Parking garage at the port

Used it July 5th. You now pay when you leave. Suggest you park on the 3rd level. It is closest to the bridge that takes you to the terminal. Keeps the car cool while your away (and dry if you left a window open). Has elevators that make getting luggage from terminal to car easier.

We used the garage and found it to be the same as the outdoor lot. Experience wasn't any better or worse. Its just a place to park, as is the outdoor lot. Follow the signs and you will be fine. Remember where you put your car and you'll be even better.:rotfl:

Thanks - the tips are much appreciated (especially the one about remembering where we parked... Are the parking sections given cute Disney character names? It wouldn't surprise me.

Went on the July 5th cruise. It was a 5 day cruise and the parking garage cost $75. Parked on the first floor since there were plenty of parking spaces. We arrived at the port around 11am.

Just remember that Florida is HOT most of the year. Parking in the garage helped keep the car from becoming an oven.

there is a new option for parking ...

there is a new off site lot just 5 minutes away, just off of 528 at Banana River Drive and they charge $7 a day. It has been getting good reviews. It is outdoor and uncovered but fenced, well lit and close; free shuttle. 10% discount if you reserve on line.

Ditto on reading the good reviews; I'm using them next week. I asked about security and they said the facility is fenced, locked, well-lit and has 24hr video surveillance. Shirley from these boards went out to have a look and had nice things to say.

For me, the $40 saved is what, four Drinks-of-the-Day, with tip?
:thumbsup2

Use your cell phone camera to take a picture of where you parked (or your regular camera or other hand-held device that you won't have packed away!).

Park on level 3 and use the walkway across to the upper level security station and then you're right at the terminal check in area. We did this in April and waited under cover with a could very nice CMs. It was much cooler than waiting downstairs in the hot sun and we were the only 4 upstairs so there was really no line.

So would you unload your party and luggage first in the drop-off area downstairs and the park the car alone or would it be better to go directly to the garage with everyone in the car and use the upper terminal access? What about luggage check-in?

We just did this -- we dropped off everyone plus luggage in the drop off area, then I just looped around into the garage and parked. I walked across the walkway and met the others in the terminal after going through the upper security line. It was a piece of cake.

I can't emphasize enough, though, a point above -- the garage only takes Mastercard and Visa. They really ought to publicize this a bit more on the way in. When I travel, I usually try to reduce the size of my wallet and was only carrying Amex. Given the line of cars paying on the way out, I was fortunate I had enough cash.

I know not many people check out the Port Canaveral site, but it is listed there.

I agree there should be more signs indicating what cards are accepted.
