A Disney Dream Come True - Nov/Dec TR ~ Oct10 Another TR :)

I'd promised an update this week, and so you shall! Firstly, I thank you from the bottom of my heart if you are still reading this report that has taken foreverrrrrrr to kick out. :flower3: Next, happy father's day to all those awesome dads out there! :cool2:

OK, now let's see. Where did I leave off? Oh yes, we were just leaving the Magic Kingdom on the Christmas parade taping day to head to the Boardwalk. We'd lucked out on the crowds this day... basically if you stayed away from Main Street, it was a fairly typical crowd day, even leaning on the lighter side. :thumbsup2 It had been a great day so far saying hello to Snow White, double whammied the mountains with a splash and a crazy train, greeting a Princess Frog and getting pixie dusted! Oh and of course, our silly encounter with a naughty Stitch. :stitch2:

The next part of our day was a first for us all. We were finally heading over to the Boardwalk! I'd intentionally booked a dinner at Kouzina this day so that we'd have to go -- every year something would pop up and we'd never made it. Weeks before we were supposed to go however, Disney decided to do some refurbs at Kouzina during our trip and our reservation was cancelled. With a little help from my DIS friends, we booked a replacement dinner at the Captain's Grille. :thumbsup2

We were pretty much on schedule leaving MK when we did. I'd wanted to tour the Boardwalk before eating so we weren't too tired afterwards.

Seems odd to me now to see the Christmas decorations on such a warm spring day today. While we toured the Yacht club for a little bit, Demetri found the little TV area and was soon sucked into the cartoons playing.

2010_1204Misc0287.jpg

Heading outside, we had a bizarre encounter with an overly friendly squirrel that seemed like he really just wanted to play with us.

2010_1204Misc0288.jpg

He'd come close and then dart away and Demetri was cautious but laughing at him at the same time. The squirrel figured out we had no treats for him so he took his one-squirrel-show down the road for the next family.

Now I'll let my pictures do the talking .... enjoy the tour!

Full circle! It was a very nice walk and it was beautiful as it became darker and the lights all came on. My only disappointment was there were no performances at all going on. No shows, no entertainment. :confused3 Guess our timing was off this time.

Heading back inside, we checked in for our dinner and walked around a bit more in the Yacht Club.

It took awhile before they were ready for us so Alex made himself a bit more comfortable.

Our pager thingie went off not long after and we headed back to the restaurant.

Alex was quick to note how we'd been given a hat as a special gift at our table....

2010_1204Misc0354.jpg

I've mentioned before I tell him all the time he's odd, right?

Orders taken, everyone got down to some SERIOUS colouring. We were colouring up a storm!

2010_1204Misc0356.jpg

For whatever reason those are the only two pictures I took but everyone raved about how well their dinners were. :thumbsup2 We were still bummed Kouzina had closed...

2010_1204Misc0308.jpg

(...from earlier in our walk)

... but Captain's Grille was a yummy backup. Time for dessert and I asked everyone to order light because we were going to head to another new place for an after dinner treat. Can you guess where?

Demetri wanted to rest his eyes for a little bit before dessert came and the inevitable happened.....

2010_1204Misc0357.jpg

2010_1204Misc0359.jpg

So while George and Demetri headed back to Pop, the rest of us went back walking.

We then slowly started to make our way towards Beaches and Cream. I couldn't wait to try the No Way Jose!!

2010_1204Misc0380.jpg

2010_1204Misc0381.jpg

We were here!!

2010_1204Misc0382.jpg

But.... that's as far as we got. We didn't get passed the front door. :sad2: The CM manning the podium said there was a 2 hour wait to get in. No tables were available, no counter stools were available, no outside seating was available and there was no 'to-go' service. The No Way Jose on this trip was not meant to be.

We decided to head back to Pop but first wanted to quickly check out the pool area.

2010_1204Misc0383.jpg

2010_1204Misc0384.jpg

Back to the bus area and just a quick wait for a bus.

2010_1204Misc0386.jpg

2010_1204Misc0387.jpg

While we were waiting, we snacked a bit on the desserts we'd ordered from Captain's Grille and boxed up.

2010_1204Misc0388.jpg

Despite the failed Beaches and Cream expedition, we'd had a marvelous day!

Yay I was glad to see you had updated!

The Boardwalk/Beach and Yacht Club area looks gorgeous, and Captain's Grille looks like a really good back up restaurant

Can't wait for more

Sad that you couldn't have a No Way Jose. On my last visit we went to Beaches and Cream and our server said that the wait gets up to two hours regularly. It's because it's such a small restaurant! I had never been before and couldn't believe how tiny it was.

The Boardwalk area is sooo nice, I'm really glad we had the dinner booked at Captain's Grille. Left to our own devices, I don't think we would have left Magic Kingdom. Captain's Grille worked out great. :thumbsup2

I couldn't believe it! I wish I'd researched it better to have known about the long waits like that. I was so disappointed I couldn't have a No Way Jose, I must have asked the CM about five times if he was sure. :rotfl:

Wow! That wasn't just an update... that was a super sized update! :thumbsup2

I LOVED looking at all the pictures around the Beach Club, Yacht Club & Boardwalk!

Great Update Tracy. I have never seen the entertainment on the Boardwalk either. I wanna go to that clothing store that had the cute pincess skirts!!!!

No Way Jose wasn't as good as I hoped, maybe the Kitchen Sink will be good!!!!

It was such a great night. I just loved walking around the entire area and slowly watching the sun go down. :goodvibes

It's funny, we didn't go into a single store, just walked slowly around. Those skirts are really cute! I sooo want the No Way Jose which is weird really because I'm not a big ice cream eater, but it looks so darn yummy! With all six of us though, I'm sure we could polish off the kitchen sink.

Well, I certainly enjoyed that photo tour!! Now do you see why we love visiting the Boardwalk? :goodvibes I just love it there!

That stinks you couldn't get into Beaches and Cream. When we stayed at the BCV and went there I was surprised at how small it was too! And the takeout window isn't as good...you can't get any of the sundaes. :guilty:

Ooohhh...I love all your pictures around the Boardwalk and the Beach/Yacht Clubs! They really made me want to stay there someday.:cloud9: We'll definitely have to make a point to at least visit the resorts next year!!:thumbsup2

Too bad about not being able to go to Kouzzina or Beaches and Cream.:sad2: But the Captain's Grille seemed like a great alternative.:goodvibes I've been starting to try and figure out where we want to eat next year and have been pouring over the menus trying to see if I can make everyone happy. (as you know...lots of picky eaters in my house:rolleyes:) I was hoping for Beaches and Cream but...I guess I shouldn't count on it.:confused3

What a great day you had!! Can't wait to read more!

Absolutely! The weather co-operated too and it was a gorgeous night, not too chilly. :thumbsup2

Dang, I don't even remember seeing a take out window. I think I was just too sad.

Oh yes, definately at least take a walk around the Boardwalk area. Early evening so you can watch the sunset. :goodvibes

Woo hoo for starting to plan your next trip! Did you see Amy's Family Feud game? Maybe that could help! :thumbsup2

I swear I have been reading along all along, but have never commented! It looks like your week continued on its path to awesomeness after our GTG! I promise to stick around and comment more!

Oh and did you see my ticker? My moms only trip was totally spurred on by reading abut all the fun you Spectrum Moms had!

Hey you! No worries, I do that too - glad you're still here :goodvibes

Yay!!! :thumbsup2 :yay: :thumbsup2 :yay:

Hi Tracy! I have spent a bit of time this evening reading your entire TR - sorry but skipped the chatter.

Anyway, wish I had taken notes but will try and comment on what I can remember!

I love the Christmas tree pics and the whole feel of being at Disney World at such a special time. Oh my the Osborne lights looked awesome - esp the shot with the glasses effect! :thumbsup2

I was sorry to read about your not so good DHS day but am glad you managed to redo it. It seemed like Demetri enjoyed Hollywood and Vine in the end esp when he met Special Agent Oso.

You ate at a lot of places we will be trying in Sept so enjoyed reading your food reviews. Wow at the wait at 1900 PF but am glad you guys enjoyed the experience. I agree in that Alice does look a bit funny in the pics.

Loved the Dinosaur pic at AK! Your resort and DTD day sounds like a fun time esp doing the hand jive! :rotfl: Thanks for sharing the pics of Pop - you have given me some more ideas on what I want to see at the resort.

Great pics of Boardwalk and the Epcot resorts. It's a shame you did not manage to get a No Way Jose.

Wow at all the DIS meets - it was great how you kept running into people.

Sorry for writing an essay but although I have joined a bit late I'm looking forward to reading more :goodvibes

Lovely photos, the Yacht & Beach Club is a gorgeous resort. Really well themed.

Looks like you had a great dinner at Captain's Grille, yummy yummy :)

Hey Tanz! :welcome: Glad to have you along!

Absolutely one of my very favorite memories! :goodvibes

Just too much was packed into that day -- lesson learned and yes, thank heavens it only got better from there!

I'm very glad we did the breakfast at 1900 PF but I really do enjoy the dinners better. We had a very memorable experience with the Stepsisters on our Spectrum Mom's trip... but we haven't got there yet in our TR.... :rotfl:

Loved the Dinosaur pic at AK! Your resort and DTD day sounds like a fun time esp doing the hand jive! :rotfl: Thanks for sharing the pics of Pop - you have given me some more ideas on what I want to see at the resort.

I have the hand jive song from Grease on my computer and it pops up once in a while when I'm listening at work.... brings a smile to my face everytime!

Great pics of Boardwalk and the Epcot resorts. It's a shame you did not manage to get a No Way Jose.

This next trip for sure I WILL get that No Way Jose! :thumbsup2

Wow at all the DIS meets - it was great how you kept running into people.

Planned or not, all my DIS meets were great... I think there are even more coming up in our next day. I think I ran into 20thingamabobs (Whitney) at least twice that day! :rotfl:

Sorry for writing an essay but although I have joined a bit late I'm looking forward to reading more :goodvibes

Glad you're here  I'm getting close to finishing up!

Lovely photos, the Yacht & Beach Club is a gorgeous resort. Really well themed.

Looks like you had a great dinner at Captain's Grille, yummy yummy :)

The Beach Club is definately high up there on my wish list. :cloud9: Just gorgeous all around and how wonderful to come 'home' to that every day on vacation?!

I am so happy to see your Yacht Club photos. ....since I will be staying ther in Aug! :cool1:
I want to give Beaches and Cream a try too, but I always worry when I go it will be too busy and I will have wasted time to get there.
