I am trying to book a hotel in Buffalo for Aug 27th and am having a hard time. Everything is soo expensive in comparison to what all of you seem to get. I don't know what is going on that weekend.

Summer prices. Bummer. Have you tried using Priceline?

I did. Got up to $85 bid and still no bites.. not sure how much more I am willing to bid with the uncertainty of what I will get. We are 5 people so I am a little uneasy about the room not being able to accomodate us.

Is there a specific reason to staying in BUF? Airport? If your finding BUF so expensive, why not stay a bit further out (not sure where coming from and why over there) but try Fort Erie?

Comfort Inn and HoJo usually pretty good?

Comfort Inn for the 27th is $100 and HoJo is $95.

Not sure if these are options but not bad prices??

If you DO need the airport, it is only 15 min over the border.

Yes we are flying out early morning so the closest to the airport the better.

I think with the dollar being so good, lots of people are doing back to school shopping in the US, and filling the BUF hotels. We just got back from a last minute overnight trip to Buffalo, and we had a hard time getting a hotel at the last minute. All of the Marriott family of hotels were fully booked up, even for Marriott rewards members, so there's no way that one of their hotels would have been available through Priceline.

Have you tried the Sleep Inn or the Comfort Suites? They're usually pretty reasonable and they should have rooms that accommodate 5.

Both were booked. I just went ahead and booked the Holiday Inn express. It was a bit more than I wanted to spend but I dont think the prices are going to get any better and I dont want to have to worry about this anymore.

I was just looking today for the same date for some back to school shopping and was surprised at the limited availability and the higher rates. We often stay at the Millenium and it's sold out. There is a 3 star available on hotwire for $105 and it is probably the Holiday Inn next to the airport. We have stayed there before and it's a decent hotel for one night.

I've stayed at the Holiday Inn Express across from the airport before for a park-and-fly, it worked out great.

That's the problem you will run into if you want to be right on site. The amount of time it takes(which is very little) to drive from a bit further out, is well worth the money saving and time wise it will honestly make no difference at all. I can try to also do a search to see if I can find anything. You can pm me.

I actually looked a little further and there wasnt much available and the price was about the same.

My guess would be that it's the Saturday night going into the last week of the summer and with a long weekend following. Lots of travelers.
