I will be doing the CP in the fall and I'm wondering how time off works? How many days off during the week do you get? I live far away is it possible to get a long weekend to fly home for a few days? How do you get from the apartments/accomodates to the airport? Do people take cabs or bus service and how far away and what is the cost? Can you take a few days off in a row if family or friends come down to Disney to visit?

When I did the CP in 2008 you worked 5 days a week and had 2 off. It depends on which 2 days you get off though (It probably won't be on saturday and sunday). The best way to get a long weekend off to fly home is when you get down there and work a little bit you can request days off on the hub. You have to give them enough notice of your requested time off though. It's not too hard to get a weekend off, you just have to request it way in advance to get it.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info...but one more question...were the two days that you had off a week in a row (or was it like Monday and a Thursday)?

Well my 2 days off were always Thursday and Friday. I worked at the Boardwalk Resort so it may be different in the parks, although my roommate worked quick service at the MK and he also had Thursday and Friday off. I know they try to give you back to back days off though.

It is possible to get long weenends off, whether you want to take those weekends to go home or to have friends/family down. The most I could get off was 5-6 days. you are not allowed to take off more than 10 days in a row. (if you do, thats grounds for termination). Just make sure you put in your time way in advance to be sure you get it off. If you get most of the days off and get denied one or 2 of the days, then you can always switch or give away a shift to a fellow cast member or on the extra hours hotline.

hope this helps..

It should be noted that there is absolutely no truth to the rumour that often circulates among Florida-Site CPs that one can be terminated for taking more than x days off.

The last few weeks of my CP, I took off almost two and a half weeks in total for various reasons - I asked for time off for most of it and gave away the rest. While it may not be a good idea finance-wise, especially if one is in Company Housing, as long as it's all approved through the Florida-Site Workforce Management office (formerly Labor Operations), there shouldn't be any problem.

Yeah, my managers were able to give me almost 2 weeks off during my program when my grandma passed away. I didn't request them off so much as my manager saw me running into her office sobbing (I found out I needed to go home because my she wouldn't make it through the night literally as I had my hand on the door to go in to work).

That was a really rare instance though and even my recruiter now was extremely shocked how long I was given to go home but the point is that nothing bad happened as a result. Because I had it cleared with my manager I didn't receive any points and my shifts were reassigned. It really helped though that at the time we were way overstaffed and had a ton of part timers limited to 1 day a week who desperately wanted shifts.

My advice for the CP? Be a really great employee who gets along well with your managers and coworkers so that when something unexpected and urgent happens they are more willing to help you. A fellow CP had a similar situation and was not helped nearly as much because he constantly called in and was a crappy employee when he was there.

How do you get from the apartments/housing to the airport? Do CP people take cabs or bus service to the airport? How far away is the airport and what is the cost to get there if you take a cab or bus?

If there's no limit to the total number of days we can take off, is there a limit to the number of consecutive days we can take off, assuming these are all cleared through management?
