Via Napoli or Mama Melrose

Via Napoli all the way. Melrose is ok, but Via Napoli is definitely way better. My family cant stand Melrose and a lot of folks are not too crazy about it. Via napoli is really good and so is Tutto Italia! :thumbsup2 DH loves them both. You can taste the difference big time.

I have to disagree with the pp. Via Napoli gets lots of bad reviews. Most of the menu is pizza- which is not that great.

I found Mama Melrose to be better, have better waitstaff and add in fantasmic package it is a much better value.

I honestly can not see doing VN again but MM will be first choice at DHS for a fantasmic package and we have tried all the others.

They do have Pizza, but we saw more offerings that weren't pizza. We did not go to eat pizza, pizza can be eaten anywhere. I have heard that Via Napoli's pizza is not that great. We found the Via Napoli's menu more inviting. While DH and I enjoy Melrose, everyone we have gone there with has hated it. Everyone has their own taste, when it comes to restaurants everyone needs to try it out for themselves and see whats suits them.

I haven't been to Via Napoli, but I would choose it. I base that decision on my passable experience at its sister restaurant, Naples, in Disneyland's Downtown Disney, and on my conviction that Mama Melrose is quite possibly the worst pseudo-Italian food I've ever eaten in my life.

I think Via Napoli has more of that upscale Italian feel using more traditional Italian ingredients than Mama Melrose. The food at MM isn't bad, but it's more simple and casual feeling. So depends on what you're going for!

My DH and I have eaten at both and we prefer Via Napoli. In fact it's one of the few places that DH has insisted that we eat on our next trip. MM is the only restaurant that made us wait for our table evn though they were far from full and neither one of us were very impressed with our dishes. It wasn't bad, just not good.

... I will go in DIS` next month , should i seek this restaurant ?? Is Napoli the best ??

We enjoyed Via Napoli so much on our last trip, that we scheduled another lunch a couple days later. Our meal at MM was ok (this comes from an Italian girl from Jersey who can get amazing food from her family, of course), but we have other TS options at DHS that we like much better.

Mama Melrose to me is like a step down from a horrid Olive Garden- you couldn't pay me to go back. I enjoyed Via Napoli. I didn't think it was the greatest but we enjoyed it. We had pizzas, some pasta, rice balls- fresh salads. We would probably consider going back, liked the vibe there.

Never eaten at via napoli but mama melrose is really not good. We till go there but only because of the fantasmic package and there being no other real options in hollywood studios

Via Napoli gets some of its ingredients straight from Naples Italy. That says a lot about the quality of food!!!

Doesn't the Brown Derby do Fantasmic packages? That would be my choice. I agree that the other options in Hollywood Studios are unimpressive.

Yeah, flour and canned tomatoes. The fresh ingredients are locally grown, which I think speaks a lot more to quality.

Via Napoli is the number one dining priority for our next trip. We thought it was FANTASTIC! We do not like MM at all. We have tried it two or three times and it is the only restaurant DH refuses to return to...

I have been to Mama Melrose and didn't really care for it. It was mediocre. I am trying Via Napoli on our upcoming trip.

While I have only eaten at Mama Melrose, I would NOT recommend it. The food was OK and the atmosphere felt like an Olive Garden. Our service was horrible!!! It did not feel like I was sitting in Disney!! That part I could overlook if the food was wonderful but it wasn't. Napoli is on my list of to do's!!

Another vote for Via Napoli. We have eaten there several times and love it. The pizza is cooked in massive wood fire ovens. There are many options of fresh ingredients to put on your pizza and it isn't greasy.:wizard: We love the pizza so much we have't tried anything else, other than salads with our pizza there. I agree with the PP that said MM is mediocre, similar to Tony's in the MK. Average Italian that is overpriced. However, everyone has different preferences so you probably won't get a consensus.
