Departure Day

We left home on July 13th at 6 am. It takes us around 13 hours to get to WDW, so we wanted to get an early start.

Our first stop was at Bob Evans for breakfast.

I ordered a slice of French toast and a side of hash browns:

This was okay. The French toast was not very flavorful (I normally make mine with lots of cinnamon and nutmeg) and the syrup was really sweet. The hash browns were pretty good and crispy.

My mom ordered scrambled eggs and sourdough toast:
IMG_0661.jpg

She said her eggs were rubbery and lukewarm… all in all not very delicious.

My dad ordered two eggs over medium with home fries and sourdough toast:
IMG_0662.jpg

He enjoyed this, as his eggs were cooked just the way he likes them.

Andrew ordered oatmeal and sourdough toast:

This boy sure does love his oatmeal! (This will become quite evident as the dining reviews continue.) He thought this was good, but the portion was kind of small.

So, our first meal on the road gets…

This meal was neither spectacular nor special, but at least we got some sugar and carbs in our bodies to continue our trek to the sunshine state! :yay:

*Sorry the pictures aren't the best! I was using the camera on my phone, but I start using our actual camera once we are in WDW.

Day 1 - Continued

In order to try and get as many miles as we could behind us, my mom and I packed a lunch for us to eat on the road. We made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and brought along grapes, wheat thins, and all natural cheese doodles (aka puffed up air. Yum! ;)).

And don’t worry, I did take pictures of this marvelous lunch, for all of you that are wondering how to make the perfect PB&J sandwich!

This is my plate:

And this is my brother’s after devouring half of his sandwich:

Ahhhh… reminds me of those good ol’ days in middle school!

After eating our boxed lunch, we decided we needed some dessert. Off to McDonald’s we go! (Mostly because it was right beside the gas station we had just stopped at.)

My dad and I each got a hot fudge sundae, while my brother and mom got apple pies.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, that is a Gibbs and a half!

To be continued...

Ok thats what I eat for lunch almost every day :lmao: Sometimes wheat thins, sometimes pretzels, always peanut butter but not jelly and some type of fruit. My husband calls it my elementary school lunch :goodvibes

Wow McDondalds in the US must be very different to McDonalds in the UK

Your hot fudge sundae looks really good and nothing like the poor version you would get in the UK

Love, Love, Love PB&J sandwiches :cloud9:

We just returned from POR last week and I am fighting Disney Depression so your review is just what I need! We also ate at alot of the same restaurants. Can't wait for the pics and reviews. :goodvibes

I am stowing away for this report. Great pics so far. Can't wait to read more and hopefully see a few Jack pix!

Cant wait for more because even the pic of peanut butter n jelly looked awesome. I loves, loves me some pb&j

Haha! Yup, that was my lunch basically every day in high school.

Awww... poor UK McDonalds. The hot fudge sundaes here are actually really delicious, especially when they put lots of hot fudge on them. :thumbsup2 I think they are only around a dollar, so they are pretty cheap as well.

Love it! Can't wait to read more.:thumbsup2

Thanks! I have the next review coming right up!

Disney Depression can be quite a serious condition, so I'm glad to help. I hope you enjoyed your stay at POR! :)

Love PB&J and I am addicted to Wheat thins, I can sit down and eat a whole box.

Yeah, I love wheat thins! I went through quite an obsession with them and went through about 4 boxes in a month.

I am stowing away for this report. Great pics so far. Can't wait to read more and hopefully see a few Jack pix!

Glad you are coming aboard! I'm pretty sure Jack will find a way into this report... :rolleyes1

Thanks! I'm quite a PB&J expert. I actually had to write a paper in middle school that detailed all the steps to making a PB&J sandwich. Everything from walking to the kitchen, to opening the cupboard, to getting the peanut butter out.... My teacher even made me redo part because I didn't correctly explain how to open the peanut butter jar. That was one nightmare of a paper - must be why I remember it so vividly! :lmao:

Day 1 - Ending

After driving for 10 straight hours with minimal stops in between, we decided to call it a day. We spent the night in GA at a La Quinta. This hotel was actually pretty nice for the price we paid and they also serve you complimentary breakfast. :woohoo:

We gathered our suitcase and other sundry items and headed inside. Once we crashed in our room, we all came to the conclusion that we were starving and needed food pronto! What’s a family to do when they don’t know where to eat? Well, you order Dominoes pizza using the phone number found on the back of your room card of course.

Onions and Green Peppers on half (for me and my dad) and Cheese on the other half (for my brother and mom):

Garlic breadsticks with Marinara Sauce:

Cookie Bars!

Wait, what’s that? Dominoes doesn’t have cookie bars? Sadly, they don’t. Those in fact were made by yours truly before leaving home. They were very yummy indeed!

This meal gets a…

Yay, we are finally moving up in the world! The pizza was actually quite delicious as were the breadsticks. Everything was still piping hot and we received our order in less than 20 minutes.

We had hoped to get a good night’s sleep here, as the next day would be our first day at WDW! Yes, this would be our last chance to get that recommended 8 hours of sleep. Our excitement to be 3 hours away from Disney, combined with the fact that my mother accidently turned on the heat at 12:30 am (leading to a horrid smell of something burning), coupled with my brother’s laughing attack shortly thereafter… well, let’s just say that our 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep didn’t go as planned.

Next up: Will we enjoy our free breakfast? :confused3

can you please shove one of the cookie bars through your computer screen ? thank you ! :rotfl2: I need one desperately right now.

Almost as excited by the USA food which is unfamiliar to us and the familiar dominoes pizza as we are to see what you eat at WDW ;)
