Have been to Disney multiply times but have never used this option. I have a couple of questions about it.

Do you put estimated time arrival?

How early can you put your arrival time to be?

Can you add an anniversary celebration when doing online check in?

Any advice is welcome. I am staying at All Star Sports would you do the online check in what have been your experiences. We are driving and not arriving DME.

There are boards on this, I recently have read quite a few and from what I have read, all are HEAVILY MIXED, 50/50 seems like. We have never done it before, so this year we are trying it, the pros seem to outweigh the cons for us because I dont feel there would be a BAD spot at WLV, so well be happy wherever, but I have read some view at other resorts, or some bldngs are closer to buses than others, so I guess its where youre staying. IMO..
Good Luck!! pixie dust for a great room for you!!

We drive every trip, and stay at ASMovies. On one trip I stood in line for 30 minutes to check in, while the "on line check in" line was practically EMPTY. I vowed to do on line check in from then on, and have not stood in line as long since then.

I usually put an est. time of arrival because I'm pretty certain within an hour's time frame, of when we will arrive.

When I originally book the trip, I do so by phone so that I can have the CM enter my request for a particular building. I usually get my request - only couldn't get it on one trip. fyi... if you find when you check in that they have not placed you in the building you wanted, you can ask them to check if your requested bldg is available...sometimes they can switch you. you are never guaranteed requests when you book.

there is an area during the online check in process where you can enter a celebration. you can also call to have a cm enter it into your reservation.

We did online check-in at Pop last year and I really saw no difference in the check-in procedure at all. We still waited in line and we still had to answer a series of questions upon arriving. Matter of fact, I truly believe we would have been done earlier had we just gone through the regular line.

One caveat, our room was ready when we arrived at Noon so I don't know if that would have been the case if we hadn't used online check-in or not.

You must indicate a time of arrival.

You can put as early as you want, but the computers don't roll over to the current day until 7:00 am.

You cannot indicate specific items, such as an anniversery; that should be on your original ressie.

I've done online check in my two recent trips, and I'll be doing it again next month.

Both prior trips I was on the ME bus, I was one of the last people to get off the bus, AND we had to collect one bag from underneath...we were the last group from that ME bus load to walk into Pop. The standard check-in line was full and went slightly past the ropes. The online que line was empty. I walked up. Gave my name and provided our ID's. They asked if I've been before, since I had - i was handed my check-in packet and provided a hotel map showing my room location. It took all of 3 minutes to check-in.

all the while the standard check in line didnt budge.
my room was ready, i was able to drop stuff off and get set up and relax for quick bit before starting my vacation.

i'm pro online check in, but i've read horror stories about it taking longer than a standard check it. i guess it all depends.

however, one constant complaint i've seen are from people that checked in online and had a few special requests they made prior to arriving. if you dont care about your room location or you dont have a laundry list of demands, it should be easy otherwise... you might be waiting at the desk longer than you'd care to.

You can add celebrations to your reservation before online checkin online. When you get to your reservation page online, click on "Continue". From there you can add or delete celebrations.

ETA--Unless you are going to change a room because you have specific requests that need to be met, then you should defintely do online checkin. Our room was not ready last year (7am checkin), but it was ready by 9am.

I can not add a celebration because a booked through a TA before online check in that is why I asked about it during online check in.

I have used it. I think the reason people are so 50/50 about it is because it's variable. Sometimes you are checking in at a busy time and it's nice to go to the shorter line. Other times it doesn't seem to make much difference. It seems to make the CM's job a little easier as they can do it all ahead of time.. but it didn't do much for me. I won't bother in the future.

Heck, my only request for Pop was any bldg BUT the 70's. They couldn't even do that.
