We are going for a week in Oct. (we think we're going with the week of Oct. 30th - Nov 5th), but we're definitely booking at the Fort Wilderness cabins. IF it's possible when booking, any advice regarding which loop is closer to a bus stop, which one is nicest (if they aren't all exactly the same), or any other tips about them? We'll have 3 kids and my mother-in-law with us and not renting a car, so really gonna be dependant on the bus system while there. Haven't decided on renting a golf cart while staying there either - esp since we all couldn't fit into one anyway and I can already hear the arguments between the kids over who rides in them. Thanks!

We stayed in the 2500 loop and I would highly recommend it. There is a bus stop right across the road which takes all of 30 seconds to walk to and it is right by the smaller pool and laundry. I have requested the same loop for our late Sept. trip. Be sure to enjoy the extra amenities they have. Be sure to catch Chip and Dale's sing along and movies that they offer every evening. You can also sit on the beach and watch the MK fireworks which is very special. The boat to MK from FW is the best way to travel! You will have a great time there!!

We stayed in Cabin 2517 (in loop 2500) and it was a perfect location for us. As an earlier poster noted, it's less than a minute to the bus stop. We were also really close to the quiet pool and laundry. That was a real advantage.

We rented a golf cart and were glad we did. We had 6 in our group, me, my sister, her husband, my 16 yo daughter, 6 yo niece and 8 yo nephew. While they don't really want you piling in that many people, we (and lots of others) did several times. Two adults in front with one child on the passenger's lap and three across in the back. We're all "normal" sized people. Most of the time, however, it was 2 or 4 people on the cart. We'd give each other the key when someone wanted to go back to the resort for a nap or swim.

The internal bus system worked fine. We rarely waited more than 5 minutes for a bus. I had one longer wait after I returned our golf cart at about midnight because we had an early ME pick up. I think I waited about 20 minutes for a bus back to the 2500 loop stop.

We had never stayed at the cabins before and we enjoyed it. I got a good AP rate. We really could have used one more bathroom, but we did well. Having the full kitchen is fabulous. We ordered groceries from www.gardengrocer.com and they were great about delivering (even unpacked my groceries and put stuff in the fridge).

Enjoy your trip.

Please keep in mind: the double bed in the room is too small for normal sized adults. I would advise letting the children sleep in there while you sleep in the living room's much more comfortable Murphy bed. The children and you will both enjoy the privacy.

My DH and I are both bigger - he is 6'6 and 300+ and I am not a small girl, either....and we fit just fine in a double :thumbsup2

Another vote for 2500. It's one of the smallest loops so you're never too far from the front of the loop and the main road. We loved walking to the pool and being able to do laundry easily.

There's a hot tub there, too.

I love the quiet cabin pool!!! Love the cabins!! I didn't find the transportation to be a pain, maybe 5 mins longer to get places, but nice. I love the quietness, the critters, everything about the cabins!! We have 8 people with us this next trip, and can't fit in one cabin, so we're staying in the treehouse at SSR, I'm hoping it'll be similar!!! I love walking out first thing in the morning to the deck, and seeing birds laying on the deck quietly, and the bunnies, and deer....just awesome!!! You can hear the MK fireworks, but other than that, or maybe a bus or 2, it's nice and quiet.
