HELP!!!Need to cancel/postpone vacation:(

Please Help!!! My We are scheduled to leave for vacation on Saturday with my parents but my father had a massive heart attack and is in ICU. We have Insurance but I am not sure what i have to do to postpone our vacation. Still not sure of mom and dad will have to cancel all together or not!!!

For your father and mother. I hope he has a speedy recovery.

I would call the insurance and talk with them. You most likely(from what I have read) need something from hospital that your father is there. I think the choice to cancel or postpone will be up to you, mom and dad, and the doctors.

I would call Disney and explain it to them. Many times they will allow you to change your dates with no problems.

This happened to our family back in 1996. My father had a massive heart attack, but he wanted us to still go. Mom said he would have another heart attack if he thought he ruined everyone's vacation on top of everything else the family had been through that year. It was definitely a h double hockey sticks year...4 deaths in the family, I miscarried a baby, a divorce and then my father's massive heart attack.

Anyways, call Disney to see what you need to do to postpone your trip for a later date. Again, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your dad!

This happened to us last year when one of our daughters had to have emergency surgery. First, call Disney and explain the situation; you should be able to get all but your $200/room deposit refunded by Disney and your trip insurance will refund the $200. Call the airline if you are flying and explain that you need to cancel or change your ressies. Call the insurance company and tell them what happened, they will send you some forms to fill out or you can download them and print them out. You'll have to submit the insurance forms along with a copy of your dad's hospital admission form and the last six months of his medical history. It's a lot of trouble but they will pay off. Prayers to your family.

Call Disney and see what they can do for you. Also, call the airline or insurance company in case you have airfare that needs to be refunded.

OP, I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sorry that you will have to cancel under such circumstances. As others have stated, please call Disney and tell them the issue and they will move mountains for you if they have too

You will be happy to know that after a week in ICU and being deprived oxygen for almost 15 min (that what the dr's are saying) my Dad was moved to PCU (Progressive care unit) yesterday and he was actually standing up in the doorway when we arrived. AMAZING!!!! After speaking with my mom and the Dr's they do not think Dad can make a trip this year and they are telling us to go this week and so we are. My children could really use some sunshine and a good distraction. (mee too!!!) So again thank you for all you advise and support!!!

Your children certainly need the sunshine with all the rain we've had this past month. I'm glad that your dad is doing better and enjoy your vacation. Please bring back some sun for NJ!!!

I am so happy you and your family are going to be able to go. Just knowing you are there having a good time will make your dad happy and help him with his recovery. It also gives you an excuse to plan a trip next year when he is completely recovered and him and your mom can go with you!
