2/6/2011 - 4 Night Dream - Update 3/5 Animator's Palette

Early Afternoon Adventures

After Palo, we went back to the room to change into something more comfortable and explored the ship some more.

View from the virtual porthole!

The DVC thing was going on with a chance for $300 on board credit and we thought why not? We had nothing else to really do.

441wh.jpg

I knew way too many of the question's answers but I tried to behave myself but I did win a 'cool' prize - a wooden box.

442l.jpg

As much as we would love to buy into DVC, we just can't justify it. Within a year (or sooner after some job issues popped up after I returned) we want to be living in Florida. If we are within an hour or so of Disney, having DVC just doesn't make too much sense for us unless we bought a 50 point contract just so we could have the additional discounts.

We didn't win the credit and were on our way to explore more of the ship.

It was getting close to my time for the wine tasting so my husband and I parted ways!

Wine Tasting

I headed up to Meridian where the Wine Tasting was to be held. I was a little bit early so I sat outside in the cigar area and read until it was time.

The tables and little drink tables were set up for about 20 wine tasters. Only about 7 showed up. Sadly a lot of that wine went to waste since we ran over on time.

The talk was ok. I've done a lot of wine tastings through Disney but this seemed to be less about the wine we were drinking and more about what the Dream offers and the various terms there are out there for wine. In fact 3 weeks out I can't recall what the wines were other than the champagne was the Dream's special label. For the cost it was ok. I'm not sure I would do it again though.

Whiskey Tasting

After the wine tasting, I ran back to the room for a few minutes and pick up the Wave Phone that was charging and headed back down to Pink for my Whiskey Tasting.

The lounge was set up for about 10 people to taste 4 different whiskeys.

Well at the time it was suppose to start, I was the only one.
The host decided to wait a few minutes and we chatted. Turns out her first contract was when I was on my first DCL cruise and laughed over some stories about a certain individual.

Eventually 2 other people showed up and we could get started. She went over the history of Whiskey really well along with the tasting notes of different ones. I discovered I still can not handle Jameson after a really bad night when I turned 21 but I loved the Johnny Walker and the other brand I can't remember its name now. The 4th selection was Maker's Mark but I drink that at home so I knew I would enjoy it. We also got a small sip of one of the really expensive whiskeys that I should have written down as it was amazing.

We ran over in time and I looked my phone and realized my husband called me 7 times! Eek. So I left and went back to the room.

We both were a little hungry so we walked up to the pool deck for a small snack. I had a chicken finger and my husband had some ice cream.

Its kinda like a secret santa gift exchange among people in your meet thread that want to partake in it. If you want to participate you make a small little gift for everyone that is in the group (some make cabin only gifts some do cabin gifts + each child gifts) Its tons of fun to have some surprises waiting for you at random times!

What a neat idea!

when i did the wine tasting on the magic, they gave us a pin... did you get one on the dream for any of the tastings ?? :)

It is. My husband thought it was really cool coming back to the room and seeing little random gifts.

Yup we were given a pin that had from Stem to Stern written on it but I think I lost it already or its at the bottom of my camera bag. :/

Believe! Part 1

My husband wanted to watch a movie after dinner but I still wanted to see Believe. So we compromised and decided to see if we could get seated at the 5pm showing. It was empty - in fact, we were able to get our box seats I had enjoyed for the other two shows as no one was at the upper level.

Overall we enjoyed the show but it wasn't our favorite. We were glad to have seen it once.

Animator's Palette

Leaving the show we headed back to our evening's meal - Animator's Palette.

Bread

My husband and I both had:
582pa.jpg

Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes - pasta purse filled with trufflec scented cheese and coated with a delicate champagne sauce

I loved them and could have had more!

Around this time the room became alive with the Finding Nemo characters.

Our next course came out:
588r.jpg

Baked Potato and Cheddar Cheese Soup with bacon bits and chives

We thought it was ok - not our favorite thing at all.

Our entrées were disappointments overall.

My husband's:
592h.jpg

Marinated Angus Beef Tenderloin carved to order on wasabi mashed potatoes with bok choy and a tamarind-barbecue reduction

Mine:
591m.jpg

White Shrimp Pennette Pasta tossed with a basil and Reggiano Parmesan cheese sauce and topped with a parmesan cheese wafer

We were kinda bleh with our entrees and our service was kinda sucking too. Our server could kinda tell we weren't happy overall. We barely even saw the Assistance Server.

Dessert:

594.jpg

Cookies and Cream Sundae - vanilla ice cream, chocolate wafer cookies, and whipped cream

I enjoyed this at least.

595t.jpg

Chocolate Brownie Cheesecake with whipped cream and raspberry coulis

My husband liked this too.

Our head server never visited us at all. When we finished with our desserts we were kinda were abandoned as we thought they would have at least acknowledged our anniversary as it was noted. Instead we got nothing and from pictures from the Dream - the cake looked good. I also was mad that I prepaid the head server's tip that morning as well she didn't deserve the tip she got as we saw her once for about 2 minutes the 2nd night and nothing more.

Evening Adventures

After dinner we headed back to the room and put our luggage out for the next day.

596ya.jpg

Towel animal flower waiting for us!

We headed up to the movie threatre as my husband wanted to watch Tron in 3D but not pay the $15 perperson or whatever it is at home to see it. We didn't like the snack foods available at the concession stand by theatre so I ran to the shop and got some cotton candy and gummies.

Tron was really good.

Afterwards we walked around the ship and went to bed, sad that our vacation was over.
