A Hop, NO Skip, and Many Mishaps to a Disney Dream!

Cool, you are at Castaway Cay. I love the shot you finally got of the Mine Mine bird. I think on Easter I took over 100 pictures but only had about 5 keepers. Did you get a shot of the ship from Pirates of the Caribbean? I assume that will be a future entry.

here too! Record heat....97 or 98...heat index was 103. BUT I'll take it over snow ANY day :thumbsup2

I think it'll be nutz there for a few years actually. I knew this year would still be busy...esp w/ release of next movie in July. It's done well...too well! It's pretty small...just like in the movies  And, to be honest, I wouldn't go without staying onsite... even if for 1 night to get 2 days of Express Pass....could not be more worth it! :thumbsup2

Reading your report is makin me want another Disney cruise too....but, don't know that THAT is happenin anytime in the near future. We'll see how this year goes....

We have had heat like that too. We'll have 1 day in the 70's, the 4 in the 90's. I think tomorrow is supposed to be 70's again, but I'll beleive it when I see it. Last time they said that it was 86 with high humidity.
I do want to stay onsite at Universal. The resorts look so pretty and I would like the express pass as well.

I really enjoyed the Disney cruise. I have saild NCL twice and enjoyed those as well, but something about Disne ywas just better. I liked eating a a different restaurant every night, and the free soft drinks, the beds were so comfy, I really liked the split bathroom too. It was great for families. I know it's not for everyone, but it worked well for us. Claire still got her character fill/needs, and yet I enjoyed a lot of the things I did too. I just need to go longer so I can have a chance to try out the clubs too.

Love your pics!! Can't wait to see and hear more about CC. So excited to visit there in Feb.:cool1:

I have half of the next update done. I hope to get it up tomorrow if all goes well.

Sadly, the Flying Dutchman is no longer there. It was starting to fall apart so they dismantled it last Dec. I was so sad to miss it by just a few months. That had always been one of the draws of CC to me. Rumor is that they may bring another ship from one of the new movies in the future...with the biggest rumor being the Black Pearl. But the way this last movie ended, I think the Black Pearl will be in the next movie for sure. Maybe they'll put the Queen Annes revenge . I'm not sure if they left it open for that ship to be in future movies or not.

TOTALLY GET IT! :thumbsup2

Loved the gull picture. The sharpness of those pictures that you took with your slr was so amazing. Very impressive.:thumbsup2

I would love going to a private island, our cruises didn't have that, so I did nothing but shop. Had a little beach time but not enough.

What cruiseline are you sailing this summer?

thanks.
This was the first private island I had been to as well. From what I have heard, Disney's is better than others.

We stopped for a few in front of the ship too.

As we made our way to the Post office, we found our first character on the Island.

We then made our way towards the beach and I snapped pictures again along the way.

I LOVE that the ship docks RIGHT there! CC is so beautiful and serene.... One thing that will always leave a sour taste w/ me was when we did our cruise and we did the 4 night double dip. The first stop there we had 'stuff' to do and things to see...figured we'd buy postcards on the ship and mail them from CC our second stop back. Well, the weather was a bit uncooperative and we docked a little late and when we went ashore (to mail our postcards), the post office was closed! Because of a little rain?...that had cleared up? WTH? I was ticked. So, we went back onboard to GS and they told me they'd take them (with postage $) and mail them from CC next time they went back. Don'tcha know, we NEVER got them? Nobody we sent any to got them.  So, we were out the postcards, thots to family/friends AND the $ to mail them (there were like 10 of them). NEVER again and my advice is to be ready the first day.

This year back to Royal Caribbean...Freedom of the Seas. Fresh out of March drydock :woohoo:

Loving the report. Your pictures are just great. That sea gull shot was amazing! They are hard critters to catch.

Loving your trip report...can you keep it going until my cruise in Dec 2012

I wish I could...actually I wish I could go on anothr and do another TR for you! LOL!

I have heard that about the Post office too. I had thought of sending some post cards from there, but I recently heard too many reports that its closed the majority of the time, or that what they send never makes it...or takes several months to arrive. I honestly never paid attention if the Post office was open while we were there.

RCCL looks so nice. I have many goo reports about it. Do you go on Cruise Critic.com They have great reviews of each cruise line and you can ask questions, etc.

Thanks. He was a hard one to get. It was so funny how they started awarming around the ship as we pulled in. I'm sure they knew their next meal would be arrive shortly...with dropped or stolen food! :lmao:

I'm subbin! Love your report. It's getting me soooo excited for our cruise in September! Your pics are awesome. Thanks and keep it coming!!!!!

:cheer2:

several months...one thing... We cruised in '08. If that stupid postcard shows up over 3 yrs later....I'll...I'll...well, I don't know what I'll do...but c'mon! :rotfl:

And yes...on Cruise Critic and we are ready!! Everything is done ('cept buying water and beach towels before we go...but, buying those at Dad's in Fl prior to cruise) and we are reserved, planned, bought & all but ready to go.

Love all the pictures! Looks like it was worth the walk to get all the good photos. Claire's Minnie Mouse cover is really cute! I wanted the cover, suit, and towel set for my DD this year, but they don't have her size in ANY of that stuff anymore. :sad2: So disappointing! I wish clothing makers would realize that not all kids outgrow that kind of stuff in kindergarten! :headache: Can't wait to see your beach pictures! I know they are going to be beautiful! :cloud9:

Loving all the photos! I really cannot wait to sit down and actually plan my next Disney vacation. 80% sure we are gonna fit the cruise in! My friend is taking her daughter next year, and we are thinking of doing the parks at the same time as them with the cruise thrown in. These photos are just making me antsy for it lol. Also not so patiently waiting for the 2012 rates to come out so I can plan my princess half marathon weekend!

Hello there! I'm a newbie here. :) I am wanting to plan my family's cruise when the new 2013 dates come out so I've been trying to read up and see what to expect. After reading all of this I have a couple of questions, mostly around photos. I hope you don't mind. No one in my family has ever cruised before so I'm not sure on a lot of things.

Does the ship have a photopass thing like the parks do? If so, does it also apply to those photos that are taken out on Castaway Cay? And how does it work? Do you get a card to keep track of them on? Also, how much is it, if you don't mind me asking.

Thanks!!

popcorn:: Just found your TR! Loving it soo far! I'm sure this will help me pass some time until my next cruise on the Dream...in FEBRUARY :scared1: Not sure how I'm going to get through the next 7 1/2 months!

Sad Day! :sad1: I didn't realize the Flying Dutchman was gone... Since the Black Pearl was not used in the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film, they actually just redesigned parts of it and used it as the Queen Anne's Revenge. Maybe once the film series is done they will put the Black Pearl there. That would be awesome for sure and something I would definitely need to check out!!!

By the way, love the new pics!

I say go for the cruise. It was so fun.

Welcome, and thanks for reading.
The ships photographers/photos are very different than photopass. They have face recognition and also sometimes scan you room card. They put all the prints in a folder designated for your room. They also appear in the picture veiwing kiosk. The photos are expensive, but if you by the CD,the prints are then 50% off. The CD's are very expensive as well, and do not have borders. You have to order and recieve it before the last night. The price depends on the length of the cruise....with the 3 night being 200.
And yes the pictures they take on CC are included.

Thanks so much for reading! You will LOVE it. Just start practicing walking up and down stairs now. your body will thank you if you can hamdle it before hand. LOL!

I didn't know that about the Black Pearl. I'm pretty sure the next movie is going to be about ressurecting the Black Pearl, so I bet it will be used then. They must be done with Queen Annes Revenge.

Claire is entering the last stage of clothes there. I wish they had cute adult stuff too. Not just t-shirts.
