This thread has been started to officially plan for a DisBoard Gamers DisMeet for the first week of October, 2013.

A number of us DisGamers have been having the standard one-line conversation in a couple of the games threads and we thought it would be a great idea to meet up at Walt Disney World.

It only took us about 3 days, 2 threads (that I know of) and about 30 posts to settle on the proposed date.

So, with over 2 years to plan and save, we would like you to consider the prospect of coming along and putting faces and names with the DisBoard screen names.

The details of the plan will be worked out over the duration; so feel free to join in the planning fun and let us know if you're coming along.

Feels strange to post this as the originator of this thread....but.....

I'm in!

I've been an official Dis-ser since Feb 2010; and spend a vast amount of time on the Games section. I love the word games and being LAST!

I also love food and enjoy taking pictures of food, fireworks and fun where ever possible....so you'll also catch me hanging out on the photoboard as well.

I'm likely to be attending with DH and my DS. DS is still at school and will be on break officially between 21 September and heading back to school on the 7 October.

Not sure how long we will be away for, but it would appear that the first week in October works well for the US.

I'd love to meet up with as many other DisGamers as possible and am looking forward to planning this trip.

Who's Coming

Bobbiwoz (TBC)
Kitty 34 (TBC)
PrincessInOz
franandaj (TBC)
DisneyFirefly (TBC)

So far I'm at least acquainted with everyone here (played on the game boards, or Bobbiwoz also on the DVC boards :worship: in awe of your Pre-retirement vacation!)

There are a number of other gamers that I recognize and would love to meet up with! I'm in for the more late September early Oct ish dates especially once they announce the F&W dates for 2013. I own at BCV so I'll probably be staying there, but also at SSR, & VGC so those are options too. We'll have to see as it gets closer!

Well, my brain's feeling a little better (no, not hungover, just a long story), so... I shall introduce myself to those who don't know me :yay:

 I'm Dana, I'm 27, born and bred in Chicago. I'm a former WDW CM. I worked at BWI in 2004 and MK in 2008. I'm a walking map of MK and DHS (ask PrincessInOz :lmao:). I've been on the Dis for two years next month and usually post on the Lasting threads and lurk on the wedding boards :rotfl: I also wander around the other boards.

This is me, which was taken by PrincessInOz in October. I love pin trading, but I'm not obsessive over it. I actually started loving it when I worked at MK, as it was a fantastic guest interaction. I was in custodial in Liberty Square, Fantasyland, and Frontierland. I absolutely loved working there and would go back in a heartbeat if I could. I can give directions around MK easier than I can around Chicago, and can do it without even being there.

My non-Disney interests include horror and sci-fi movies, rock music, baking, and writing. My favorite comedian is Eddie Izzard. I'm known for making geeky jokes (yeah, the opening show at DHS? I got the 3.14/"easy as pi" joke before PrincessInOz did) and quoting movies. I love to do research and am usually the first one to google something and post a link. I'm the type of person who can spend hours on Wikipedia or TV Tropes, starting on one thing and following links until I wind up on something vastly different.

So, that's me. Nice to meet those of you I don't already know! :yay:

Hi!:yay:

The first week of October 2013 will most likely be the first October that I'm not teaching! I'll be a retired math adjunct professor:cheer2: I'm looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible! Most of my posts have been on the game board, with the DVC boards being my next popular hangout, Hi. franandaj!:flower3:

My first trip was to Disneyland in 1963, which was the summer before I was a senior in high school, and my mother and I took a rail trip across Canada to our West Coast down to the Grand Canyon and back to NJ where we are from. (We were in coach, many had compartments, but we made do!) Mom wanted me to appreciate this country and she instilled a love of travel in me and she wanted me to keep my mind on books (not boys:rotfl:) and get a good education. Mom was a waitress and worked hard and her hope was that I could have it easier. Thank you mom, you have been my inspiration in life:love:. Years later, my dad and mom took my younger DSis on a similar trip with the same goal. My DSis is my best friend and maybe she will join me on this Disboard meet trip. She's going with me in January and we'll meet Meriweather, she's on this board and I hope she'll consider coming to this meet.

So, that's how I learned to love to travel...maybe someday I'll meet Princess on her turf. Until then, I'm looking foward to meeting her and the rest of you!

I feel like I didn't give a deep enough description of myself! :lmao:

Here's me on our last trip to the world.

DSCN1392.jpg

I live in Long Beach, about 25 minutes from the place where the magic all began. I'm not sure where I got the travel bug or the Disney gene because it certainly wasn't from my parents. They shipped me back to my grandparents house in Boston every summer (where I grew up until I was 5), and that was the extent of my travels other than one trip to Disneyland and one trip to Hawaii. However once I turned 18, I took road trips with my boyfriends and decided that traveling was something I enjoyed. In addition I really liked going to Disneyland.

Fast forward a few years and my partner and I have been AP holders at DL for as long as we have been together (almost 15 years). We both had a love of WDW when we met. Our other interests include playing music, Sci Fi, cats, fine dining, history and much more. We bought into DVC about five years ago and I've been enjoying our visits to WDW ever since. We make our living managing property, so as long as our units are rented I have time on my hands, if there are plumbing disasters, or we have to clean and show units, I'm busy.

I joined the DISboards a little less than two years ago. Mostly I hang out on the resort threads whether they are the owners and lovers threads for my Groupies at the WL or the VGC, AKV, BCV or SSR and some of the hotel threads. I used to hang out on the game boards at bit until we went into hyper Estate Sale mode about six months ago. My in-laws passed away within the last few years and we are finally getting the house ready for the estate sale, remodeling and fixed up for a tenant. Until life exploded, I had plenty of time to hang out on the boards.

Other than my UserCP you'll find me in the DVC section and the DLR boards. I love to cook, and the highlight of my year used to be the DCA F&W Festival with the highest point being the Napa Rose Cooking School. They canceled that this year so I'm looking forward to the Epcot F&W Festival.

I'm hoping that soon life gets back to normal and I can go back to my life of leisure and planning my Disney trips. I look forward to meeting everyone in a couple years if not sooner.

I'll give this a bump...there's sadness around my house, we had to put our DDog Emma down, she had been failing and finally all she was able to do was to wag her tail as we petted her.

Sorry to hear about that. We have lost a lot of our cats in the last six months, they were old and not enjoying life. I know how it feels.

Thank you, Kitty. franandaj, my heart goes out to you.

I have been looking at animal rescue links. We are caring for Irving and Murphy:dog::dog2: while their parents are vacationing, so we haven't had an empty house yet. There's room in my heart for a new one, and DH will help find one.

I just sent in an application to rescue a 7 year old black lab. Wish us success.

Here I am at F&G this March.

Good luck on the application!

This is our dog. She's a boxer-mastiff mutt, and really just an overgrown baby :lmao:

Good luck with the application, Bobbi. Thanks for sharing the pic. Love the kitty!!

It's going to take me 'til 2013 to try and figure out how to post a pic of me on this thing!!! I'm so not computer savvy!!!:headache:

Good luck Bobbi! Nice picture with Marie.

I'm surprised that you have to apply, here people are begging people to take rescues there are so many.

That's sad, about there being so many. This particular rescue has 6. One is 12 yrs., and that's sad to me. Maybe if we get the 7 yr. Old one, I'll take a look at her, and take them both. DH would have to approve, of course. I need help walking one!

I could just hug your boxer-mastiff! I can tell a sweetie when I see one!

Bobbi:goodvibes

Yeah, she's a sweetheart :) We got her from my mom's meat manager and I consider her a rescue. When we got her, she was so skinny that you could count her ribs across the room. She was terrified to be left alone, and also afraid of the broom. She can be left alone now, but not for long periods of time. She's still nervous about the broom, but not as bad as it was. She does love being in my bedroom, though, since it's air conditioned :lmao:
