DCL charged me $5 five days after we got off the ship. The charges from the room had already gone through. :confused3

I called to ask why they were charging me an extra $5 and they said they would research it and get back to me. They called the next day to say that a laundry bag was missing from the room when they went to clean it on the last day.

Laundry? bag? I do know they have the bag in the closet for you if you need to have laundry sent out, but I never paid any attention to wether or not it was there. We don't use them. Never have, never will. I did not take a laundry bag. I did go through my DH's things, thinking if he had a wet bathing suit when he was packing, he may have used it if it was plastic, but he had not. We knew nothing of a laundry bag.

They were nice and returned the $5 charge back to my account. Just a heads up....please check to be sure there is a laundry bag somewhere in your room (closet?) because if there is not, they will charge you!

We notices on embarkation day that there was not one in our closet--I immediately contacted our stateroom host and asked for one in order to not be charged for one missing at the end.

Sorry, but it seemed like one more thing to worry about--the older plastic bags were easier.

They're not plastic? Tells you how much I know. I thought they were plastic, that is why I was looking to see if DH packed a wet bathing suit in it.

This same thing happened to my wife and I on our Honeymoon cruise in November on the Wonder! The morning we disembarked, I had received a text from Chase Mobile telling me that they had charged our Debit card for the state room account -- all good there -- that was expected. Later on, upon getting onto DME, I received another alert that we were charged $5. Curious, I contacted DCL by phone.

They told me that they cannot look at a detailed listing of my account until "a few days" after the cruise. I called "a few days" later and they told me it was the laundry bag. I was baffled! We saw the bag in our closet when we arrived and when we left our room for the last time. So why did we get charged? My first thoughts were the state room host... but what would he have against us?

I was told the Cast Member who takes care of the credits was on vacation. In the in, it took almost 2.5 weeks for DCL to credit us the $5 back.

Is there an inventory sheet in the room? If not, then this is very suspicious. I work at a resort and we do charge people if MAJOR things are missing, but we generally don't charge if a can opener, or a glass, or a fork, or something like that is missing. We charge if MAJOR things are missing, and that's because we want our guests to return! Perhaps Disney doesn't feel the same way, or they KNOW that their guests WILL return because, from what I've read, they have a pretty high repeat guest rate. But still... charging people for little things only makes people mad. I guess their fail-safe is that they give it back if someone complains.

Thanks for the head's up! I'll be sure to be looking for elusive laundry bags in our room!!! ;)

WOW That can be a big money maker for Disney, if like the previous poster said, no one calls them to complain.

I thought the OP poster was talking about the plastic bags also, Thanks for the heads up.

The last day of our cruise, DH noticed the fabric laundry bag and thought it was really nice. He saw the paper attached to it that said (paraphrasing) "if you like this bag, take it and we'll charge your stateroom account $5." He wanted to take the bag but I felt bad about it. I told DH that I'd prefer to just go down to guest services and BUY the bag for $5 rather than appear to "steal" the bag and get charged days later. We have another cruise booked and if DH still wants the bag, I figure we can buy it at the beginning of the cruise. ;)

Wow -- what a pain. I prefer the plastic laundry bags and no problems with incorrect billing after the fact...:headache:

It seems odd that they wouldn't have a back-up person to take care of these issues. DCL is not a small company after all.
