I'm thinking I might break up the drive down I-15. Instead of leaving early and getting to Anaheim late, I could save money on a Anaheim hotel too. All I have to have is clean, smoke free rooms, controllable AC and ok for under 21.

I'm wondering about.

In south LV:
South Point
Silverton

In Primm:
Buffalo Bills'
Primm Valley
Whiskey Pete's

Anything in Barstow that is also cheap?

There are a bunch of them off main st in Barstow

I am not a huge fan of the Stateline casinos. We stayed at Buffalo Bill's and it was not very nice. We LOVE the Silverton, and even though we are locals, have stayed there several times. THey have the best buffet EVER!

South Point is nice and the Silverton is good too - I agree, a great buffet!! They both do!

I personally never liked any of the hotels in Primm, however my sister stayed at Primm Valley for 2 nights last year and said it was nice.

Not sure about Barstow, we usually just drive though there :)

If I can suggest, M resort and Red Rock Resort are really nice too :)

I've stopped in Barstow a bunch(for gas and food) it's just that the chains there that I know are good, are around $100. The chains I know that aren't good are of course lower. But I don't know a thing about the independents. Also do these places rattle all night from the SP main line that runs almost parallel to Main Street?

Do you think the super low rates at Buffalo Bill are for the bad rooms?

That M seems to be twice as much as the Silverton and Southpoint which is why I didn't bring it up.

Do you think those breafast buffets if they are nice will have anything kid friendly?

Are there specific foods you are thinking about for "kid friendly"?

My kids LOVE buffets!! They eat it all, try new things, and there are usually always their favourite things!
One of my favourite buffets in Vegas is actually in Henderson! At the Green Valley Ranch Hotel/Casino... they are awesome (breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) :)

My daughter particularly loves South Point. The last time they were there they had awesome pumpkin pie (her fav) and the time before that they had RED VELVET CAKE!! Another of her favs!

I stayed in Silverton with a friend and the room was nice with a nice view of the pool. It is a good hotel in terms of price. It is an off the strip hotel that is around 2 miles from the strip

I'm really thinking buffet for breakfast so we can eat a large but quick breakfast and get on the road.

That's why I'm thinking South Vegas next to the free way, so it's quick onto the 15 with no traffic to worry about until possibly in LA.

By kid frienly I'm thinking "plain". Not egg bakes with a bunch of vegatables like quiche, but more plain scrambled eggs and toast or cold cereal.

I did look at the hours of the buffets and the Southpoint opens at 7:00 am

But while on the subject If I get there before 9pm which is maybe, does the Silverton or Soutpoint have a better dinner buffet?

I haven't yet stayed at either, but we have a couple nights booked at South Point in December.

We do, however, spend a lot of time at South Point. they have some good machines and table games. I also like the Coranado Cafe ... the food is good and reasonably priced. I think they have a taxi driver special (before 6:00 am) breakfast menu. We've eaten there several times (usually a comped meal) and really love it! The buffet is "just okay" ... pretty average for LV buffets.

Additionally South Point has an in-house movie theatre and bowling alley which might be nice for the kids.

All of the input is much appreciated. Thinking I will need a comfy nights sleep between a long drive south from Idaho and then a long drive further south to San Diego. Trying to leave Idaho late and be in Socal early, I didn't want to rick a bad sleep.

I went with the Southpoint. Maybe if I do a split drive again I'll try the Silverton.

Southpoint was great. Superb room at a cheap rate. While I wouldn't go to Vegas and stay off the strip, Southpoint has me reconsidering that point of view.
