So, I just learned that Elias and Flora Disney once lived in Portland Oregon. I would love to know where abouts!!!

Does anyone have an idea?

There was something about this in the CNBC biography program they did on Walt Disney, unfortunately I've deleted the PVRed copy I had... I can't remember specifics but maybe if you can get your hands on it?

I'll look. Several books reference this fact but the details are sparse since Walt himself never lived here.

Ask and you shall receive ... but only this (get your mind out of the gutter): 628 Morrison (at least that's what it looks like).

I love you..guess I'll have to stop stalking you now.;)

Elias also lived in Kissimmee! :thumbsup2

Walts father Elias Disney had moved to the United States after his parents failed at farming in Canada. As a child Elias moved with his family all around the United States, as his father chased various business ventures. He also worked as a mailman in Kissimmee (Orlando), Florida, future home of Walt Disney World. Elias moved to Chicago in the late 1800s soon after his marriage to Flora Call.

I think I've read all of the Walt Disney biographies, and from what I can remember, they moved to Portland OR, after living in Kansas City. They ran sort of a boarding/rooming house. Think they did this around 1922? They lived there until 1937 when Walt had them moved closer to him and Roy, because they worried about them running a rooming house. Of course, Flora died not long after they moved to California due to a faulty gas line in the house that Roy and Walt bought for them. I don't know specifics on the address that they lived at. Not even sure it was mentioned in the books I read or not.

If I knew that's all it took then I wouldn't have spent all that time and money on restraining orders!

That is cool - I wonder if that influenced his choice of location.

From what I have read, the primary location was chosen because of...

1. Weather

2. Price of the land

and 3. The proximity to the I-4 Florida Turnpike intersection.

Of course, Lilian died not long after they moved to California due to a faulty gas line in the house that Roy and Walt bought for them.

It was Walt's mom Flora that died from the gas poisoning.

Lillian was Walt's wife who died in 1997.

I heard Walt had them both preserved and placed in the park-
Elias is filling in for William Howard Taft in the The Hall of Presidents and
Flora was first in The Land - but now has been recolorised and placed in Spaceship Earth -
she's that one with the afro and the groovey boots in the computer scene. :flower3:

Disney is noted as the owner of this house on the oldest historical permit from 1925. Later, the name Mrs. Beecher is noted - the name Walt's sister Ruth took when she married Theodore Beecher. Apparently, they retained ownership of the house after Ruth's parents moved to California in 1937 to be near Walt. It appears to still be in their ownership to this day, even though Ruth, her husband and their only son have all passed.

He home is still in the family, always will be. When Theodore Beecher died, Ruths only child, it became part of the family trust, which is owned by theodores 3 children.
