Port Orleans (RS) vs. Caribbean Beach

I took my family to POP on our last trip. We loved it and would be happy there again, I bet.
Yet, I am considering a Moderate resort--with a pool with a slide.

Which would you prefer--Port Orleans RS or Caribbean Beach?

Shorter rides to parks (compared to POP) would be nice. . .
Good CS is a plus. . .

Quiet and kid-friendly. . .

Waterslide a must.

I would love your 2 cents. Please tell me your opinion.

Thanks.

(To Clarify a pool question--Port Orleans RS and FQ do NOT share pools and we would not be permitted to use the pool at FQ if staying at RS--correct? a simple yes or no will do.)

My family has stayed at POR and CBR. My family loves CBR. We love the beautiful tropical colors and foliage at CBR; we love the white sandy beaches with hammocks and friendly ducks; we love the larger rooms with two double sinks and extra storage; we love the quiet pools and the main themed pirate pool with a neat slide; and we love the food court options and the gift shop. We consider CBR or home away from home.

On the other hand, I liked POR. It was beautiful and we all loved the boat ride to DTD. The pool was nice but we definitely liked CBR's better. But we did use the pool at FQ one day and it was OK. The food court had good food options and the gift shop was nice. There was nothing wrong with POR but my family fell in love with CBR so that is the moderate we always choose.

Good luck with your decision!

We stay at a totally different moderate, but we have visited all of them a number of times. If ours were not available, we would go to the POR-Riverside. Perosnally, we think the theme at the Riverside is beautiful, the food court the best in all of Disney as far as we are concerned, a nice pool; they also will be going through a rehab soon. Yes, you can use the pool at both resorts as they are "sister resorts."

Although we did not care for the food court either of the two times we ate at the CBR, they do have an awesome new pool area, especially for the younger set.

If it were me, I'd go with POR-Riverside.

Well we love POR! Ill start by saying once you go moderate you wont go back to value thats for sure.Anyway POR has a great food court great grounds and Piano Bob of course, along with something for everyone. The bus service is good from POR but for transit times I find POP is pretty good overall and so is POR.

I go to WDW several times a year and have pretty much settled on the moderates as my resorts of choice. I'd rank them:

#1. and #2. a close tie between CSR and POFQ
#3. PORS
and a very distant #4 CBR

Between the two you listed PORS has the better food court and bus service. We also prefer their pool. The main pool at CBR has always been packed when we've been there. Both are pretty resorts though.

Thank you all for your replies.

I have eliminated CBR. Now on to deciding between POP and PORS.

POP is ninety some dollars a night. . . can't beat that with FD. (We like CS.)

Either way--it is DISNEY and it will be fantastic.

I have stayed at all the Mods, my favorite is POFQ, followed by PORiverside. CBR is pretty but its so spread out. We really enjoyed the pretty areas at Port Orleans, the Mansions, the Bayou, and as Riverside and FQ are sister resorts you have the choice of 2 big slide pools, plus all the lovely quiet pools to use.
:thumbsup2

I've stayed at both POR Riverside and CBR. I will not stay at CBR again without requesting a preferred room. The busses are a pain and, coke junkies like me don't want to walk 10 minutes every night after the parks to get a refill. I requested a specific building (14, 18) at POR riverside and we were only a small walk to the food court. it was lovely and the boad to downtown disney is very relaxing and fun.

Have a great time on your vacation! I'm off to the world the 14th of September, my first stay at a value resort, All-Star Movies.

CBR and PORS are my two favorite mod's!!! Its funny though ...I usually stay at PORS when its colder and CBR when its really SUMMER in Florida! Each resort has its own fun things . You can take a boat to Downtown Disney from PORS and its such a nice break from the norm. Either way you really cant go wrong. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes

I prefer PORS because of the pools, food court, location and the peace and quiet of the resort. It is my favorite and one of the most friendly. We just got back, week after Easter and it was wonderful.

When we need two rooms, I pick POP. We have been to POP many times. The kids like it, it is a room and clean and the food court is good. But it is not my first pick.

I also am deciding between POP or PORS for August and it comes down to price. If cost isn't an issue, I would pick PORS, you won't regret it.

I have not stayed at POR but just returned from CBR and i would not stayed there again. The rooms where very dated and worn...there were stains on the bed ruffles and mousekeeping was REALLY lacking. The food court was great.

Id go for Por. I didn't care for cbr. I didn't like the size of the resort and that we had to drive to everything and also didn't care for the rooms. Love walking the grounds of por! Have a great vacation!

We stayed at CBR last August and my only complaint was the bus service. I remember one day coming back from AK, and there were three AS buses that came to pick up guest and we were still waiting for our first bus. :confused3 It was over 30 minutes before the bus came. This was our worst bus day, but it always seemed like we waited longer for buses than other moderate resorts or value for that matter. We had two connecting rooms, and they were very clean and well kept. My grandkids also enjoyed the pool, but their bus system will probably keep me a way for awhile.
