We have been thinking about getting a new vacuum and happened to see this ad for this on tv. It looks like a pretty good vacuum and the reviews on amazon look good. It also comes with a Stark steam mop which I have been wanting too.

Has anyone tried this vacuum? We have 2 german shepards so it is tough to get a vacuum that can handle all the fur.

We have one, and we both really like it. DH is a mechanical engineer, and he's griped for years at my choices in vacuums (I tend to go for the cheapest one). So, I let him pick one out, and this is what he got.

We don't have dogs, so I can't help you there. It does pick up a LOT of cat hair, though.

It's probably cheaper to get one from somewhere other than the internet. Wew got ours at Bath & Body Works, with a 20% off coupon. The "free" steam mop is one of the lower-end models--we also have a Shark steam mop that we love, but it's a better one. If you really need a steam mop, you should take a look and see if the free one really meets your needs.

Yes, I got mine at BBB also, the "free" steam mop can be purchased elsewhere cheaper! With the 20% off code at BBB it was like $170... not sure. Something like that.

I also have a Dyson and dogs. Here is my opinion:

Yes, it's a good vacuum. I do really like it. I was interested in it because I loved the lift away feature for at home on the stairs. I clean a small office once a week and also volunteer to clean at our church. They Dyson is too heavy/cumbersome/expensive to drag around to these places with me. I thought the swivel on it (yep, I went cheap with my Dyson, not a ball!) would maybe help with cleaning around the pews at church, the worst part of that job! And I figured I can keep it downstairs at home and that'll get cleaned more often (along with the stairs). So, it's been to the office and worked great. Loved it, easier than using the broom on the tile, easy to take along, and now I have a crevice tool which their vacuum doesn't have. So good there. It's not gone to the church yet, not my turn, I'll be doing this next week.

I did put it to the test at home. I have 2 Labradors and had not vacuumed for about two weeks (LONG story) so the carpet in the living room was pretty bad. Perfect for a test. I ran the shark over the entire carpet. Issue #1: to vacuum the entire room I had to empty the canister 3 times!!! It's S-M-A-L-L. But it was easy to use, very quiet, and I loved the swivel! Then I ran over the carpet again with my Dyson. Resultsissue #2) the Dyson did pick up some more dog hair, but surprisingly very little. I'd say about 1/4 cup more. I was very impressed. Now, I'd never give up my Dyson, it did do a better job and I love it. But for someone that doesn't want to spend the $$$ for a Dyson I think this little Shark will make you happy. You may want to go over the carpet twice to be sure to get all the dog hair, but it's so easy to use and light I don't think you'll care.... as long as emptying the canister frequently isn't an issue for you. Many people seem to complain about this and won't recommend it just on that, I don't think it's a big deal.


Just so you know, I have no idea why there is a frown face after my results word, I didn't put it there! HA!

for either 129.00 or 139.00. I don't think it is exactly the same as the one on TV, but maybe it is. So far(I've had it about a month) I really like it. It is so light compared to my Dyson(which broke). I feel like I am more inclined to pull it out and vacuum which is a good thing. Steps are a breeze and so is carrying it upstairs. It can tip over easily so make sure when you stand it you lean it against a wall or something.

Just as a comparison, I vacuum every couple days--I have 3 cats and 4 kids. More probably wouldn't kill me, but why take a chance? Anyway, I just wanted to mention that I empty the canister whenever I move the vacuum to another outlet. It's really not difficult to empty. I actually LIKE using it, which is saying something, because I'm totally not a housecleaning type person.

Oh, and I also like the crevice tool, especially on my couches and stairs.

I bought one and I LOVE it. Walmart had it for a great price. I suppose the canister is a bit smaller than others but I really didn't have a problem with it.

Oh yes, I totally agree!! I was furious that it had been so long, fur on EVERYTHING! But I thought it gave it a good chance to compare to the Dyson, and I did say that I like the Shark, I'd recommend it to anyone. I don't want anyone to think it is as good as a Dyson... which is what a lot of reviews were saying. You can tell is doesn't dig into the carpet as well as the Dyson, but if your carpet isn't neglected it'll do a great job. I also don't mind emptying the canister frequently (although I did forget and it does bug me that the cord is short and I have to also move that while doing my living room... never do with my Dyson). Again, others in reviews really made a stink about the small canister and having to empty it frequently, even though it's light and easy to empty.
