I'd Walk a Mile for a Cupcake- an SSR Quickie! 4/4-4/7/11 FINISHED!! 6/29

that darn castle show.....The tears.....

I KNOW!!! CRAZEEEEE Crying!!!

My sandals are the BEST!!!! Joan was wearing them, too- we had no blisters in Disney this year. They are Sketchers Tone-ups. Just remember to break them in before you go!:thumbsup2

I've seen those too and curious about how well they'd be for WDW. What's the difference in the Tone Ups & the Fit Flops? I've seen those too.

I think they are very similar- Fit flops came out first, I believe, and Tone-ups are made by Sketchers- after they came out with Shape-ups. Whatever they are called- they are very supportive and don't give me blisters at Disney- LOVE them!!

I was on the walk-way above the Rose Garden, and I couldn't make out anyone's faces. I was sort of excited when the show started, because I thought I had a good chance to recognize someone from our hometown. Our h.s. band marched that evening. There were 102 in the band, add parents, siblings, grandparents etc., and I'm betting there were at least 1000 people there from my town. I really thought I could recognize someone, but it was unrecognizable. Maybe it is my eye site.:rotfl:

That's so exciting!! Out HS Band goes every 4 years- what a great trip! I thought you meant the collage faces, like Walt's- I agree, it was hard to make out the faces from the rose garden- we had better luck the second time from the bridge- but that view was sideways. Ideally I guess you should be as close as possible, dead center!

Welcome back, I have finally returned to finish up- sorry, but life has been super-duper insane here lately with PTA, Baseball, IEP Meetings, a bereft cousin, and an aunt with Alzheimer's....:sad2: But on witrh the happiest spring break on earth!!:thumbsup2

Soo.... we were headed in the direction of Splash....and I was NOT feeling it. At ALL. I was cold, and I was tired, and I was perfectly happy to just sit on a bench and wait for a parade to come by....but the boys would have NONE of it! I was actually SO surprised- they were really very disappointed that I wasn't going to ride with them.

Awww...they love me...they really, truly love me!

They BEGGED me to ride with them- when I said I was already freezing and didn't want to get colder by getting wet, Tyler offered me his jacket.

How gentlemanly of him- I was so impressed.

And Timmy pleaded, and said he loved me so much, it wouldn't be as much fun without me.

So I said OK....even though in my fugue type state, I was not in the mood for any thrill rides-

Anyway, on we rode, and after the first drop, I took a pic of my happy, loving boys-

IMG_1311.jpg

And after the BIG drop? Well, I was freaked out!! I screamed my ever-lovin head off- and I am not really a screamer, I'm more of a WOO-HOO-ER, if ya know what I mean. Except when I'm exhausted I guess. Here's the proof of my terror!

IMG_1314.jpg

:rotfl2: What a LOSER!!! :rotfl2:

IMG_1312.jpg

We hopped on BTMRR, and managed to sit in the front-

IMG_1315.jpg

Even in my mental state, I could handle that one ok. But when they wanted to ride Splash again, I politely declined- and they let me off the hook to go and watch DEP-

IMG_1316.jpg

IMG_1317.jpg

WHat a fun parade that is, and so nice to have a break from Spectromagic! I went back up to Splash to meet them, and saw this-

IMG_1321.jpg

And realized OOPS! I meant to ride that train this time so i could be nosey and see what was going on in Fantasyland! We headed over to HM, I was very interested to see the new queue- but somehow, we missed it. :confused3 I guess because the ride was a walk on? Anyway, I was pretty surprised I could get this with my little P&S camera-

IMG_1322.jpg

And next I asked the boys if we could go on Snow White, because it was closing soon, for good. I thought they would say, No thanks, and head to SM instead, but guess what?

They LOVE me...they really, truly LOVE me!

So they said Sure Mom! No problem!!

Cont'd next post-

We all piled into the same car, and thank GOD it was not as tight as BTMRR was or as tight as a certain ride with some DISpals was last year.

IMG_1325.jpg

IMG_1326.jpg

IMG_1327.jpg

IMG_1328.jpg

IMG_1335.jpg

I know people are sad it's going, but I have to say- by today's standards it's looking a little cheesy, and I think the new coaster ride will be MUCH more fun- plus, Walt wanted his park to always evolve, right? So, I say, ON WITH EVOLUTION, WDW!! Show us what ya got!! :thumbsup2

We headed for one last ride on SM-

IMG_1336.jpg

And I called it quits, with no arguments from anyone-

IMG_1337.jpg

It was 12:45, and the park was closing in 15 minutes anyway....

IMG_1338.jpg

I have to say, I was so, SO deliriously happy we had come on this trip. My boys were being kids, they were truly 100% happy to be hangin out together and with their Mom in the happiest place on earth-

IMG_1339.jpg

I felt so lucky, and so blessed.

IMG_1341.jpg

We once again had AWESOME Transport mojo, and hopped on the SSR bus that was waiting for us....home at last, we hit our pillows like a ton of bricks, oh MAN did that bed feel good! :cloud9:

Up next- pack it up, pack it in!

Your picture on Splash Mountain-you aren't a looser.
Your kids are going to show their grandkids that picture-and they are going to tell them what a blast their mom was, when they were growing up.

I was proud of leaving the MK at midnight-but you guys did better with 12:45!! It was my first time ever being in a park that late. I am usually the early bird.

Another great scary ride face photo from Ellen!

I LOVE being at MK at night. A few years ago, Mike and I hired Kids Nite Out to watch the kids for us at French Quarter (excellent service, the lady they sent to us totally rocked, she came armed with toys, games, movies and the kids loved her). It was our anniversary and we decided to celebrate by going to the extra magic night hours at MK by ourselves and it was AWESOME! He and I ran around the place like a couple of kids, riding all the rides our kids were too young to ride and generally having a blast.

Highly recommended to the grown-ups out there. Yeah, we could have done the fancy dinner thing instead, but we can do that at home!

Aww, so nice to see you having so much fun with your boys! :rotfl2: about your Splash pic! My face looks like that on every pic - it was a big story the time that mom kept her eyes open!:thumbsup2

what an awesome awesome awesome update. How much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Makes me want to go on a trip with my boys too.

You guys had a great night at the MK! I have never done Splash at night, must be kind of cool, I bet it is better in the really hot summer when it is still hot at midnight, though. We just came back on the 22nd from our stay at SSR and I understand why you requested The Springs, We were in Congress Park and that is the next closest one and it was still a hike! So glad we didn't get the Paddock or Carousel.

Heading to your new TR now!

UGH. It was our last morning. How does it always arrive so quickly??? Well, I guess when you are there on a quickie trip, you have no choice but for it to come quickly! :rotfl: But no complaints- we were all happy with all we had done on our little getaway. I packed up our things, made the last breakfast sandwich & poptarts for the boys, and slipped out the door to fill my coffee mug and indulge in one of these-

IMG_1342.jpg

It was a good indulgence, I have to say- especially since I was enjoying it on the balcony with my coffee and the chirping birds. :goodvibes Our boarding passes had been delivered to us in the room- well, all but Timmy's. He had been randomly selected to have to check in at the airport (because all 95 lbs of him is such a scary thought to the airlines. I guess. ). Hey, I'm all into security and random checks, but when they randomly choose the youngest member of my family....well, I guess that just means it's truly random.

Our BIG decision this morning was WHICH PARK???? I left it up to the boys- it could only be ONE park, after all. They quickly chose AK, the natural choice since we had not been this trip. But when I pointed out that they would not have a visit to the Caramel shop or be able to get a cupcake from Starring Rolls- BOTH of these was a BIG priority for them. BIG. Even bigger than any ride or attraction might be.

Aaahhhhh....my little foodies. :lovestruc

So here's what we came up with as a solution- a day in Epcot, and I would make a solo trip over to DHS and Starring Rolls with my AP while they behaved themselves on their own for an hour in EPCOT.

DEAL.

Bell services came and picked up our OL and all of our stuff to store for the day, then it was to the bus!

IMG_1343.jpg

IMG_1344.jpg

2 minutes in, the first bus to pull up says EPCOT on the front- proving we made the right decision for our day, and that we REALLY had some AWESOME transpo mojo on this trip!!

Our first stop in EPCOT was MS-

IMG_1345.jpg

IMG_1346.jpg

It's GO TIME!

IMG_1347.jpg

Mandlebaum....Mandlebaum....

Salute the commander!

IMG_1348.jpg

Such a funny ride when you have done it so many times.

IMG_1349.jpg

Next, we headed to TT, and the single rider line....All the single riders...all the single riders....

IMG_1350.jpg

IMG_1351.jpg

Yea....they're mine- great big GOOF balls, just like Mom. :rotfl:

So as we are standing in the single rider line, Timmy says, "Hey! I know that kid! He was on my baseball team last year!" Apparently this boy and his family & another family from our town were in the Stand-by line (I recognized them, but don't really know them). Timmy tried to get his attention, but they were too far away. So we waited in the single rider line, to be singly placed in a random car with random people.....

Guess who we got! How crazy is that?? Timmy gets put in RIGHT NEXT TO the kid from his team, I am put right behind him next to a Dad from our town.

SO WEIRD!!!!!!!

IMG_1352.jpg

What a funny coincidence! Tyler was right behind us, with people from random towns...-

IMG_1355.jpg

We had FPs for a later ride on TT, and the boys wanted to go back to MS-

IMG_1357.jpg

IMG_1359.jpg

Next, we strolled through the fairy garden....

IMG_1360.jpg

Not quite sure how that thing worked....or IF it worked....

IMG_1361.jpg

IMG_1362.jpg

IMG_1363.jpg

IMG_1364.jpg

IMG_1365.jpg

We were on our way...to find the elusive Shoolbread in Norway...up next!

Timmy's baseball friend and family do NOT look like they are having all that much fun! Maybe its just the picture.

Darn quickie trips don't last long enough. I have 5 nights in December, but I don't think Nick is going to be able to miss that many days of school and I hate to cut it to 4. Decisions, decisions. :confused3

Tyler is really getting mature looking. Great pictures of the boys. It looks like they are still having a blast.

What's up with the random search?

Your picture on Splash Mountain-you aren't a looser.
Your kids are going to show their grandkids that picture-and they are going to tell them what a blast their mom was, when they were growing up.

You are so sweet- I want you to know that this comment made me cry. I hope they do feel that way one day. :goodvibes

I was proud of leaving the MK at midnight-but you guys did better with 12:45!! It was my first time ever being in a park that late. I am usually the early bird.

Well, this was my latest- we have made 12 in the past, at MNSSHP, but usually when we come as a family the parks are not open all that late because it is low season.

That's great!! You are two BIG kids!!! :thumbsup2We hired that service a loooooong time ago, when tyler (who turns 14 today!!) was 5 months and Sean was 3- but Pods & I went to Pleasure Island instead!

Aww, so nice to see you having so much fun with your boys! :rotfl2: about your Splash pic! My face looks like that on every pic - it was a big story the time that mom kept her eyes open!:thumbsup2

:rotfl2:That's so funny!! My eyes were closed because i was screaming SO LOUD!!!!

what an awesome awesome awesome update. How much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Makes me want to go on a trip with my boys too.

It was the best- we had such a great time- I hope we can do it again someday!

It IS cool at night- as long as you're not a mental patient like I was- then it's just terrifying!!

Yea- SOOO glad you didn't get Carousel or Paddocks either!! TOOFAR without a car-

Timmy's baseball friend and family do NOT look like they are having all that much fun! Maybe its just the picture.

:laughing:I thought the same thing- they look so bored. The guy next to me looks a little freaked out even. :rotfl:

Darn quickie trips don't last long enough. I have 5 nights in December, but I don't think Nick is going to be able to miss that many days of school and I hate to cut it to 4. Decisions, decisions. :confused3

Can he fly down later?

Tyler is really getting mature looking. Great pictures of the boys. It looks like they are still having a blast.

Yea- he really grew alot this year- 14 today!!

What's up with the random search?

Not search- random check-in. They said it happens with the WDW check-in process.

Superb update as always, I am sorry things are coming to an end

Thank-you- I'm sorry, too, but the new TR will be a TON of fun!! :dance3:

We turned the corner at Norway, and....no line!! We were finally going to try some schoolbread! We were also going to eat lunch- here is what they had to choose from at Kringla Og-

IMG_1366.jpg

IMG_1367.jpg

IMG_1368.jpg

IMG_1369.jpg

Looks like they were running out of these-

IMG_1370.jpg

IMG_1371.jpg

IMG_1372.jpg

IMG_1373.jpg

We made our choices and sat outside....and shared a couple of these-

IMG_1376.jpg

which were pretty good and of course-

IMG_1374.jpg

and Timmy had-

IMG_1375.jpg

I cut into the Schoolread to share with Ty-

IMG_1377.jpg

It was so moist and it oozed custard, we both LOVED it!! Tyler says yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....

IMG_1378.jpg

Timmy says yummmmmmmmmmmmm....

IMG_1379.jpg

I have to say, not that I want to spoil my DISmom TR, but the schoolbread i got on my following trip was the pits- dry, dry, dry and totally lacking the custard- there was barely a drop inside. :sad2: But this first experience was a good one, and because of it, I will always go back in search of it again....

IMG_1381.jpg

IMG_1383.jpg

We continued on around the world....

IMG_1384.jpg

And stopped to listen-

IMG_1385.jpg

IMG_1386.jpg

IMG_1387.jpg

And I looked at my watch and realized...it was time to go in search of a cupcake. Because we were sadly running out of time before our DME...

So I left the boys at Karamel Kuche, told them to behave and be kind and smart about their surroundings, and to stay together!! Then I headed out the International Gateway in my cupcake quest.

Up next- I'd walk a mile for a cupcake!!

What is that thing Tyler is sitting on with the big blue dish?

It was some kind of a sound oddity thing- there were two of them across from each other- I think you sat in them and were supposed to hear the one across from you like it was right there with you. :confused3 I don't think we did it correctly-:upsidedow

You walked to HS for a cupcake? No, you didn't?????

Isn't it great when you can leave your kids alone in a park. Love that!

Yes, re: the December trip - Denny and Nick might have to fly down a day later. This whole December trip is not quite working out as I planned. The flight prices are ridiculous and they times are wonky. They don't work with an after school departure. I have SWA credit I need to use up, but the US Air prices are better.

I think I am going to call MS tomorrow and see if I can switch the dates a bit. I know I'll end up waitlisting. Right now I am at Jambo House for the first night (that was to be my alone night) and VWL for the next 4. Denny really wants to stay VWL, so we'll see what happens.

Enough of my woes!

Looking forward to seeing this cupcake! The pastries in Norway looked sooooooo good.

Looks like you are having a great last day. That TT single rider line is a great way to get on that ride quick. I had a question about that School Bread. Is the custard like a boston creme, and is the "bread" part more towards a donut/cake or more like bread?

I had been wondering where your TR title would come in.
