Pofq vs pop

So...I booked POFQ way back in January. I think it was a mistake booking so early b/c I never got a PIN! :(

Anyway, I booked an 8 night stay with tickets (no dining). The package cost $2,919.45 (Family of 4. 2 Adults, a 13 yr old and a 5 yr old).

So...I am getting anxious over here thinking food @ the World will probably cost an extra 800 bucks or so once we are there, making the total trip cost close to 4 grand.

I decided to price out POP for the same length of time, BUT include dining.

I got $3,139.71 for Quick Service plan
and $3, 419.71 for Regular Dining plan

Is it worth it to switch from POFQ to POP? I have stayed @ both with DD (DH and SS have not stayed @ either). Will I regret my decision to switch? I am having anxiety over here!

Help me decide what to do pretty please!!! Everyone here tells me, "Whatever you want!!!" I want advice!

:)

I would stick with POFQ. With 4 people I would want the extra space, extra sink for getting ready, and the queen beds instead of doubles. Not to mention the recent refurb with all new beds, etc. The price would about the same once you factor in tips for table service and addtional snacks/drinks/meals you would have to pay for OOP on the dining plan. I would take the upgraded resort and enjoy! :thumbsup2

Free dining is supposed to come out Monday so you could apply that to your current ressie

She's going in June, free dining won't help.

OP, I'll try to avoid the "whatever you want" answer. We have stayed at POFQ 3 times, and Pop 2 times. All the trips have been great. At our budget level, we go for the value unless we can get free dining, at which point we can get a mod for the same price.

You can really save quite a bit of money by staying @ Pop. To me, it's all about how important is the resort aspect of the experience. When you go, do you spend a lot of your time at the resort, or do you spend most of your time at the parks? If the resorts are mostly about sleeping in your room and a quick meal at the food court, then stay at Pop. If you like to take time to hang at the resort, in your room, and specifically at the pool, I would consider picking the mod over the value.

The other aspect, which only you can know, is what you can afford. The price difference between the two resorts for the same experience is probably close to $500. In my view, you DO have to budget your food, which is part of why we like the DDP as it really allows for food budgeting much easier. If with food in the budget your costs get too high, you should switch to Pop.

And maybe its a choice between the two: resort vs food. Ask the family, would they rather eat better, or have the nicer hotel?

Will you regret the switch? IDK that one...how set are you and your family on POFQ?

Stay at POFQ. The hotel is a little nicer, not as many people since the hotel is smaller, slightly larger rooms and with the 4 people u need the extra space. Bussing is better at FQ. I would suggest FQ, but thats just me. We only stay there, no matter what.

Thanks for the replies! I am still debating. DH will be home soon, so we will talk about it then! :) I bet we will end up staying where we are. DD and I are not big eaters...and the dining plan is a lot of food. I am so confused! :)

When I called (I got the other prices online)...

it was actually 3553 for POP and regular dining (I forgot to factor in trip insurance which we used when we first booked).

Skier Pete--That is exactly what I told my family----food or hotel room! :)

How much time do you spend in the room? My family goes full-on commando so we spend very little time in the room.

I would switch.

Or check into renting points from someone on the DVC board - but watch out - I did that a couple of times and then bought points myself!!!:lmao:

JKMJ441724-We aren't commando...we spend an equal time @ the pool and parks. I have been to Disney so many times, I try to relax a little (although it is hard! :) )

I am trying to convince DH to buy points already! :)

Made me lol.

Good luck! I'm sure you guys will have a great time no matter what you decide!
