Do you want to/need to see Bin Laden's body?

Did I want to see it? NO. Was I given that choice? No. One of the people on my FB decided it would be great to post his pic and, well, there went my breakfast this morning.

For all those wondering, it is VERY gruesome and while I am thrilled that he is dead, I could have lived a thousand years never having seen that.

I would imagine that for some of those who lost close loved ones due to his influence it might be some measure of comfort/relief/satisfaction. It's probably similar to how the victims family are permitted to watch a death sentence carried out. I don't blame them.

But for me, not necessary, it's enough that he's gone, besides I see a big pile of him and his friends every day when I clean up after my dogs in the yard.... inhuman

Check this out from some NY friend's Facebook, everyone I know still in NY is bursting at the seams

I don't personally need to see them but I do have need for them to exist and have the ability to look at them if I chose. If there were no photos and if they didn't preserve some DNA samples I would wonder if he was really gone too and I'm sure the Arab world wouldn't accept president Obama's word for it.
I guess I'm saying they need to exist and they need to be in te public domain but since they do then I don't have to look at them to believe.

Do we really need to see him strung up on a gibbet for two years like Captain Kidd? I believe he is dead. Good riddance to him.

The photo you are referring to (the one all the FB lemmings are circulating) is a poorly done fake. In this day and age even 12 year olds can spot PhotoShop hacking; the supposed "death photo" you saw is a clumsy edit of a prior 1998 photo of bin laden:

Some people may need to see his body, maybe not for proof, but for closure. So, to answer your question "yes", but for me personally, no.

Well, I'm not a 12 year old and no, I can't tell if it is a bad job or not. I can tell you that at 6 in the morning, while trying to eat breakfast and having to see that, my stomach hit my throat and breakfast almost landed on my keyboard.

I'll admit that the whole "he's dead and we buried him at sea" makes me a little skeptical.

Why is that?

I'm with golfgal on this one. No disrespect into towards our military, but on the surface with the mention of a burial at sea, the first thought is "no evidence". 10 years is a long time and this certainly was unexpected.

However, the decision is appropriate to prevent a shrine at his burial place.

While I do not need to see his body, I would certainly hope that the government has this well documented.

I think it was a mistake to bury him at sea. having him in the ground would give the opportunity for a "see he's there and he's dead" kind of thing. My cousin just started his 14 month stint at Camp leatherneck in march and I am concerned about his safety.

Shot in the head? Well, that's too bad. I was kind of hoping he was shot in the stomach and left to die a slow painful death.

You're not the only one. Why would we bury him at sea that quick?

That picture circulating is obviously a fake and I think people, some at least, will need tangible proof of a genuine photo.

Do I need to see it...Yes..I do...I am not able to just "accept" and move on...I need facts and proof. Call me a consiparcy theorist or whatever...Just because it was said on CNN etc..does not make it law..

The buried at sea thing makes me wonder even more...We could have buried him anywhere to prevent a shrine...but less than 24hrs later, and the body is already gone...:sad2:

Why is that?

Because it leaves no proof to anyone that he is actually dead. They "say" they have DNA evidence--but what are they comparing the DNA too-where did they get the first DNA sample to prove it is really him? It's just a little too convenient to say, "yeah, we killed him and dumped his body at sea." We all know that our government is 100% truthful all the time though :rolleyes1. FOr something this big there should have been outside confirmation, photos, just more proof.

Is it possible they claimed to have buried him at sea to prevent a shrine being created but didn't actually bury him anywhere? Maybe his body is in a giant gov't warehouse next to the Ark of the Covenant and the spaceship from Area 51?

Reports say that they did indeed take some DNA and I can understand the burial at sea as well and be thankful that he is dead and not captured. The "what do we do with him now" will not be an issue.

I have no issue seeing the pics nor and I completely understand others need to see them. I will find nothing gruesome in seeing them.

I asked that last night, but apparently the US has the DNA of some of his family/children to compare his to.
