Anyone mail a box ahead of time and did it arrive as planned?

We're less than 3 months out, I've got to mail at least 2 boxes (we've got 3 cabins), so I'm wondering how your boxes arrived. Anyone out there done this and when were your box(es) delivered? And was everything ok when you got your box(es)? TIA:thumbsup2

I mailed a box for our Christmas cruise. I double-checked all of the info posted on this site, and also called the warehouse POC to confirm what would happen. We boarded, ate lunch, and went to the concierge meet/greet. I asked about the box and was told it was in our stateroom. Got to the room - no box. I called the warehouse, and asked the concierge about it, too. The warehouse insisted it had been delivered, but no one could find it for over 3 hours. It arrived at our room right as we sailed away and was probably on the ship the entire time, but I never really got the scoop on what happened. I was a nervous wreck because I had stupidly put a lot of my Christmas-surprise stuff in it (note to self on never doing that again!)

So - yes, it works, but it was a nail-biter for us, anyway!

Yes it works, used it a year ago on the WONDER> HOWever, the boxes are late delivery to the cabin - suitcases go first! It will drive you nuts wondering if the stuff is on board. We did get it - but late the first day - I think around Sailaway time

Yes, several times. One of the times they did have to do a search for it, but it was on the ship and made it to the cabin later that afternoon. All the other times it was in the cabin waiting for us.

I think for some reason the 'displaced' package was mixed in with the crew mail/packages and was located there.

We have shipped a box to our hotel that we stayed at the night before the cruise. It worked great. I called the hotel to make sure we could do it and had it delivered to the hotel 2 days before we arrived.

Just did it in May and it worked perfectly for me...was sitting in the room at 1 when we first got there. It was a great help & no delays or nail biting for us.

:goodvibes

OK. This sounds like a much sweeter deal than the way we did it before sending it to the hotel. Where did you get the information with the address to send the box(es)?

The info is on the DCL FAQ thread...tells you exactly how to do it!

THANKS everyone for all your responses...have to send my FE gifts down that way, and thinking about putting my FE and maybe snorkel gear in it too, but wanted to know everyone's results before I try! Whew...sounds ok to do it!:thumbsup2

Here is a link to the shipping info.

It says in there that the box you ship will come onboard with the crew mail, so it may or may not be in the room when you get there.

I too mailed our box of FE gifts, odds and ends and snorkel gear. It worked out great. Our box was a little mis-shapened by the time we got it, but I was happy it made it. It was sitting on the floor when we arrived in the room and our room host was sure to point it out to us as well. Just make sure you address it very clearly on all four sides.

Hmmm..I just put the one address on the front, and attached the packing list (which had not been opened, but was there)!

I used one of those flat rate priority boxes & it arrived in perfect condition - everything heavy that would fit, got squeezed in!! Just remember, no food! If the dogs go after it, no telling where it will end up!! :scared1:

:thumbsup2Thanks again everyone! Quick question for those who have done it. I got 2 boxes 12x12x12 that were to be used for moving..but would the postoffice priority mail boxes be better? I noticed one poster said their box was a little smashed, while the other was not bothered at all. Are priority boxes handled gentler? I'm a little nervous about my FE gifts getting broken. Not glass, but they can be crushed. Any thoughts about the type of box?

I shipped my box in May about two weeks ahead of our cruise and it was on time, waiting in our stateroom.

Someone on my MR this year mailed a box ahead & it did not arrive. It contained all their FE gifts. They ended up buying more in Mexico - which actually ended up to be really cool - we all got little Mexican souvenirs :thumbsup2

 OH NO! Now I'm worried! I went to alot of trouble on my FE gifts and would NOT want them to be lost...hmmmmm...will be thinking! May have to 'track' them...:goodvibes Thanks for sharing!

Hopefully it works for you!

Last year I mailed a box that did not arrive, even though it was tracked:(

Two weeks after our cruise DCL found it, shipped it back and included an apology note that they misplaced it. Luckily the only thing in the box was our FE gifts (which sucked, but it could've been essentials!).

Personally I would never ship another box, but others have had great luck!

:( Oh, that makes me so sad :sad2:...but I don't know what else to do..can't bring them on the plane with us...so really don't have a choice...so maybe I'll get some pixiedust: and it'll be ok..! And it is just my Fe stuff, so I guess we'd just 'bow' out if we didn't get them so it'd be fair. But here's hoping!:thumbsup2
