Nicest timeshare closest to Universal?

We usually stay DVC when doing Disney and the Marriotts (Cypress Harbour) when visiting SeaWorld or just off-site.

If we were looking to exchange through II, which comparable timeshares should we consider that would be the closest to Universal?

We can always stay at DVC or MCH, but we would be drawn to Disney too much. We want to have a non-Disney trip this time. :rolleyes1 So thought to change it up from our usual and look for something closer to US.

Thanks for any suggestions.

IMO if you're looking for something comparable in terms of a quality timeshare resort to a DVC or Cypress Harbour that's closer or the same distance to Universal than they are I'd suggest then you'd be limited to a couple of Hilton Grand Vacation Club resorts - HGVC at SeaWorld (about a quarter mile closer to Universal than Cypress Harbour, around 5 1/2 miles) or HGVC Parc Soleil (on Palm Parkway - maybe six miles from Universal). Cypress Harbour is about 5 3/4 miles from Universal. The HGVCs are very nice.

If you are definately going to do the exchange through II, your best choices are the Marriotts.

If you are willing to cash in some DVC points and trade RCI the HGVC would be a great choice.

We are staying at Beach Club Villas in August and will not be going to any Disney parks. Would like to be closer to Universal, but the kids love the pool here.

No, I wouldn't exchange any DVC points. I would try to do an exchange through II with the family timeshare.

I have a tendency of staying in the same places off-site because I am unfamiliar with other places. Looks like most of the recommendations are around the same area. Lol.

Just wondering if there are other places I should consider that might be a wee closer to US/IOA. It doesn't have to be in the caliber of the Marriotts, although it would still have to be clean and well maintained.

But I guess, if the distances aren't significant, then I'd might as well stay in a known quality accommodation.

Thanks again!

Yep, that's what I think, too. Unless you want a Westgate experience - Westgate Lakes on Turkey Lake Road - then you'd be less than six miles from Universal at Cypress Harbour. Westgate Lakes is about 4 miles from the Universal parking garages and the rooms and resort are supposed to be nice but you'd have to deal the insistence of the high-pressure Westgate sales team.

If it were me I'd grab Cypress Harbour and be very happy with that resort (but then we've stayed at DVC Saratoga Springs and spent the whole week going back and forth to Universal).

I would recommend the Hilton vacation club Parc Soleil. We were just there and it is a great resort. On top of that, you can take a left out of the parking lot onto the Palm Pky north and drive straight to Universal. No route 4 or I-drive. You will have to go through a couple of intersections but we did this and it was faster.

But Parc Soleil is exchanged through RCI so the OP's plan to exchange through Interval won't work for this resort. :)

Westgate Lakes is great for convenient access to Universal, but only so-so as a resort. We let my teen stay later than the rest of the family and it was only about a 10 - 15 min drive, depending on traffic, to pick him up.

Hi,
can anyone recommend one of these orlando resorts over the other (liki tiki or marriot cypress harbour). I think the marriot looks better, but the water slides at the liki tiki appeal to me as I have 3 kids ages 6, 8, 12. Perhaps the kids stuff at the marriot is also good? Thanks

We stayed at Liki Tiki in Jan of this year, for our trip to US/IOA and the drive,in the morning was about 20 minutes....it's Rt192 to Rt 4.....almost a straight shot.We liked Liki Tiki....had a great, quiet room....thought the resort was nice with a wonderful "Quiet"pool.:yay::yay::yay:
