How Do You Think We Stay So Happy?*Final Thoughts & Farewells* 10/7 p100

I liked the food at the La Hacienda CS, but then again, I've been told that if I just say something is "good", that means it probably sucks. To put this in further perspective, I probably would've bought those mini fish in a bag had I seen them. Next year, next year.

Loved the Illuminations pics!

But luckily, it was late EMH so there was no rush to leave the park. Melissa and I set off to walk around the world showcase. We chatted, people watched, and stopped in some of the F&G booths.

Strolling through World Showcase while the masses rush to the buses is so nice. :thumbsup2

By the time we reached the International Gateway we admitted defeat. We were both tired and I remember feeling a tad jealous that Melissa was going out her private entrance while I had to trek it to the front of the park for a ride to POR.

It can be a little overwhelming to see 'the ball' so very far away at the end of an evening. You know you just have to put one foot in front of the other and you will eventually get there, but man, when your legs are tired, it can make you look like  to see it all lit up waaaay up there in front! :upsidedow

Hi Ladies!

Loving your report so far....love the different narratives and perspectives, and of course, all of the awesome photos! :) I have a hunch we are all in for a treat with this one!;)

Looking forward to more!:goodvibes

MEK, love you favorite pic! Genious!
Did I catch that you would like a trip like our June trip for next year? So why don't you just come at that same time and we can to the group thing? We are planning to rebook the cruise, just for one more person....:rolleyes1

I love this picture too!!! How fun!

I guess when you take as many pictures as I do, you are bound to have one really good night shot!

Oh no, I would have been SO annoyed too about the medication mix-up!! But at least you were able to have a 'rita later in the trip!

Thank GOODNESS I was able to have a rita later in the trip because I felt so DUMB for mixing up my meds. Here I was trying to be proactive and I made a dumb mistake.

Sounds like it was a wonderful Disney evening :goodvibes

It was such a wonderful way to start the trip. A perfect evening.

Great Illuminations pictures! You have some great ones!

Thank you! As you will see, I tend to get a little overzealous with the picture taking. I always say I'm not going to take a lot of pix and then I can't stop.

Am glad it's Friday for you MEK! Enjoy your weekend!!

I have been having a very enjoyable weekend so far! Thanks!

:woohoo: on all your DIS meets - how great! Am hoping for a couple of first DIS meets on our trip and can't wait!

DIS meets are so fun. It really is fun to meet someone in person that you talk to all the time on the boards.

A
Eek at the mexico food - doesn't sound good.

It really wasn't that great. Not horrible - just not yummy!

A

I'm sorry to hear you couldn't have a drink whilst watching Illuminations but there will be plenty of other opportunities, right?

Well, if I had had said drink I would have needed to put my camera down, so I guess it worked out just as well. :rotfl:

And, yes, there were plenty of other opportunities.

Love the Illumination pics and your favourite is an awesome shot! Also great pics of Japan and France!!

Thank you! :)

Love that Illuminations shot!

Thanks! That one is definitely going in the book! :thumbsup2

I swear, your two reports of the food sounds like it hasn't improved at all after the remodel. Jeff, Evan and Taylor gave it the same "not good" verdict back in 09. I admit to never having eaten there but was hopeful as the location is so pretty!

It really is a pretty location and, for that alone, I will probably try it again in the future. I will just try something else.

I'd hoped to make it into more of the shops this trip but I've still never even been IN the one in Japan. Pathetic I know. So thanks for the pictures, I always enjoy seeing them.

Really? You have never been in the Japan store? I think that's one of my favorites because it just goes on and on forever. And there is some crazy stuff in there. I especially like the sake wall and some day I am going to do a sake tasting.

You must go in there next time!

Let's see 11:30 Disney time. I was not quite at the airport but was on, or about to get on, my way. About then I think we'd just settled our dinner bill and were on our way to the car.

It was funny because before I went to sleep I kept trying to figure out exactly where you were in your journey, but I must have been brain dead cause I just couldn't figure out the whole time change thing for flying west to east.

.[/QUOTE]

Yay, your DIS meet sounded like fun!! :woohoo: I have to admit, I have yet to do a DIS meet and I'm a little nervous about it, if the time ever comes, it seems like I'm never there when anyone else that I "know" is! And IF I ever do get the chance to do one, I'd rather be alone and not with my DH...I have a feeling he might think meeting people from the internet was weird...:rolleyes1 :rotfl:

It was so great to meet Melissa in person! She was every bit as sweet as I thought she would be. I was VERY nervous for my first DIS meet, but you get over that. I know Ellen used to joke that we are all crazy internet people, but I think a lot of us have gotten beyond that. It used to feel taboo, but now it feels natural.

LOVE the Illuminations pics!!! Thanks to you, Norway is my new favorite Illuminations viewing spot! :cool1: The Japan pics are beautiful too, I love that store!

Thank you and I'm glad you like the Norway spot. It's just very convenient because you can walk up there at the last minute and get a very nice view.

The Japan store is so fun, isn't it?

Ever since I stayed at the BC, I've been jealous of anyone who gets to use the International Gateway to go back to their resort! WHY am I not staying at BC on my next trip???

I have been asking myself that same question (in regards to my December trip) ever since I stared this TR.

Mary Ellen, I love your Illumination pictures. Your favorite one in my favorite one too.

Thank you! I love that pix and feel so lucky that I got (considering I have only take about 100o mediocre Illuminations pix during all my other trips )

All I can say is WOW!!!! What an awesome picture, MaryEllen. The others are great too, but this one in particular is just a WOW.

Thanks Kathy! I love that pix! I might try to frame it because I'll never be able to replicate it!

Great update; can't wait for the next update and meeting up with more DISer's.

I can't wait for more DIS meets either! :rotfl:

AWESOME pictures ME!! :worship: LOVE the picture that is your favorite!! So cool!! :thumbsup2
Very appropriate place for you to meet Melissa but bummer that the ever eluding La Cava and margarita was not to be  Although we more than made up for it the rest of the week
Love the store in Japan too. So much to see every time you walk through. One of these days I will do the pearl. I keep saying I am and then never do! My brother and niece have eating some shrimp chips that they sell there. They actually sell them in Wegmans here. I think they do it for the shock value because in no way could they taste good!! :sad2: LOVE that walk back to BCV. Absolutely priceless!! ::yes::

Thanks Tracy!

Melissa and I had originally talked about meeting at the Slushy stand but I was so set on getting that first rita that we changed our plans weeks before the trip. After all that planning - no rita. And that's exactly how I felt, like La Cava kept eluding me.

You really should do the pearl. My pearl is a great memory of my trip with Jen. I wear it on a necklace with a bunch of other beads and a mickey charm. It was a fun experience.

And you're right - no one could possibly like those dried up fish bait things. Bleech. Yuck.

Had a customer today that was a former CM....she is now 52 and she worked for Disney for 24 years. Started out working at the Emporium when she was 16. Moved on to other positions in marketing when Epcot opened and then finance. She said when she first started there was just the Contemporary, Poly and a golf resort (she worked there too) and they all said "who will ever be staying here to fill up all of these rooms?" :rotfl2: She was originally from up here and her Mom wanted to move back to the area several years ago so she came back. She got it all backwards....she should be moving FROM here TO there!! ;)

Tracy

So, tell me, how did you get on the Disney topic? Do you have Disney stuff set up all over your desk?

You're right - she is definitely going in the wrong direction. I think it would be hard to move up here after experiencing Florida weather for so long. I look forward to retiring and working at Disney. It's still part of the plan for me! (not so sure about Denny, though :rolleyes1)

PAGE 15! I just found this TR this morning and I'm all caught up. MEK, great pictures. :goodvibes

Kathy

:welcome: Kathy! Thank for joining in! So glad you found our TR.

Did you happen to notice our tickers? It looks like you and I will be at the world at the same time in December. I am actually staying my first night at AKL!

I liked the food at the La Hacienda CS, but then again, I've been told that if I just say something is "good", that means it probably sucks. To put this in further perspective, I probably would've bought those mini fish in a bag had I seen them. Next year, next year.
!

:rotfl: If you had bought those fish and actually eaten them, I would have to see photographic evidence. They seriously looked DISGUSTING. As far as La Hacienda, I will give it a second chance. This time WITH a Rita!

Loved the Illuminations pics!

Thanks!

Strolling through World Showcase while the masses rush to the buses is so nice. :thumbsup2

You are so right about that! I loved going in the opposite direction of those exiting from Illuminations. It was perfect! :thumbsup2

It can be a little overwhelming to see 'the ball' so very far away at the end of an evening. You know you just have to put one foot in front of the other and you will eventually get there, but man, when your legs are tired, it can make you look like  to see it all lit up waaaay up there in front! :upsidedow

You're not kidding! :rotfl: And now that I have actually stayed at the BCV its gonna make it even harder the next time I have to walk all the way to the front of the park! I may need to be carried!

Hi Ladies!

Loving your report so far....love the different narratives and perspectives, and of course, all of the awesome photos! :) I have a hunch we are all in for a treat with this one!;)

Looking forward to more!:goodvibes

:welcome: Chris! Thanks for joining in!!!!! There is definitely much, much more in the pipeline. I am looking forward to hearing from all the other ladies!

MEK, love you favorite pic! Genious!

Wigd - I wish I was that genius, but it was seriously just dumb luck!

Did I catch that you would like a trip like our June trip for next year? So why don't you just come at that same time and we can to the group thing? We are planning to rebook the cruise, just for one more person....:rolleyes1

Why yes you did! I was just telling Denny how super fabulous your trip sounded and how I would really like to do a trip like that.

We are now seriously looking at next June. Possibly a treehouse with LJ's parents and siblings. Then I was thinking Vero. The cruise sounds fabulous, but here's the thing - You guys are done school like right now or very soon. Nick won't finish school until at least June 7th. That's so late. But perhaps some part of our trips can overlap. That would be so fun!

You must go in there next time!

I know! I meant to this trip, really hit ALL the shops but... oh well. I at least spent some time in a couple of new ones so slowly I will get to all of them. I did add 4 new ones this trip so all things considered, not so bad.

It was funny because before I went to sleep I kept trying to figure out exactly where you were in your journey, but I must have been brain dead cause I just couldn't figure out the whole time change thing for flying west to east.

That is so funny! I was trying to figure out where the heck Jen was at, as it seemed like she'd been traveling all day! I'll tell you all about what I was doing while you were sleeping, very soon, maybe even today!

You're right Mary Ellen -- that "favorite" Illuminations picture is great!

TOTALLY AGREE!! Beautiful pictures of my favorite fireworks display. :goodvibes

I know! I meant to this trip, really hit ALL the shops but... oh well. I at least spent some time in a couple of new ones so slowly I will get to all of them. I did add 4 new ones this trip so all things considered, not so bad.

!

Um...Cynthia...am I to understand you've never hit the Japan store? Its AMAZING! Oh, well...there's always the next trip, right? :rotfl:

MEK I really loved the Illumination photos. That one looked so electric with all of th esparks so cool! :cool1:

I was supposed to go with a group of 12 last night all dressed in pirate garb to POTHC4 but DH pooped my party! He wanted to stay home. It was in Tavern Theater, you drink & dine while watching a movie.

All caught up! Loving everything so far! As always, Mary Ellen - stunning pictures! I thought I was convinced on CBR for my next Mod stay, but man...POR is amazing! The more I read and see pictures of that resort, the more I want to stay there. Those mansions are breathtaking, and such a unique hotel style.

The Beach Club really isn't all that great. Stormalong Bay is overrated. And Beaches 'n Cream- you can get a burger anywhere. And walk to EPCOT? Who wants to walk on vacation? There are plenty of better places to stay!!!

:rotfl2: Love this!!!

Once again, Mary Ellen, you are WOWing me with the pictures! I LOVE Illuminations, so I was humming the music as I scrolled through your pics. I really like the one of "the ball" too along with your fave.

Bummer about the meds mix up! It must be horrible to want one of those fabulous drinks and not be able to have one!

I have to tell you it felt like I had been traveling all day!!!! I was so ready to be in bed! Between the two flights and then my car not being ready...it was just a mess!!! LOL but I was at Disney and that's all that mattered lol!!!

I used to really like CS in Mexico! BOO, but maybe the other items are better? Tacos are always hit or miss anywhere in my book, but I agree they go down better with a margarita. Heck, anything goes down better with a margarita! Those at the Cave bar were GOOD...
LOVING all these photos, and TOTALLY feel your lament about the private entrance!! :rotfl: But can I be a TOTAL Disney dork here? (Um... LIKE I needed to ask that. :lmao:) Lets state the obvious, right?! :lmao: Okay, what I wanted to say, is that even though I LOVE the entrance convenience to BCV, etc., I MISSED the main entrance gate and the music... Yeah, yeah, I know. :sad2: SAD sad sad really SAD, sad, sad case I am...

Looks like your group is all together! LET the fun begin!!!

Blind Squirrels?! :rotfl: Well, that's nicer than what my mum says about fireworks pictures...she thinks they look apocalyptic! Or that the parks are burning to the ground!:scared1: Personally, I think those pictures are amazing Mary Ellen!! Gorgeous! :thumbsup2 I'm sorry you didn't get your drink in though. At least you knew you wouldnt get sick!

TOTALLY AGREE!! Beautiful pictures of my favorite fireworks display. :goodvibes
:

Thank you! So glad you enjoyed them!

Um...Cynthia...am I to understand you've never hit the Japan store? Its AMAZING! Oh, well...there's always the next trip, right? :rotfl:

That's hard to believe, isn't it? If I had known that I would have drug her in there. I could totally see her getting into the pick a pearl.

Hey Brook - so glad you got caught up and that you like the pix. I love all the mod resorts, but I think POR will be my pick next time as well. It just has a ton of detail and it screams relaxation. What's not to love?

The first time I stayed there (which was my first Disney trip) I remember thinking, "and people need to stay somewhere nicer than this???? :confused3"

:rotfl2: Love this!!!

That Christine. Always trying to keep her entrance exclusive.

Once again, Mary Ellen, you are WOWing me with the pictures! I LOVE Illuminations, so I was humming the music as I scrolled through your pics. I really like the one of "the ball" too along with your fave.

I'm so glad you like the pictures. I was doing the same thing with the music as I was uploading them and posting them. I saw Illuminations three nights this trip!

Bummer about the meds mix up! It must be horrible to want one of those fabulous drinks and not be able to have one!

I think what made it so bad was that it was the stupidest mistake and SO easily preventable. So I am just going to have to blame it on the Royal Wedding as my distraction. But I can't assure you, I won't make that mistake a second time.

I have to tell you it felt like I had been traveling all day!!!! I was so ready to be in bed! Between the two flights and then my car not being ready...it was just a mess!!! LOL but I was at Disney and that's all that mattered lol!!!

Changing flights is so time consuming. It's almost like doing a non stop flight twice. I've only flown with stops once in 15 trips and I only did it cause I had a whole travel day there and a whole one home. Nothing else planned. But after working all day - well that's just too much.

wait a minute missy. What plans are thou laying for NEXT summer already??!! I have been silently plotting myself! When when when!? Please say mid-June... :flower3:

That's what I want to know???? You are probably on the same school schedule as I am with the mid June dismissal. Well, actually June 8th this year. It seems that everyone else gets done so early and they are all ready to depart for the world. Works well with the DVC points, but mid June is when I can start traveling as well.

I used to really like CS in Mexico! BOO, but maybe the other items are better? Tacos are always hit or miss anywhere in my book, but I agree they go down better with a margarita. Heck, anything goes down better with a margarita! Those at the Cave bar were GOOD...

You know you can be a total Disney dork here because Cynthia is a member of this group and she is a self proclaimed dork. The princess of all dorks. :rotfl:

Yes - I guess it might get a little old only going in the private entrance, but I would be willing to chance it. I know it's going to be a while until I get to this part - but rope drop from the private entrance was really, really special. I would do that again in a heart beat!

And - YES - everything does MUCH better with a rita! I seriously have been craving one of those ritas ever since we got back.

Looks like your group is all together! LET the fun begin!!!

We are almost all together. Cynthia is going to post her arrival tonight! :cool1:

Blind Squirrels?! :rotfl:

My husband can be such a peach, can't he?

: Well, that's nicer than what my mum says about fireworks pictures...she thinks they look apocalyptic! Or that the parks are burning to the ground!:scared1: Personally, I think those pictures are amazing Mary Ellen!! Gorgeous! :thumbsup2 I'm sorry you didn't get your drink in though. At least you knew you wouldnt get sick!

Oh My - that's a terrible thought - parks burning to the ground. I know that one I edited all red looks a bit apocalyptic. :rotfl:

I am so glad you like the pictures.

And - you're right - there was no way I was going to take a chance on getting sick. I joked with Melissa that she might have to carry back to her BCV room if a drank any alcohol.

SO dumb! :sad2:

sorry your first meal for your trip was less than good. But WOW I LOVE your Illuminations pictures, especially the last one, your favorite one. AMAZING!!!

Looking forward to reading more
