Ok so we are heading to the Melting Pot tommorow for our very first trip and our 15th wedding anniversary. ki There is a special for the 30 bucks a person where you get a cheese, salad, certain entree and a chocolate. It would be 60 bucks even before drinks, tax and tip. But if we were to order one cheese at 16 bucks, a single entree at 24 bucks which comes with a salad for me and a chocolate for another 16 bucks it will come out to 56 bucks before drinks, tax and tip. What gives. Will we be getting more food with the 60 dollar total meal vs. buying it all seperately for 56 bucks before the drinks and such. Oh and just how much do they charge for sodas and sweet tea.

Did you sign up on their website? You get a coupon for a free chocolate fondue for two? (I don't remember if there are certain restrictions with it or not).

Thats a great deal! I never get out of there under 100.00 for two! If we had that deal for 30.00 a person here I would go more than once a month LOL!

If I am understanding this correctly, you are getting a second entree for the $60. I think in your calculations, you're adding in a single entree.

May I jump in and ask a question.... I have only been 1 time, I was with girlfriends... it was a nice girls night out.... Now, I am thinking about going with my DH for my birthday next week. The only reason I havent gone with my DH before is that he has food allergies.... so, by sharing the pot to cook in, I basically have to get steak. Is there a way for us to be able to cook in 2different pots? Will it cost me extra? We could share the cheese, and dessert.... he is allergic to seafood and poultry. I am not positive what the dessert dippers are, but assuming they dont have nuts (allergic)... we can share. I would have anything just left out that does have nuts in it.

TIA

Ask for 2 burners when you call for a reservation.

I wonder if it would be helpful to eliminate the cheese or entree. The two times I have gone, I was nearly too stuffed for dessert.

I don't know if it save money. But it makes the chocolate more enjoyable. :).

Many times if I go with my daughter or even with my mom we will get the cheese- then split a meal and still have room for dessert.

That is an awesome deal and I agree you are comparing the price for one entree versus two. Also, I realize this is a budget board, but it is your anniversary. You should feel entitled to splurge. Now if you think it would be too much food for you, that's one thing, but worrying about $4 over an anniversary dinner just seems a bit extreme.

No I am not really worrying about 4 bucks really. Just curious as to what the difference in the offer would be. We are going with the 30 apiece offer. I am really worried about being too stuffed though. That dessert is real important to me and my gut. Lol. What about the cooking styles. Who likes what the best and why. I do know some do cost extra and I dont really know if I would like the broth type thingy.

When I go with girlfriends we always get wine, cheese, and chocolate and skip the entree. And we're still stuffed!

We've never once gotten the entree. And we rarely get something to drink (maybe water). And we're still stuffed when we leave.

They are easy about switching out dessert items. We don't eat marshmallows, and they are totally fine swapping out more strawberries for the marshmallows.

So just ask if anything has nuts (I've never noticed nuts) and if so swap something for that item.

My boyfriend and I always get whatever special they have going on. It's a lot of food and always tasty. You can swap out the specials on the cheese, salads or chocolate for anything on the regular menu you like. We don't drink alcohol so that cuts costs and generally only get water when we go out to eat because I used to work in the restaurant business and can't bring myself to pay the markup on soda that places charge. The big night out, or whatever they call it, is worth the money you will pay for it. Besides, how many 15th anniversary dinners are you going to have really?

I go with three friends on an annual basis -- we get two cheese apps, and two chocolate apps (so four "person servings" of cheese/choc) as well as a soda. We leave STUFFED and the total bill is $95. Think that includes tip. So with just two of you, you should be able to do half that. :)

Well now this darn thread has made me want to go to The Melting Pot---we haven't been there this month yet so I guess tonight will be as good of a time as any!
