I've seen the pics here:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2711338

But I was thinking about making a bow cover for it for my daughter and maybe some pirate/spy type cover for my son's does anyone know the actual dimensions? And does anyone know if this will interfere with scanning them in? Would I need to make it easy to pull off to scan the kids or would it scan through cloth?

Thanks in advance!

I don't know about the sensor but it seems like it might not hold up for swimming.

IIRC, the bracelets are RFID and a cloth covering should not affect the reader (but no guarantees, 'cause we haven't tested it). As the PP mentioned, swimming with the cloth may not be good (but the bracelets are waterproof)

We would take the kids sensors off and the club would just put on another band everytime the kids went to the club. The only thing is that you need to be careful not to loose the RFID sensors (you will get charged if they go missing).

One thing to keep in mind is that the wristbands they attach the sensors with have identifying information printed on them, and would need to be visible to the Youth Activities staff when the child is in the club. So if you want to make a cover - great! I'd recommend something that either doesn't cover the band, or something that they can remove altogether when they're in the club (it's less likely to get completely messy that way, too! :rotfl:)

Here is kind of a weird question...but how "high" are the scanners at the Kids Club. If I were to put it on my 9 y/o's leg, would I have to lift him to scan him in/out, or could he lift his leg high enough to do it himself?

1) The auto handwashers on the Dream (maybe on the classic ships now) will get whatever you kids have on their wrists soaked.

2) The scanners are at wasit level.

Not trying to be a contrarian, but kids tend to adapt to these things really easily. I might think twice before I outfitted one with a wristband kozie. May be way more trouble that it's worth.

Our kids had them applied at the start of the cruise, and removed on the last night. No complaints. No problems.

That must have been nice! My daughter kept slipping her Mickey band off during the WBTA cruise last fall. We must have had it reapplied 10 times over the 14 day cruise. I don't know how she kept getting out of it, since once it was off, it was too small to get back on.

It's less about the kid adjusting and more about something ugly being in family photos.
So no one can tell me the size?

Sorry, I can't help you on the size :(
But I do know that we just snipped/slipped the band off when we didn't need it and asked for a new one to be applied when we got to the club. My DD6 was highly sensitive to it, and we often asked them to remove it as we signed her out. As long as she had the RFID thing with her when we signed her in it was no problem to get a new wrist band.

regarding where to put the band- on our recent Med cruise, we saw lots of kids with them around their ankle

my daughter had it around her wrist. we cut it off one day (though they said we could cut it off any day we wanted)... i can't remember why... but i just put the sensor thing in the safe and then next time we brought her to the club we had them re-band her.

props to the kids club people though -- they even put a band (w/o a sensor) around my daughter's bunny that she takes everywhere... it had my daughter's name and other identifying info that if found, they could find us to return it. very smart! i can't believe i never thought of doing that!

I see others have put them on ankles but when we were on the Dream on June 7th, they wouldn't let my DGD 9. She was very disappointed.

If you don't want them showing up in family photos, just take it off and put it in your pocket. That's the easiest solution.

The kids club staff will make a new band the next time you drop your child off. the process takes maybe 30 seconds.

On our last cruise, my two daughters broke their bands a couple times from just messing with them. And toward the end, the information on them became faded, so the staff took them off and printed new ones.

Put it in the ankle, it is much better than the wrist. We did the wrist first, but my daughter didn't like it, because it showed in the pictures, so we asked and they put it in her ankle and was perfect. We saw a lot of kid wearing in that way.
