ohana at 9:55 pm..are we crazy ?? Updated..i got an earlier time :)

My dh has always wanted to try Ohana for Dinner...All i could get was 9:55pm..We never eat that late..We are normally done with dinner by 6pm...What do you guys think?? Have any of you eating here this late and have great food and service at closing time?? TIA

Personally I don't like to eat that late but if you are going to be staying up late anyway why not give it a shot.

We actually prefer to dine later (after 8:00pm). I can understand that it might be difficult to wait for such a late meal if you aren't used to it. The quality of the food and service will not suffer due to the lateness of the hour. Trust me, there will still be a LOT of guests there. The possible advantage is the lessening of the noise level since there will be fewer children there at that hour.

The trick to dining late is to have a substantial snack in late afternoon to tide you over. (One of the things I love about our UK vacations: afternoon tea)

cool..thanks..One more question..We will be at MK that evening and park closes at 9..Can we monorail over to ohana eat and monorail back to mk to get a bus or will the buses still be running that late if mk closes at 9pm that night?? Im a little worried about transportation back to our hotel.

I don't mind late dinners at WDW. Generally we are on a different schedule and will not eat at our "normal" times. We generally go to the resort during the day after rope drops, than venture back out....so it throws schedules off. I will say that 9:55pm might be tipping the scales for me. If it was at 9pm, that wouldn't be so bad....10 pm just isn't a very good time IMO.

I am not sure you will still have bus service back to the resorts from MK. They will continue to run transportation, but it may be a convoluted way to get home (like through DTD or a park with EMH). You can always try showing up early for the reservation and see if you get seated...we have been hit or miss on this.

The resort buses will probably have stopped running from MK by the time you are finished. If there is a park with EEMH that night, you could go over to it and transfer to your resort bus. Or take a bus to DTD (I really hate doing this because the transfer can take SOOOOO long). What we usually do at that time of night is take a taxi.

Never give up on getting your desired reservation. Keep checking each day between now and your trip. Cancellations are made constantly as people shift their schedules around. If you are persistant odds are you'll get a more desirable time.

We eat late on our first night at WDW because we're flying in from the west. The 3 hour time difference means a 10pm dinner is only 7pm by our stomach clocks!

Buses run until 1 hour after park closing as does the monorail. As stated, if Epcot has extra magic hours until midnight or later then buses will run from Polynesian to Epcot where you could then take a bus to your hotel. Otherwise you can take a bus from Poly to Downtown Disney and transfer to your resort. I believe those buses run much later than others.

I loved having a reservation this late, they stopped the noisy games at 9:30 and the food was fine. The service was not, but I think it's hit or miss every time.

I don't know if this is just my good luck, but everytime I go to Ohana with a reservation they seat us early! One time we had an 830 and they called us right before 8. We like to sit at the Tambu Longe and relax and everytime I just get my Lapu Lapu the call us!

Thanks everyone..I appreciate all the responses..I think im gonna keep the ressie and just keep trying for an earlier time and if not we will try to go about 9 and see if we can get in earlier than 9:55..Thanks again.

For my family late Ohana is better than no Ohana! LOL.

We've had reservations at 9:30 twice and the food was excellent, as was the service. However, if you have kids who are looking forward to a fun dinner please know that they typically stop the games around 9:30ish. As for getting back to your resort after dinner. If you drove to MK you could always drive your car to the Poly for dinner then your car will be right there when you are done. If you used Disney transportation then I'd just have a taxi take me back to my resort.

Are you coming from a different time zone? It might not feel so late if you're 'clock' is on a different time. Know what I mean? If you are on eastern time already, I personally would skip dinner that late if you don't usually eat that late. After a long day at Disney, at 10 o'clock, I'd rather be in bed or on my way there.

This was our experience - but I loved it! I didn't fill up on the bread/butter and appetizers like I typically do, so when the meat arrived I was still hungry and it tasted A M A Z I N G!! Probably my best meal at 'Ohana ever.

I'm gonna be honest and say I don't think I could eat that late! There is SO MUCH FOOD served here! Last year we ate there. I ate wayyyyy too much, and after we got back to the room I had to pace up and down our hallway in the Contemporary. Of course, I shouldn't have eaten that much, but the food was really good!

I would probably take the time slot for now and then keep checking for openings/cancellations.

We had a late reservation like that on my 30th birthday and it couldn't have been more magical. We watched the fireworks (I guess at 9:00 pm?) and the Electrical Water Pagent from the beach and then made our way in for dinner.

I didn't even know there were games! It was a nice romantic meal!

Not sure if you have children tagging along, but I think it's way too late.

Too much food to enjoy at that time. You'll walk out stuffed and probably won't sleep well that night.

We take our time here - our dinners here avg. around 90 minutes

The food is not worth it....that is too late for us and I would be up all night long trying to digest a heavy meal
