how cheap can we do 2 weeks in orlando?

we don't mind staying at a budget motel/hotel. i found one for 2 weeks for $350, which i think is great.

park tickets will be around $260 per person for the 10 day (no hopper or extra), and then MVMCP would be another $60ish so $320 a person.

don't know if we'll have a kitchen/fridge, as we're not staying where we normally stay, which is a timeshare/villa that has one.

that said, how can we do food and things as cheap as possible? how much are lockers? is it worth it to bring a cooler?

also, we'll be driving, so gas and parking fees are also in there

Wow! That's a great deal on the hotel!

We packed a cooler for all our snacks and drinks as well as lunch one day. We did breakfast most days at our hotel, which had a full kitchen. We only booked one nice meal per day and we had a blast.

It would be really nice to eat all our meals at the fancy restaurants, but we just couldn't afford to do that.

Well if your driving you could always bring a cooler from home for h2o,cokes. Buy/bring lunchmeat or pb&j to fix sandwiches. Take snack food.sand and h2o in your backpack to take to the parks.You can rent a locker for $5 or 6 a day and you'll get part of that back. Ice water is free at most QS places.

You really found some place in Orlando that you can stay for $350 for 14 days?!
Makes me wonder what kind of place it is. Maybe that's the mom in me questioning how clean/safe it is Better check it out pretty good. Don't want to have to worry about ya

Just wondering. could you give a name and location for the hotel so we may be able to comment on it, and how difficult or easy it will be to get to Parks from there.

When are you going? If you are going in summer or early fall, and have kids, you could get the YES tickets for a lot less.

Also, just make sure the hotel is in a safe location and not too far from the parks. It wouldn't be worth the savings if you felt unsafe. If its too far from the parks, your savings will be eaten up by gas and losing so much time. Did you use Priceline or something? I know I've seen people get 3* for that price, so it may be a decent hotel.

Bring your cooler with you if the hotel does not have a fridge. That will save money, because you could bring drinks, milk, sandwich meat, cheese, etc. In the parks, you can get free ice water at any restaurant or kiosk. We bring little flavor packs to add in. That saves us lots of money over sodas or bottled water. We also bring in a few snacks, like pringles and fruit snacks(things that won't crush or melt) just for those in between times. For meals in the parks, we share meals or get kids meals(CS). Sometimes we just get lunch when we leave for our midday break and get dinner before coming back(at the condo or offsite).

I'd love to spend 2 weeks at Disney. So far, the closest we've gotten in 10 days.

you might have to pay just a bit more but you would get lots of space if you got a condo through Skyauction.com or skyselect.skyauction.com. That way you could have a full kitchen. Not that you have to cook but I like a regular fridge and mic, toaster for bagels, etc.

For example, one auction just ended with no one bidding so someone could have gotten it for $1. It was for any 1 bedroom suite (they had a huge list to choose from) for $1. Taxes and fees were $315 so total $316 for 7 nights, dates were from now through Dec. 18th.

I've only gotten 2 bedroom condos but that's just to let you know what's out there.

I've used skyauction many times. It's a great way to get a great condo at a discount hotel price. If you want to know more you can search the Orlando Hotels and Attractions board.

ETA: I see one on there for a 2 bed. for total of $216. I don't know your dates so I don't know what's available for your time.

I would check out that hotel with a fine tooth comb....sounds awfully cheap for a nice hotel. We booked a hotel off property once (1999) and the pictures looked wonderful online. When we arrived, it backed up to a parking lot carnival, had nasty carpets, it was dirty, and you had to leave a deposit for the remote and dishes We hightailed it out of there and found another hotel (for more money of course) but it was worth it for our sanity and safety. We have stayed on property ever since, but Im sure there are some nice places off too.....I would just be very choosy and read lots of reviews

I'm pretty picky at where I stay but most of these places I would take over a bad hotel in Orlando in a NY minute!

If I see any blowout deals I will let you know. We love the blowout deals! They range from about $149-$249 per 7 night stay including all taxes and fees.

I would opt for a condo too for that length of stay, you will be far more comfortable. Kitchen for some of your own food and to store leftovers and heat them up, multiple TVs if you care to veg and don't want to watch the same thing.....heck, just having space to not have to go to bed at the same time is great. And yes, the laundry is GREAT! With 5 of us, I find we do laundry almost daily to every other day and just take 3 changes of clothes with us. We love it!

Orbit One (nice and offers $5 waterparks to LikKi Tikki)
Vacation Village (no longer offered)
Westgate (do NOT go there!)
Florida Vacation Villas (our new fav as it has wireless!)
Celebrity Resofts (eh, not our favorite but ok)

Now, we have to get a 2 bedroom as we have 5 of us. If you only need a 1 bedroom you have more options.

OP our cheapest trip to date was saying at a condo. We drove in a pickup so we brought 2 ice chests. One had drinks and water. The other had food that we cooked at home and froze. We had 5 or 6 days where all we had to do was heat up the food and maybe cook rice. In addition we brought a med. size stroller. We put drinks, & snacks in a small cooler in the bottom of the stroller, that way we didn't have to pay for a locker. We cooked breakfast each morning, so we only had one counter service meal in the park each day.

I have seen some cheap ones but not that cheap. On ebay, you might find some good ones but a lot or most are for 4 or 5 nights. And people are buying the actual timeshare on ebay for $1 but then they might have maintenance fees of $800 or more a year. I'd rather just rent the week.

Well, you could bid up to like $385 and it would still only be $100 a night. THat is awesome for that resort. This is one of Wyndham's crown jewels, a very highly rated resort. AND the only non-DVC timshare-like place ON Disney property so you are paying for that too.

I would be very cautious in staying in a motel that cost that little especially if there are children. If money was that tight I would give up MVMCP and add that money to upgrade to better accomodations. You will be there long enough to enjoy disney and all the decorations anyways. The party is certainly fun but that is one night versus 14. Whatever you decide have a magical trip.
