011

On this day I got my wisdom teeth out. Ouch. For those of you who have to get them out - don't worry. It's a lot more uncomfortable than it is painful. And I stayed on advil the whole time - I didn't even need intense pain killers! So, no worries. After about 4 or 5 days you're totally fine!

This was also a big day for Kristen because she went to Disney with her Dad and her brother, Michael! So while she was having a great day, I was stuck in bed. But the good news is that I watched Little Mermaid 1, 2, and 3, which renewed my great love for those movies. And I ate ice cream. So it really wasn't that bad of a day!

July 26th, 2011

I was still recovering from surgery on this day. Kristen's Mom called to check on me, and I told her about our idea of going to Disney! It was hard to talk because my mouth was so swollen, but I couldn't wait anymore! Kristen's Mom was shocked but she was so excited! She loves surprises so she was totally in on helping coordinate it all! This worked out perfectly for us to plan everything, since Kristen was in Disney already. It gave us some time to safely plan the trip without her overhearing. haha sneaky - again.

July 27th, 2011

This was a revolutionary day for me. Today I watched "Princess and the Frog." Results? I LOVED IT. It's one of my top favorite Disney movies of all time now. So good! If you haven't watched it before, you need to get on that. And Tangled, too. SUCH good movies - I promise you'll be impressed!

August 5th, 2011

Kristen was finally home from Disney Trip #1! YAY! Kristen, Allie, and I went to this little festival near us. First we ate the biggest slices of pizza you'll ever see in your life. (DELICIOUS.) Then we saw this stand where they spray paint T-Shirts for you. I saw a sample where they wrote someone's name in a spray painted circle... so I thought.. why not add two more little circles and make it a hidden mickey?

The guy didn't fully understand what I was trying to say... so I drew it out for him on paper. He tried to convince me that it would be more money than the original special, but I told him it was simply two more circles. So after a little bargaining, we got the shirts for $10!!! They're super cute. I got one for Nat for her birthday, since she wasn't there that night. I got a pink one for myself, Kristen got teal, Allie got purple, Nat's was lime green, and Vick showed up later and got a pink one as well.

dsc0160mq.jpg

August 6th, 2011

August 6th is Vickie's Birthday Party! So we went over to her house for a pool party. It was lots of fun, we ate pizza, and we went swimming! She was really precious and got a lot of Disney Princess decorations... yeah we're all 5 years old. We know.

That night, Kristen, Allie and I had a sleepover and painted more Disney nails to get in the spirit for "Kristen's" trip! (I love that she didn't know haha I'm so proud of this surprise.)

Anyways, here are my nails:

August 7th, 2011

Kristen, Vick, and Allie came over this day. Kristen helped Vickie adjust their schedule so their days would line up better. They just had to flip Vickie's Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom days.

August 9th, 2011

I readjusted our dining and itinerary this day, since I knew of the changes.

Our New Dining List:

8/20 - Coral Reef - 12:15 pm

8/21 - Kona - 6:10 pm

8/22 - Sanaa - 5:00 pm

8/23 - Via Napoli - 5:45 pm

8/24 - Liberty Tree Tavern - 12:40 pm

Would we keep THESE?! Who knows...?

August 11th, 2011

We had one last beach party with a bunch of my friends this night. It was the last time I was going to see a lot of them before college! We went to the beach, had a cook out, went out for ice cream, had a photo shoot, and then watched Hercules, the January Frump Trip Movie, and Aladdin to finish off the night! It was SO fun!

August 12th, 2011

Kristen slept over last night and then we had to say goodbye in the morning. This was the last time I was going to see her before college, since she was leaving for Disney on the 15th. Little did she know..... ;)

We both cried though because it was so sad. However, the good news was that there was only ONE WEEK TILL DISNEY! But she didn't know that.

August 13th, 2011

I packed for college and Disney ALL DAY. One of the deals with this trip was that I had to be completely packed for college before I left, since I'd only have 2 full days home once I got back. Hey, it was totally worth it!

We started off like this:

dsc0913a.jpg

And eventually ended up like this:

dsc0914h.jpg

August 15th, 2011

I redid my Disney nails this day because the other ones were chipping. I did new designs on six of them.

Here are my new nail designs:

dsc0002cuy.jpg

From Left to Right: Jasmine, Pluto, Nemo, Test Track, and Alien from Toy Story

dsc0003bg.jpg

From Left to Right: Space Mountain, Tigger, 101 Dalmation, Seagulls from Finding Nemo, and the Monorail

It was also my last night of work tonight, too. I worked at an Ice Cream Place all summer. Best job EVER. My boss and I talked about Disney for a good while. He hasn't been there in 6 years but he used to love it!

August 16th, 2011

I got a new Sony HD Video Camera on this day! I hadn't gotten a new one since my freshman year of high school, and since I wanted to make a movie of this trip, we thought it was an appropriate time to invest in a new one! Yay!

I definitely plan on doing a video of this trip... we have fantastic footage!! But only God knows when I'll have time to do it. It might not get completed till next summer. Wah. I will let you all know, though, when it gets finished!

August 17th, 2011

I did some more packing this day and wrote out this entire Pre-Trip Report in my Trip Journal. (It's a lot... I know. But it's all important stuff!) Kristen arrived in Disney on this day! Ahhh so exciting! I couldn't wait till we got there!

August 18th, 2011

AHHH THE DAY BEFORE DISNEY! I was so excited all day. I went to Panera for breakfast with my friends Dylan and Bobbie so I could see them before I went to college. Then I went to the bank with my Dad and took out the money to pay for my trip! We were all set!

We made Chicken Quesidillas for dinner that night and they were FANTASTIC. They got me right in the spirit for Coronado Springs! Hooray!

dsc0005ql.jpg

And to review... here are all of the movies I watched over the entire course of the summer to get ready for the trip. YAY!

dsc0010fi.jpg

GUESS WHAT? Now the trip begins.........! :-)

I love knowing the back story!!! It takes a lot of planning to surprise someone...can't wait to hear how it all plays out!

 Thanks for the back story. :thumbsup2 I loved hearing about how it all came together and how sneaky you were with the planning. :thumbsup2

You couldn't have posted this awhile back, could ya? Seriously, I could've used some of your cunning ways and treachery to make sure I would be going to WDW this April, but NOOO, you had to keep this all a "secret", Pssshhh! lol You really mapped this trip out well in the limited time you had. I'm so glad you got to see Princess & the Frog, probably my all-time favorite Disney movie next to The Lion King. I had the same feelings as you with it not being as good as the classics when I first watched, but boy was I wrong! It ranks up pretty well in my book. :-) And I must add you definitely watched a great group of Disney movies, especially the one in the middle ;)

Can't wait to read all about this trip! Based on this planning and the events leading up to it, it must've been fantastic :mickeyjum

Really looking forward to reading about your trip!! I was a lurker towards the end of your last trip report!

You girls look like you have so much fun!!

reading and so excited to read about your trip! Its so awesome to find people who are my age who loves disney as much as me, if not more!! I'm that guy in my group of friends who is ALWAYS talking Disney and most of my friends can stand it :) MOST haha...Its cool to read about you and your friends taking a vacation together...I've never really taken a trip only with friends...its usually my family or me solo when I go to WDW but I'll be taking tips because next spring break me and and one of my bffs are taking a trip to Disneyland and im soo excited for it to be just us! ANYWAY cant wait to read more! :)

I swear I am still a teen my head, I read your stories and it all sounds so FUN! JEALOUS!!

It's so sad that Kristen is younger and you guys couldn't go off to college together. I'm glad you're pretty close though so you guys can still hang. I went to university in my city and stayed home with my parents, I get such a sad feeling in my gut when I read about anyone going off to college and leaving home, all you people who do that are so brave. I'm just a big baby.

Oh and a question...

Why didn't you believe in Tiana's Princess credentials before you'd seen the movie?

I'm glad! :) I know... it really does! But it all worked out so I'm excited to share! :goodvibes

 Thanks for the back story. :thumbsup2 I loved hearing about how it all came together and how sneaky you were with the planning. :thumbsup2

You're welcome! This way, everyone will understand what's going on  It was a big process!

Haha the point of this trip was that it was a secret. I couldn't post it :rotfl:
I think the small amount of time we had made it a lot easier... because if I had to keep that secret from Kristen for much longer... I would have burst!
Yeah, I'm glad you agree! It's a great movie!

Really looking forward to reading about your trip!! I was a lurker towards the end of your last trip report!

You girls look like you have so much fun!!

Thank you! I hope you enjoyed that TR and I hope you enjoy this one, too!
Thanks! We love to have fun! :goodvibes

Yay I'm glad you're here! I'm glad you love Disney as much as we do - it's good to know we're not the only ones!
I TOTALLY understand about being the person in your group to always go to Disney. At home, all of my friends are obsessed with Disney. But at college, nobody quite understands it. So I'm the Disney freak. TOTALLY fine.
Oh my gosh I'm really excited for you to take your trip to Disneyland with your friend!! You're going to have so much fun! Have a magical trip!

I swear I am still a teen my head, I read your stories and it all sounds so FUN! JEALOUS!!

Oh and a question...

Why didn't you believe in Tiana's Princess credentials before you'd seen the movie?

Hahaha it's okay. I will forever be 16 years old. I don't even care :lmao:
I know.... I WISH we could so bad. It's hard not having someone as close as her with me when I'm off at college. I'm a baby too... but I need to go out and force myself to adjust to a new environment. I'm sure I'll end up loving it someday... the beginning just takes some time to get used to.
And well.. ever since I was born there were ALWAYS the same princesses. And for 16 or 17 years, they never added one. Then another character was put on all of the merchandise, and it threw me off big time. She's still not a "classic" princess to me, but she's a princess. So, I understand now. I sort of wish she'd get her own line of merchandise like rapunzel... but oh well. I love the movie anyway. It's fantastic. :thumbsup2

OMG. I had noo idea that this much effort went into all of this. I feel so loved. :goodvibes

It is funny to read about all of these times when I should have figured it out but didn't. Ah well. I am SOOOOO happy it worked out!! I can't wait for all of this to pan out!! Seriously one of the BEST trips of my life. That and January...I can never decide which one was better!

I love the backstory of it all! Thanks for posting that. You guys are so crafty. I think it's awesome that you were able to pull that off.

I love the Disney nails that you guys do! It's so cute.

I am loving this so far!!! You are such a great friend for wanting to surprise Kristen like that!:hug:And I'm sure another trip to Disney wasn't such a horrible thing either!! haha:lmao:

I LOVE your nails!! I wish I could do that to mine without it looking like a COMPLETE mess! haha Let's just say I don't have a gift for painting nails. :rolleyes1

I bet you were ready to burst at the seams by keeping that secret from Kristen! Good thing you had other people you could talk about it with!!
Can't wait to read more!popcorn::

Great update!!! I was just like you when I was a teenager (and younger, actually) - I was constantly planning Disney vacations! Where I'd want to go, what I'd eat (never where we'd stay, because we always stayed at the same place!). But then the parents got divorced, and mom and I didn't have any money, so no more trips for awhile. Then, miraculously, my pom team got their first bid to Nationals - held at MGM! So we all got to go to Disney World, just me, my friends, coach, and one set of parents. It was so much fun!!

I'll tell ya, it was a LOT different "planning" when I was younger - no internet! You just had to go off pictures (and not the digital kind) and memory!

You're so lucky to get to go with your friends. And college was intimidating, but once I got into the groove it was much-needed to go away for school. I just needed to have that independence.

Can't wait to read more!

OMG, JESS! I can't tell you how EXCITED I am to see how this trip report plays out! You have MASTERED the art of the TR, IMHO. :worship:

You are your friends are so precious...it makes me miss all of my Disney loving friends back home!!! I feel so selfish for saying this, but I hope you will ALWAYS visit Disney World multiple times a year so that there will always be fresh TR's to go goo-goo-ga-ga over. :cool1::banana:

Keep up the great work! *pixie dust*

One more thing - how do you paint your nails?? They look great! Do you use a certain brush to do that? Do you use little pots of nail polish or just use the bottle? VERY, VERY cool! Would love to try it myself! (I think the Space Mountain ones, both night and day, are unbelievably good!!)

So how was Coronodo Springs? Did you like it a LOT? I am thinking of booking there or POR for next April. Can't decide.

Haha, that was the best real life update ever. Even though you called it a PTR...it was pretty much just that! :)

It was nice knowing all the little details, even though I knew a few! I didn't know you redid you disney nails, either! I like how your test track one turned out, I should have done that one for mine! Oh well, next trip!

Good luck with your tests this week, by the way! <3 Talk to you soon!

I like your quick fire pre trip report and luvin all your nails. Wish you were closer so I could get you to do my nails as well :)
