For those of you on Shaw, and got T-Mobile internet stick or Hot Spot, do you have problems with Shaw web mail? I can get my e mail, but I can't send. It keeps timing out. Soooooo frustrating :surfweb:

I got T Mobile cause it was the cheaper internet stick, and had good rate for pay as you go/no contract. So dissapointed. The main reason I got it was so i could keep in touch. Wasted money.
I spent an hour on Shaw support, and another hour with T Mobile, and no body could help me :sad2: I've wasted $100.

Sorry you had so many problems. It was problems signing into Shaw, Telus, etc while abroad that made me start using gmail and hotmail (hotmail for spam stuff, gmail for friends). I'd suggest starting a gmail account then forwarding your Shaw account to it (Shaw technical support should be able to help you with setting up forwarding even if they couldn't help you with the issues you had this trip). Good luck!

Can you go to a store and have a live person figure it out for you?

I suspect that the problem lies with Shaw. Some ISPs only allow you to send email when connected to their own network. This is done in an attempt to cut down on unauthorized email and spam, but in the end results in being unable to access your e-mail from places like Internet cafes.

I usually recommend to people not to use your ISPs e-mail anyways. First off it avoids this type of problem. But even bigger is the fact that if you switch ISPs, if you're using your ISPs e-mail, you have to change your address and let everyone know. By using something like GMail or Hotmail you pretty much have an email address for life regardless of who your ISP is.

Thanks for the replies. After an hour on the phone with Shaw tec. support, and another hr with T-Mobil neither of which could do anything for me-
I never had this prob. with shaw before at wifi hot spots?
I ended up getting a Gmail acct, so now have to send everyone my gmail address, ugh.
But at least I can be in touch with people while away.

I was just in California and we are with Telus, tried to use Iphones (when we were connected to the hotel Wifi) and I could receive emails but not send them out. When I went onto Telus Webmail, had absolutely no problem sending emails! Seems like the way to do it?
