This one I used as a calendar - each is a separate piece and I rotated them around every morning to reflect what day it was.

I LOVE this! What a great idea. It looks so cool :thumbsup2

these are all amazing and really have me inspired!!!

one question... and forgive me if it's dumb, i'm just not very crafty.

someone posted a link to this "4shared" website... I found this patriotic Mickey ears I liked... perfect since we'll be sailing the Med over July 4th...

But what do I do with it exactly? How do I get it from this file to on my door?

(Just download, tweak in photo shop, print and put magnets on it?)

Thanks!

Click on it to enlarge it. Then right-click on it to save it to your computer. Then print onto magnetic paper. Some people print on regular paper or card stock and then laminate, then glue magnets on the back.
I find it quick & easy to just print to magnetic paper, jmho. :goodvibes

Would you be willing to share the template for one of the calendar sections? I really like this idea!

These are all amazing! In fact I've been so inspired that all week I've been creating our own designs for our door!

My big question is - where do you find the magnetic paper to print on at the best price?

Now that I have all the files ready I'm ready to print, but don't want to spend a fortune! Any great suggestions?
Thanks! And thanks for all of your inspiration everyone!!!

if your stuff is not personalized (i.e. name or room number), does it get stolen by random passers by?

:confused3

Sorry, I don't remember where I saw this, but someone had a great idea... On the back of each magnet, especially the unpersonalized ones, write with a sharpie "Stolen from room #___".
Great idea! Too bad we even have to think of that kind of stuff.

I'm sure it does.... but we didn't have any problems on our cruise..... I did catch the tweens from across the hall checking it out from time to time.... and things were crooked sometimes when we'd come back..... I think people were just curious, after all, there were maybe only 20-25 decorated doors on our cruise!!!! So others found them intriguing.....

Metal Doors - magnet sheets from Walmart

Most people Did have something small on their doors but these examples are the fun!

Disney On A Dime! WHERE DID YOU GET STITCH!!!!
what can I say.....I'm a stitch addict....need more stitchy things....no mum you can't get too many stitch pins...I know I'm 27...I don't care...I want stitch...

Can I ask where you got your Pirate's of the Caribbean name fills? I have been trying to find some like that. Thanks much!

I actually don't have a template - I sort of winged it. I had the dimensions of the stateroom number and the stateroom door, but since math is not my area of expertise, I just looked around the house until I found a really big circle. I ended up using a garbage can cover. I traced it, put the smaller circle inside and then used a ruler to draw lines to divide the circle into mostly-equal parts. That part took some trial and error. Then I cut them out, laminated the wedges, and then stuck the decorations on that. It was a little time consuming, but I think it was worth it. :)

Also, I used magnets I cut off a roll, which have a sticky side to attach. I found that the peephole on the door made the piece over it not stick well, so I had to improvise with other magnets to make it stay in place. Just an FYI.

Does anyone make the magnets to sell? My computer at home has recently crashed, so I was just waiting to get another after we return from our cruise. So I'm not looking to print them myself.

Grumplittlesis - could you share the door and room number dimensions? I would love to do something like this when we get to go!

I found these in other posts, and they were very helpful.

Door Demensions - 27" wide, 6 1/2' high, 3" deep

All measurements are inches.
The door is 28.75 x 77.75.
13.5 down from the top is a circular door marker that you ought to make allowances for...it has a 7.5 diameter.
The door assembly (handle) is 35.25 down from the top and is 9.5 tall. It extends from the edge 4.5.

Our door from the May 19, 2011 Cruise with the premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean 4. Thanks to all DISigners for your help and incredible talent.

BTW: Our On Stranger Tides, May 19, 2011 magnet was stolen. So, unfortunately, it does happen. :(

Thanks!!! It was our first try (first cruise) and hubby thought it was too much until I showed him some of the other doors on here. :) These boards are wonderful for planning trips. There was a door just a few down from ours that had some of the same designs!!!
