I want to order vegetable garden seeds online, any recomendations?

I'm going to expand my veggie garden this year (well, I will if DH builds me the garden boxes I want...) and I'm looking for better selection than the seed packs I'm seeing at the home improvement stores. I googled it and about 10 million links came back, so I'm not sure who to order through.

Can anyone here make a recomendation?

I go on ebay as I can get crazy seeds. I normally grow things no one else in my area really does from spoon tomatos to purple carrots. The kids love them alot.

I'm very partial to Baker Creek because the people who run the place are just so great and because they don't use certain suppliers that I don't want to do business with, even though they arean't the cheapest out there. That would have been a good deal. I don't order seeds online because they all seem to charge a fortune for shipping.

Your local County Extension office may have a list of sources for you or they may do a seed swap for those who save seeds.

You need to see what companies are in your growing area so the harvests work with your weather!

Look up farm nurseries in your area. They sell seedlings geared for your micro weather system. These plants will grow the BEST and give you the Best results, at harvest!! You will need less of each kind. And you will be surprised at the verities of plants you will find!!!

Actaully the farm nurseries out here only sell the common ones, very little heirloom varieties (a few, but not much). IL is pretty easy to grow stuff, as long as you're carefull when you plant (we can get late frosts) and skip cool weather crops you can grow just about anything here.

I guess living in NW, Oregon, our growing season is about 2 months so we have to buy area specific crops and cold weather plants. Like there isn't any way to grow a Beef Steak Tomatoes there just isn't enough sun. We buy especially developed short season plants!! And pray the clouds will part and the rain will stop long enough in august to give a chance to get a harvest!!

And of course we have enough Specialty growers that there is plenty of variety!!
