Anybody have a no-fail cookie recipe?

I am looking for an amazing no-fail ccokie recipe. Rather than buy year-end teachers' gifts, I'd love to make each teacher a batch of amazing cookies. I was thinking of making an oatmeal/cranberry/chocolate chip cookie, that I make a lot, but I'd really prefer something more in season. Any ideas?

While I think the thought is nice. As a teacher, I wouldn't eat them. I am very careful about eating things my students/parents have baked. I don't know how clean someones kitchen is or if little fingers "helped" make them.

I would thank you very nicely and into the trash they would go after you left. You could put together a very cool baking kit from the dollar store and include some cookie mix or even just a $5 gift card from Starbucks.

I bet the majority of teachers feel the same way.

I always make cookies in bulk and will admit that I cheat.

I go to BJ's and get a big ol' tub of cookie dough in the refrigerator section and I can easily make over 12 dozen Chocolate Chip cookies in no time flat. I can't imagine why you wouldn't be able to mix in other ingredients into the batter to make it a little more exciting.

I make Cowboy Cookies at Christmas (google Laura Bush Cowboy Cookie recipe) - they have chocolate chips, pecans, coconut and oatmeal in them. One recipe makes a LOT of cookies.

I have a few friends who are teachers and they would probably not eat the cookies. I don't know if they would throw them away but they wouldn't eat them themselves.

One of the best gifts they get are a gift card to staples or office max or target. They often spend yheir own money on supplies so any help is appreciated.

If you wanted to do something baking related maybe a cookie recipe with a package of chips tied with a nice ribbon and card?

Teacher here: A five dollar gift card is much better. I eat cookies IF I know the parent well...and IF she is there when they are given so I can ask about items in the cookies( allergies) but without these two thing I would not eat them either.

I agree that I wouldn't eat cookies given to me by a parent; a gift card is a much better idea. Or make a non-edible gift.

In both of my children's grammar/middle schools (small to medium enrollment) it was a requirement that the teachers throw away all homemade food items (even the mason jar kits that you would bake).

While I think it is a nice idea, think about how much work you would be putting in to the gift to have it thrown out.

A small gift card is the best gift.

Both my daughters are teachers, and they receive baked goods all the time, and unfortunately they all go in the trash. If it isn't wrapped or sealed from a store or bakery it's discarded. It's a shame, but that's the way the world has become.

Don't waste your time or your money. Gift cards are always appreciated, or maybe some nice store bought (and sealed) jams/jellies. The recipe card written by your child (if possible) with a key ingredient is also a nice thought.

...and please no more #1 teacher mugs!!!

my mom is a teacher, and she doesn't eat anything unless it's a factory-wrapped item (i.e. a snickers candybar). she just doesnt know the family, if any germs get in it, etc. also, a lot of teachers get trinket-y gifts that don't get used (except my mom got 3 nice ornaments over the years for our christmas tree). Honestly, a homemade card with a nice note, a gift card, or something you KNOW the teacher would like/use (i.e. my mom loves Disney, so students know that giving her a disney stuffed animal is likely to end up in next year's classroom).

but for a no-fail all-occasion cookie, i like chocolate chip-cheesecake squares (layer choc. cookie batter, cheesecake filling, cookie layer on top). it's original and tasty. anyone feel free to PM for a recipe, don't want to spam the thread

Our school is very small (170 families, Nursery through eighth grade), and my kids' teachers know me personally, and have always enjoyed my cooking/baking for birthday parties, bake sales, etc. We are baking so that my boys can be part of making the gift, and I am sure they won't end up in the trash. I was hoping for some recipes-I will definitely google the Laura Bush cookie recipe.

My favorite school bake sale story is the mother who brought in home baked cookies for the annual sale bragging about how her children, who were home from school sick, helped her bake them. The kids came in to the school with her to drop them off with their noses running and coughing everywhere. Needless to say, I didn't but those cookies.

If you are sure the teacher will eat what you make then I have a peanut butter chocolate fudge recipe that is very easy if you are interested.

Cake mix cookies! They are always a hit and you barely need any ingredients for these at all. The best part is you can swap out the cake mix for any flavor (vanilla, funfetti, red velvet, devils food cake) and add whatever ingredients you want (white chocolate chips, raisins, peanuts). The possibilities are endless and I make these whenever I have a time constraint because it's fast and uses ingredients I already have on hand. Hope that helps!

P.S. I'm a teacher and I always enjoy the treats my students bring in for me. It's heartfelt and I figure, what kind of germs could I be exposed to that they don't already bring into the classroom anyway?
