May 3rd Alaskan...how empty do you think it is?

Hmmmm....we're on the May 10th Alaska cruise and there are only verandah and concierge rooms left. How strange that there is such a difference... Here's hoping there's an upgrade in your future!!

But there are alot of verandah and concierge rooms. Actually there are 8 suites open and I have never seen that many open this close to sailing.

The may 10th sailing was cheaper than the may 3rd, also may 3rd is really way way too early for alaska. May 10th is pushing it (im hoping for quieter ports)

I'm looking forward to hearing reports back from you guys... we are booked on May 31st.

I think there are rooms open on the earlier May cruises because that is still early for the Alaskan cruise season. The May 10th would have been cheaper than the May 3rd, in my opinion because the May 3rd is the first sailing to Alaska, and typically any "inaugural" type sailing is more expensive.

Hope you guys luck out on some upgrades... There are very few rooms left on the May 31st when I checked about upgrading mine. Oh well, I like the cabin I picked.

Have a great time!

Do you mean way too early because of weather? I know that most of the port days, DCL is the ONLY ship in port!!

I would assume weather, but for 2011 Disney is starting the alaska cruise season 2-3 weeks earlier than most anyone else. I was orginally booked on the May 3rd but switched to the May 10th since when we started looking into things not everything was avaible (like dog sledding on the glacier)

Yeah, I was disappointed that the particular dog sledding was not available for the May 3rd. However, I found plenty to do! And I am sure we will have a great time!

Our May 17th is still fairly empty. Still waiting on my gty assignment- they are really pushing it - yesterday they opened up 11C, now those are gone and they have 11B. I got in on an amazing IGT special, they still have an OGT special.
I am hoping for some nice upgrades.
I think most people know if they are sailing within the next 3 weeks by now - not too many people can pick up and leave for a week on a moments notice - so I am guessing that May 3rd will stay fairly empty and hopefully our May 17th too (upgrades???!!)

It's so odd that May 3rd and 17th seem so empty and May 10th only has concierge and verandahs left. (I know they have a lot of them left, but it's still weird.) The May 10th sailing was the only one that would work with my husband's leave schedule for the military, so that's what we're doing. They did offer military discounts for our cruise, which is always really nice.

Some of our friends are CMs and wanted to go with us, so they have been checking for discounts. They said none have been offered for May 10th, but they were for the others. So, I guess we'll have to go without them this time. I wonder why May 10th seems to be a little more filled :confused3

Regardless, it should be an amazing cruise! I've been reading some of the May 3rd meet thread and they seem like they've got some great stuff planned! It may be an emptry cruise, but they seem like an active bunch! :goodvibes
