Wrapping up my lasy day at Bonnet Creek on my in laws timeshare they let us have for a week for nothing. After reading all the hype I was excited but unfortunately it fell flat for me. The view was unmatched by most Disney resort, we had a great view of epcot and the we could see BLT and CR as well as the castle in the distance. Unfortunately that was the best part of my stay. Found the resort very dark at night, unfriendly staff, ant problems, A/C problems, showerhed problems. It was one thing after the other. Now I'm a DVC member and own at OKW and boy did I miss the Welcome Home feeling. I dont care what anyone says DVC is worth every penny. We went to OKW yesterday just so I could get a good feeling about my vacay and it turned my spirits around in a matter of minutes...it rained most of the time but we met two families from Long ilsand and England in a matter of hours. We havent met anyone at BC the whole week. Basically Disney Resorts have a more friendly atmosphere than offsite resorts in my opinion. Any way its OKW next year!:woohoo:

Another :thumbsup2 for DVC........and OKW! :yay:

thanx for your support i got killed on the orlando hotels board cuz i ripped bonnet creek...god forbid i give an opinion...some people respected others were just angry cuz they liked the resort and i didnt. I spent my last day today at OKW and is was fantastic I met another family today thats three in two half days at OKW and none at WBC for a whole week!!! Sorry disney is different its what families are all about. Non-Disney people think we're brainwashed and think every think disney is wonderful...smart people know we do have some complaints but the pros outhweigh the cons everytime for me...cant wait till next year already...thankfully we decided to spend time at OKW or this vacay would have been a major dissappointment.

Who knows they could be employees who don't like people badmouthing their resort. Bonnet creek has a bunch of different properties if I recall as I stayed at the Hilton there as part of a convention once. Besides being located on property BC is really no different than the DTD or off property hotel / resorts.

Most of the people who think we are brainwashed are just really jealous that they don't own DVC :cool1: They justify their decision because they pay less for their time share but deep down are green :thumbsup2 with envy.

Yeeeeesssss!!!!!!:goodvibes

Isnt it great to be an owner of DVC pts.?!!!!!! When I stay at any other place, no matter where I go, I find myself comparing to DVC, and DVC resorts always win IMO.

I would not be so sure about that. I know several current---and a few former---DVC owners who find offsite resorts to be preferable in some ways.

Each has their pros and cons. Being able to rationally discuss them is usually appreciated, but not everyone can.

By the way Brian put me on his ignore list cuz I had my own opinion of WBC and didnt give the proper love I should have...curmudgeonly highness is a perfect title you gave ourself...unfortunatley Brain thinx people who love their DVC timeshare are not openminded. I know people who also love their DVC timeshare and didnt like there "other" timeshares that they had...so AGAIN its matter of personal preference. But what do I know I'm brainwashed, but then again this post will be "ignored" by his Highness. Too bad cuz brian mkes very good points on his posts. If you wanna check out my OP on the Orlando Hotels board under "Sorry just not impressed with Bonnet Creek" and check out all the replies you'll see what I'm talking about. DVC members are not allowed to like speak out or compare DVC to other hotels, especially the hoighly touted Bonnet Creek. I countlessly listed my dislikes and stated it was just my opinion but that wasnt good enuf cuz I didnt love Bonnet Creek. i think many people would love this resort, I didnt..sorry. I'm a DVC guy all the way...just MY opinion.

I have made the mistake of straying from the DVC boards and found myself also getting "ripped", even within the DISboards other than DVC. For the most part I find those commenting on the DVC boards to be respectful and willing to agree to disagree. If an OP shares a negative DVC experience, or bashes DVC, don't we generally see a response such as "I'm sorry you had such n such happen. Did you let MS know? Did you call the front desk, etc., etc." We do have a different mindset and I mean that in the nicest way.

I really don't think we are "brainwashed." If anything we have very high expectations and are disappointed with anything that even falls a tiny bit short. DVC has spoiled us by setting the bar high. For example in our region of the country Branson is considered the place to go. I had not been there in many years so I did not know what to expect when my employer sent me down there for a business trip. I stayed in the Branson Hilton on the Lake. The employees could not have been nicer. They could have been trained by Disney. The accommodations were well maintained. I would give the management an "A" for effort. "That being said" . . . it still fell short of what I've become accustomed to when going home to our home resort, OKW. I did not have that desire to return like I do after a stay at a Disney DVC.

We tend to forget that most of the Orlando area accommodations are riding on the coattails of WDW. If not for the vision of Walt Disney this region would probably still be a hodgepodge of swamp land, cattle ranches, and orange groves - - - and Cyprus Gardens.

Down 25 points of horse farm.

I love the size of the rooms, the mature landscaping and the boat to DTD. I wish OKW had better counter service but we eat elsewhere.

Most people don't really understand our love for Disney or our DVC but I just keep to myself and enjoy the time at our DVC.

That was perfectly put, your right on every account! The worst part about it was that I stated most people would love Bonnet Creek and that I was in the minority..what a shame it had to come to such a mess...the post is up to 7 pages now. And its guys like Brian who lead the charge and rip apart opinions but when you give it back to him he ignores you. Oh well all hail DVC!!!!!!!!
