Want to propose to girlfriend at Wizarding World

Hello all, I am from Chicago and going to be travelling to wizarding world and trying to lay out some plans for my engagement. What I am wondering is what rides (if any) do they take your picture on at wizarding world. Perhaps I should lay out my idea so you can know what I am looking for.

I would like to propose to my girlfriend mid roller coaster ride. Ideally, I would like to pull out the ring (carefully) in the middle of the ride and reveal it and pop the question seconds before I pass by cameras that take your picture. The idea being, to capture my proposal and her reaction on camera. My girlfriend is a huge harry potter fan as well as roller coaster fan, so it would be like a quadruple whammie to be on the roller coaster at harry potter world while getting proposed to, and get a picture immortalizing it all.

Heres the problem. I don't know what rides, if any take your picture and exactly where they take your picture as well. I tried watching some POV videos on youtube of the rides but didn't catch any camera flashes. I know at other parks, usually you go through some dark tunnel for a second and the lights flash and it is pretty obvious where the cameras are, but do they even have this at WW? It didn't look like it on dragon challege. I would think they would have it though as it makes them a ton of money for the overpriced photos, but in this case it is worth it!

Let me know what you think, and thanks for the help! :yay:

Sorry to burst your bubble, but neither of the two roller coasters at WWoHP take your picture. Only FJ does, but it is not a roller coaster and there is no way I can recommend taking out such a valuable item while on it. The TMs are very strict on that particular ride for a reason.

Your best bet in my opinion is to try and arrange through Universal to do it during the Ollivander's show. It's been done before, but would probably take some work.

Thank you for your input, I appreciate it.

Can you be a little more detailed on what you are referring to during the Olivanders show? What exactly did they do? That sounds like it has potential but I would like to know more.

This was posted on another thread. It's a viable alternative and something I, personally, would have liked had WWoHP been around when DH proposed. :thumbsup2

You might be able to get a TM or some romantic passerby to stand by to take your photo as well.

Ollivander's is a short 5- to 10-minute show that is a live reenactment of the Ollivander's scene from HP1. One guest (out of 25 or so) is chosen to go up to the Ollivander dude and perform the wand ceremony. The dude will pick out a wand and hand it to the guest, who waves it and simulated badness happens. Repeat a second time. The third time, the "correct" wand is presented in a box and when given to the guest, lights come on, a breeze blows, music plays, and all is sweetness and light.

At least one person, with video viewable on YouTube, had their ring in that third box where the correct wand is supposed to be.

You would have to obviously coordinate this through Universal--I'd start at Guest Relations.

OP, have you considered getting one of those Diamonelle rings for the proposal, and then giving her the real deal back at the hotel room? Speaking from personal experience here, I can tell you that you're likely to be bumbling around enough already from just being excited/scared to death. Add to that, handling a diamond ring worth several thousand dollars in a place where it can be lost a thousand ways could be a recipe for disaster.

This is the video of the Ollivanders proposal. Another guy was looking to do this during his trip, and he said Universal was not helping people with this anymore.

If you want to do it on a ride, there are some really neat ideas of people making signs. She will not know until you get off of the ride. Some good pictures in this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2795051&highlight=proposal+tot&page=2

If you want to go non-ride, but still make it Harry Potter you could do it in the wand shop after Ollivanders. Grab a wand that matches up with her birth month and sneak away with it. Slip the ring over the wand in the box and have a neat "Will You Marry Me?" on parchment with ink. If she already has picked out the same style wand, tell her you want to see it and say it has a crack in it. Then hand her your box and go from there. :thumbsup2

When are you going?

buy a chocolate frog in honey dukes.....throw out the chocolate frog and keep the cool box. Go to eat at the 3 broomstix. Order your food and while you are waiting at the counter send her to get a table. Slip the ring in the chocolate frog box and put it on your tray.....get to table and play dumb that it must be some special harry potter 3 broomstix thingy. Congrats, you are engaged....your welcome (courtesy of Frank Kincaid)And we are.........movin' on :thumbsup2
