Let the memories (of our May 2011 trip) begin! *UPDATED SEPT. 18th- LINK to NEW TR!*

I have seen other picture of these things on the boards. But this is the first one that show how huge that sandwich really is. :scared1: Did you say that is was 1 snack credit ?? If so, my family is so going to split that when we go .... in TEN days !!! :cool1:

Apparently the Main Street Bakery is the ONLY place where you can still get one of those with a snack credit.

I know your family is going to love it.

:woohoo: on finding a great spot to watch MSEP! I wish we have the same success on our trip.

Lol at Beatriz recognising her glow stick was different then the ones sold at the parks!

Love the Main Street pics and mmm at that Ice Cream Cookie sandwich! :cloud9: Having seen it before I can't wait to try one.

Great family shot! I hope you get to watch Wishes later on in the trip.

That was my reaction as well! I never new they were so big, I even called over DBF to show him how big they are:lmao:.

Those Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich is humongous!!! I love to try it but gotta have someone else committing to share. I don't think I could even finish quater of it. :thumbsup2

Sounds like a great day:goodvibes

That ice cream sandwich looks so good! I've never seen how big it actually is since no one ever takes a picture next to anything. Awesome snack credit use:thumbsup2

Too bad Beatriz caught on to the dollar store glow sticks. I guess it couldn't last forever.

What a great first night in the MK! That is an AMAZING photo of the three of you as you are leaving! Wow!!!

I had that cookie sandwhich once- I think I was alone in the park at the time and boy did that induce a sugar-shock.

That is a great Family picture :goodvibes

Thank you! It is one of my favorites from the entire trip and it somewhat served as an inspiration for the title of this TR. ;)

Enjoying your report!
Your daughter is adorable.

Thank you and :welcome:. Hoping you stick around. :)

I have just caught up with reading your TR, I am glad you had such a great first day. I am sorry that you hit a wall, but your DH is right you always can go back later. Your daughter is so cute :cutie:! I can't wait to read more.

Thank you!
Our first day lived up to the expectations. I could not have asked for more even if we did not get to stay for Wishes. :)

Love the update on MK. :goodvibes

Thank you. There is more to come....

I believe if you get to main street around 45 minutes (less if the crowd level is low) before the parade you should be fine. For us it is always a little tricky because we need to squeeze in the stroller somewhere too but you should be fine.

I guess my glow stick gig was not meant to last forever. :lmao: It was great while it lasted though.

Trust me, that ice cream sandwich is as good as it looks!

That was my reaction as well! I never new they were so big, I even called over DBF to show him how big they are:lmao:.

They are huge and enough for two, even though my husband managed to have it all to himself. :rolleyes1

I know I could not finish one on my own but I know a lot of people can (my husband included). I am sure you won't have a problem finding someone willing to share it with you. ;)

I guess it is fair to say it was the last time I was able to use my dollar store glow stick trick. It was good while it lasted though...

I believe the ice cream sandwich is probably one of the best "snack values" in all WDW. I know it is sold in other places but, if I remember correctly, only the Main Street Bakery will take a snack credit for it. I really, really hope they keep it like that!

What a great first night in the MK! That is an AMAZING photo of the three of you as you are leaving! Wow!!!

Thanks, I love that picture too! Specially because there is nobody else on the background. I guess everybody else was inside waiting for Wishes to start!

That ice cream sandwich is amazing, isn't it? It is A LOT of sugar and I can't handle one on my own. I was happy taking little bites from Joey's though. Let"s just say that was not the only time we had one during our trip. :rolleyes1

Day 2- Friday- May 13th 2011- Hollywood Studios Day!

247069_2119137054977_1142283436_2563689_5894803_n.jpg

... or like Beatriz would say "Hollywoody" Studios. :lmao:

We did not set up the alarm for this day. The goal of this trip was to try to take it easy. :rotfl2:

I was still quite wired and excited to be at Disney so I ended up waking up before everyone else and just tossed and turned in bed until I couldn't anymore. I knew the sun was up already but I could not hear a soul outside so I assumed it was very early but decided to get up anyways.

Oddly enough I did not check the time. I just got up, washed my face, put my glasses on, a hoodie over my PJ's and decided to go out to explore the hotel.

IN. MY. PIJAMAS.

So I make my way outside and everything still looks very quiet. I take some pictures, I get the elevator down and then I go to the cafeteria to buy my mug and grab something for our breakfast.

Well friends, that place was pumping!!! There was people everywhere, all geared up and ready to go. And I am suddenly self- conscious to be in my pijamas. Not sure I had even combed my hair.

So I decided to rock my pijamas look and explore the breakfast options. I ended up buying a fruit cup (1 snack credit) and some toasts (0.60$ for two) to go. And just as I am filling up my mug with some coffee the CMs started doing the twist!!! :upsidedow

Did you know that every morning at 8 o'clock everybody at Pop Century stop doing whatever they are doing to do the twist??? Well, I didn't. :confused3 And that moment made me so happy that I started crying!

That's right! I was a disheveled woman, holding a coffee mug in her PJ's and crying at 8am in the middle of Pop Century. On a Friday, 13th. I am telling you. It does not get much better than that!

Now this is maybe the appropriate time to explain (for those of you who already don't know) that one month before our trip I suffered a miscarriage and a couple of days before our trip I got my period back which was border line hemorrhagic and almost brought me back to the hospital so... to say that I was HORMONALLY UNBALANCED is probably an understatement. :scared1: Let's just say it was not the last time I broke out in tears unexpectedly during the trip... :rolleyes1

Anyways, I picked myself up and went back to our room. This was past 8 o' clock and DHS opened at 9am that day. I got to the room and gently woke up every one. Luckily they were both re energized and ready to go. We had breakfast in our room and were able to make it to the bus stop shortly after 9 am.

247143_2119613106878_1142283436_2564486_6716142_n.jpg

We got to the park a little before 10 am and while Joey ran ahead of us to get FP's for Toy Story Mania, I asked someone to take a picture of Beatriz and I but... she wasn't having it.

251184_2119136134954_1142283436_2563686_2270450_n.jpg

With FP's in hand we started the day at "The Voyage of the Little Mermaid". There was no wait and we walked straight into the pre show area. And that is when Beatriz announces she has to go to the bathroom for number 2. Since she has a tendance of being constipated I never ask her to "hold it in" because you never know when she might ask to go again. There was just one thing to do: get out of there and run to the bathroom. :headache:

Little did I know that this was going to happen MULTIPLE times during the trip.

Last year Beatriz was not fully potty trained before our trip so I just put her on pull ups everyday. Not this time. :sad2: Increased intake of liquids combined with a small bladder made this trip the trip of the inconvenient potty breaks.

By the time we got back to "The Little Mermaid" there was already a bit of waiting but we decided to stick to it and wait.

The show was wonderful! I never get tired of it. I love it specially because Ariel sings live. I think the Ariel we got this time was extra gifted. Her voice was so beautiful and she even made some minor modifications on the melody of "Part of their World" that made it extra special! I just could not help myself: I cried like a baby during the show.

Yes. The ugly cry with tears rolling down my neck. :sad1:

It was going to be a long day....

So after "The Voyage of the Little mermaid" we went straight to Animation Academy. I have ALWAYS wanted to do the drawing class but somehow it always ended up pushed up to later in the day and then it never got done. This time I wanted to squeeze it in early and so we did it.

254237_2119610506813_1142283436_2564475_2679072_n.jpg

One of the CMs was talking to all the guests waiting for the drawing class and asking us some trivia questions about classic Disney movies. Questions like what was the name of the dog at Cinderella's movie. After someone would come up with the answer he would then explain tons of fun details about the characters and the movie that most people don't know about. It was a very informal setting and I could hear that guy talking for the rest of the day.

Then it was our turn. We go into the the class room, grab our seats, hear the instructions from the animator and just as I am about to start drawing Beatriz announces that she needs to go to the bathroom. AGAIN!!!!!! :scared1: Are you kidding me? So I run out of the room with her and explained the situation to the CM guarding the exit. He said I could try to run and walk back into the class if I promised not to bother anyone else. I said I was seating at the edge of the aisle so I wouldn't be blocking anyone's view. I could just sneak back into the class unnoticed. So that is what I did.

By the time we got back they were quite advanced in their drawing but Joey helped me to catch up. Pheeew!

Ready to finally start:

I know it looks like just a bunch of random traces and it could be just my "mother eyes" but I can totally see she gave it a fair attempt:

Looking closely you can kinda tell the head from the hat and the head from the beak. Just saying....

At the end of the presentation we walked up to Brian and I apologized for any disturbance we might have caused. He autographed Bea's drawing and was very nice.

Joey loved the experience and said he would not mind doing it again and again.

Next up:
How many more inconvenient potty breaks and unexpected ugly cries can our family take?

PS. In case you are still trying to remember the name of Cinderella's dog... Its name is Bruno!

What a wonderful day, I always feel emotional at disney and i have no excuse except disney love. I have a picture in my head of you in your pjs though rocking it!!! , you should have done the twist, heyyy just another disney day, and us, the true disney people who "get it" would understand!!! You have made some smashing memories and I hope you achieve your other little goal too.

xxx and loved this instalment. xxx

Love your drawings of Donald!
So glad you were able to get back into the animation class after the potty break.

Love the Donalds!! We gotta try that.... after so many trip, we've never tried animation class. DS 7 will probably do super job since he takes art lessons. ;)

Hollywoody Studios! Love that!

Great start to the morning, even with the crying and the potty emergencies!

The Animation Academy is totally on my wish list to do- the guys are never interested! Your drawings came out really great! I'm impressed that Beatriz made one, too!

Lol at 'Hollywoody' studios! :lmao:

I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage - being emotional is understandable.

Love the faces Beatriz is pulling in the photos - something to show her when she is older!!

All the drawings look great! :thumbsup2

Oh I love that Beatriz calls HS Hollywoody Studios! Love it! I remember those days of my kids needing to take unexpected potty breaks (heck, I still make those :rolleyes1) So glad that you were able to do the drawing class. It's always so much fun.

Oh my goodness...i'm loving your trip report! The video of you daughter is just to cute for words. When she noticed her light stick was different :rotfl2:

It is totally understandable that you are emotional at the moment. Cry away . I am an ugly crier as well, I start to do that hiccup noise when I start to cry and everyone looks at me funny. I will cry at everything. DBF teases me about it all the time.

I am loving the image of you in your PJ's in the food court. I might admit to once or twice in my lifetime running down to the corner store for milk in my PJ's in the early hours of the morning :rolleyes1.

Your Donalds came out looking great, I am really excited to do the animation class despite having an almost non-existent artistic talent :rotfl: should still be fun though.

Thank you very much. I did end up doing the twist later in the trip. And Joey even did the hustle. :rotfl2: Pop was so much fun...

Thank you. I was so thankful they let me back in. Even if you are not artsy at all you can still do a good job. It is definitely something I would include in our itinerary again and again. I am sure your son is going to love it.

Oh Dee... I hope you get to do it one day. It is a lot of fun. Great sense of accomplishment at the end and you get a wonderful keepsake. I was surprised with Beatriz too. She loved the whole thing and it was actually her idea to go talk to the animator at the end of the presentation.

Thank you. Oh yes... I will totally use some of these pictures to embarrass her one day. :rotfl:

I definitely learned during this trip that I have to plan my potty breaks instead of just waiting for them to happen because they always ended up happening at the wrong time. :sad2:

Joey caught me on video at another ugly crying moment later on the trip and, trust me, with was UGLY with capital letters. Oh man... what is it with Disney that brings it out from us?? They must put something in the water!

Anyways, you are going to love the drawing class. The CM told us if you can hold a pencil, you can do it and he was right. The other day Joey and I try to repeat our drawing and it was a total failure. We do need someone guiding us along the way....

WINDOW DECORATION
Before I go on with the report, there is something about that first morning that I forgot to share with you. popcorn::

Before leaving the room that day we also took the time to put up our window decorations.:teeth: I had read that this was the "in" thing to do at Pop Century so I did not want to miss on the fun. :yay: Turns out I did not see too many windows decorated :( and due to the location of our room I don't beieve anyone got to see ours. :sad2:

Ok, maybe the girl from mousekeeping did. :thumbsup2

Anyways, it was nothing fancy but we were proud of it:
