Tuscana Resort - Beware

Being so excited able to extend our vacation this year(as posted) we took a chance at Tuscana resort. Paying upfront and confirming accommodations upon booking in January for our 3 night stay the end of February, I called two days before arrival and was told everything was in order but they had scheduled a timeshare tour the day after my arrival. This was quite shocking to say the least. At no time during my reservation did I agree to any kind of sales promotion. We were originally booked for block 7-8 top floor two bedroom, double, two twin beds but after explaining that I had no idea that there was any kind of sales promotion involved,and I would not participate, the reps demeanor changed, my reservation also changed to block 5 second floor. Upon arrival at there so called club house,it appeared more like a real estate office, we were treated everything but politely almost like they didn't want us there. The total for our 3 day stay was 321.00 US dollars which I thought was a great price regardless of our unkind welcome and was going to enjoy it. Arriving at our two bedroom condo and opening the door it smelled like animal urine and cigarette smoke. Also when I went to open the patio doors to relieve some of the disgusting odor , the traffic noise from the I-4 eye site away was unbelievable. Also two double beds , not the double and two twins that I had been confirmed at my reservation. Returning to the lobby? now on the offensive upset , we were treated unbelievable by the staff member that checked us in. He claimed that the resort was fully booked , this was all they were offering , if we didn't like it we could go somewhere else and by no means would we receive any kind of refund. Due to the time of day in an unfamiliar area of Orlando , we reluctantly returned to the unit. The smell was repulsive , when trying to determine where the animal had violated the carpet , the carpet was so wore and dirty , enough to make gag. The bathrooms were so dirty I had to clean them before I could allow my children to use the facilities.The noise from the I4 was bad enough,but worse the people jumping partying above us.No security after dark as I found a 2am. This is by far our worst experience in traveling to Florida now 6 years.Left sunlight the following morning. Heartbreaking that this resort could do this to a family on vacation.I believe that we were victimized. When we arrived home we contacted Tuscana concerning our experience and they are flatly denying that they have anything to do with any types of timeshare sales or promotions. Completely untrue.Just go online!! We will not settle until we are refunded the total charge. My advice!! by no means pay up front at Tuscana Resort and view your unit before payment is made.We hope this dose not happen to others but it will! We were fortunate enough to get into the Sheraton Vistana Resort two days before our arrival date where this terrible experience was made right for the remainder of our vacation by the cleanliness, the quality and the kindness of the staff at this resort. We are now being accused by Tuscana owners some happy satisfied guests, the resort management itself of false allegations. Deplorable behavior by those at this facility. We will be returning next year to Sheraton Vistana resort.

It seems that even in this day and age, Florida laws can not protect unsuspecting vacationers from these type of rental operations that still choose to manipulate the system for profit over satisfaction of there guests.The positive here is that we will never have to return. A lesson learned!

If it makes you feel any better, someone who'd been TSing for a decade agrees with you in terms of the resort's (lack of) quality. They titled their RCI review of Tuscana "This Place Is a Dump" and thought the employees rude to boot.

Glad you had a better experience with Sheraton Vistana.

Could you get your CC company involved? I will definitely stay clear of this resort if we ever leave the Vistana!

For what it's worth, our first choice is always the Vistana. For the past 9 years, we've always found it to be clean, friendly and an all around wonderful resort!

I'm sure they put you in that room because you refused the sales pitch. I probably wouldn't have said anything and just not shown up for the meeting. I would have notified the front desk after seeing that room that you would be contacting the State Health Department. They may or may not have changed their attitudes, but it wouldn't have hurt to suggest it. Probably the best thing you can do is tell everyone on every website how bad the resort is. Eventually they will start to suffer from lack of guests. Also, did you check tripadvisor before you booked the room? I always check the reviews for a hotel I've never been to before.

I did contact central Florida BBB,but as a business owner that is a BBB member I am aware of the limitations they have .Tuscana rentals is not a BBB member.That dose not surprise me now! I wish that I could post the response that was given from Tuscana management ,to say It was less than truthful would be an understatement to say the least.I thought that I had did my research,DISboards,tripadvisor as well as other sites.I am compared to many on this site new at this.These type of rental operations are able to operate with subpar standards that are with in the law.If I had agreed to the sales promotion, I would of received a far better unit?, of coarse!!.But that was not in the agreement.Many have had a very good time at Tuscana Resort ,we must be happy for them.I have already received two responses from those that got taken for a lot more money than us and could not afford to leave. I must be thankful that I was able leave and to get into the SVR early. I am a Amex gold card member,that I work very hard to maintain.I have contacted them,but should it have come to this? I have received a credit from SVR that I did not even notice on my statement,that's honest business!!, that's why the SVR or SVV will be our vacation destination in Orlando FEB. 1212.
