myrtle beach help....

planning a trip this summer to myrtle, we have stayed at long bay (too dark) and seamist (tooo spread out) in the past.. any suggestions please!!

Have you considered North Myrtle Beach ? The Avista resort is on the beach and near many places to eat and play putt-putt. There is also a super Walmart close by. A new bypass takes you straight into NMB.

We love Dunes Villiage Resort. It has 2 indoor water parks as well out out door pools and lazy rivers. We've stayed at Long Bay as well and Dunes Villiage is much nicer and only slighty more expensive. The only downside to this hotel is the parking garage is across the street which is a bit inconvient, but we think its worth it for all the amenties the hotel has to offer.

I don't recommend North Myrtle Beach to be honest. I lived in Myrtle Beach about a year and half ago and now live in Pawleys Island, which is only an hour away.
A lot of the hotels in NMB are dated and the main stuff is on the strip. During summer, traffic to get to MB from NMB is horrible, especially if you don't know the back roads all too well like someone who has lived here for a bit.

When we would vacation here, my family loved staying at Compass Cove. It has changed since then, however we still hear good reviews about it.

I hope you all have fun while you stay here. Make sure to play some putt-putt, eat ice cream, enjoy the beach, shop, hit up the aquarium, etc. But PLEASE, and I beg of you PLEASE don't be one of those pushy "tourists" that treat the people that work at a restaurant/store/etc. like poop all because you're on vacation. (I worked in retail at the outlet mall during the summer and it was really bad). Deontology, treat someone how you would want to be treated.

We always stay in the smaller, low rise building which is the schooner building. if you have a AAA card you can get some good deals. The room is big enough and has a fridge and sink and microwave. We eat breakfast and lunch in the room everyday. They just put in 2 smaller water slides but my boys (7 and 8) love them. They have lots of small pools and lazy rivers and a kiddie play area my boys love.

The onsite restaurant is fine but nothing spectacular. My sister lives in MB so we always go out for dinner or to her place.

We always request a floor higher up (3rd or 4th floor) b/c the pool noise is lessened up there. Plus on the ground floor everyone walks right by and you have no privacy.

You know what's crazy? I lived in Myrtle Beach since 1985 and I don't even know where the best place to stay is..... I may be able to answer some other questions that you have!

I am going to second the Avista Resort in North Myrtle Beach. It was super clean and very reasonable!

I suggest Ocean Lakes Campground. We have a house in Ocean Lakes and it is a great family place to go. There are many houses and campers to rent. In the summer there are lots of thing for the kids to do and play with other kids. It is much nicer than staying at a hotel.

We love this place. We just returned from a long weekend and it was great.

I suggest Ocean Lakes Campground. We have a house in Ocean Lakes and it is a great family place to go. There are many houses and campers to rent. In the summer there are lots of thing for the kids to do and play with other kids. It is much nicer than staying at a hotel.

We were just considering them for a tent camping trip in a few weeks. Looks like a lot of fun for the kids. Glad to hear you like it!

I second Ocean Lakes! We stay there every summer for 2 weeks. They have everything right there. You could stay and not leave the campground at all if you wanted.

dunes village here too, the water parks are small but dd likes them (4) and i'd say any child under 12-14ish would enjoy anythign over might be underwelmed but they are still fun. The rooms are very nice but ocean front is the way to go some of their ocean view rooms are just a joke ... lean out the balcony so far and you MIGHT see the ocean funny.

My parents have a place in Carolina Dunes in North Myrtle Beach, which I've been to countless times. The beach is beautiful and I have never had reason to go all the way to Myrtle Beach for the boardwalk because we have enough to do in the NMB area. If you are going to relax, eat, shop and golf, NMB is a perfect spot.
