I'm a Traitor, Booked Offsite

Just wasn't happy with idea of staying @ SSR. FDP didn't cover all my days. Fast approaching the 30 day mark of no return & had given up hope of waitlists coming through...

happy to report I booked the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress on Priceline for 60% less than AAA rates. :woohoo: Lots of pesky fees along with the parking charges @ WDW, unless I activiate my AP, but looking forward to shaking things up a bit this trip. I find it tends to make me appreciate DVC and WDW in general.

We've wanted to check the Hyatt out for years and plan on eating most of our meals off-site this trip (mostly in Crossroads area) but we'll probably keep at least 1 TS @ WDW. Nice bonus is I have lots of points to use for another trip! It's all good, just wanted to share.

I can't wait to hear your thoughts I have considered doing that for some last minutes trips, but am always nervous.

We also book offsite usually on our first and last day of our trips since we come in so late and often stay at Vero Beach then drive in for our departure. I love priceline and got a great price at Radisson.

i'll be sure to report back:). Always had to go with hotwire in the past as the kids were along but now that's it'll be just me & the mr since youngest is off to college priceline was calling me.

I've already had one of my adult kids ask if that meant the points were 'fair game:laughing:'.

been looking at staying there for years.;)

right now when staying offsite go cheap and Hyatt are never cheap.

with $5 priceline citicard rewards per night, pre tax my nightly bid was $90, $440 for 4 nights after tax. Fees/parking will up it another $33 a night it's less than rack for my nights @ a value. many reports of folks w/winning bids over the summer in $65-$85 range.

i emailed hyatt yesterday to confirm res & room request and included my gold passport #. Received a prompt confirmation and indication they'd associate my # with the reservation. I'll be shocked if I receive credit for it but might help to get that pool/epcot view.

thanks for the link.

:guilty: Don't worry I won't tell Mickey!!!

Any time we do stay offsite (and yes we do, if there is a good deal out there) the 1st thing my 14 old says, I like the Disney resorts better, unless he gets a bed with a duvet cover!

I've done the parks all my life with family, friends, schools, conventions so not going to the parks is often more of a vacation for me. I love the outlet mall, Orlando has nice places to eat. If I go into withdrawls I pop into the parks at night and do POTC, HH and Epcot!

Enjoy, and tell us all about it when you get back!

P.S. I felt the same about SSR till I got Congress Park, DTD view, now I love it!
