We got our first DSLR about a yr ago and have not quite mastered it but are looking at getting another lens. We have a Canon Rebel XSI any suggestions or tips?
That is a very open-ended question!! What are you looking to do with this new lens? What do you currently have? Budget? Are you looking for faster ($$)? You will have to supply some more information so someone can provide you some guidance to the hundreds of lenses available.
No worries, that's how everyone on this forum started and you don't learn without asking questions. Just a little more information, what is it that your current lens isn't doing that you want to do? Are you adverse to changing lenses for different situations?
As Danielle (photo_chick) stated the 55-250 will work and not break the bank. Maybe one of the Canon shooters can give you the specific lens that works with your camera (I shoot Pentax). At some point, I would look at Canon's 50mm f1.8. Its a relatively cheap lens (about $125) and will allow you to shoot in lowlight without a flash.
