Todd & Nicki, a belated Valentine's present...weekend at Disney!

I am in here too!

Sorry it took me so long to subscribe, I was otherwise occupied! :rotfl2:

Haven't had time to read yet, but will do tonight, IF I can still keep my eyes open after dinner at California Grill! ;)

Talk to you soon - it was a blast meeting you!

Yay... another Nicki report! I gotta try that Canto Loopy. Sounds yummy... Thanks for sharing your weekend report with us!

Dangit! Your review of Yachtsman is going to make me change my ressies and put it in...i keep hearing good reviews so its time to put it back on my Signature rotation.

Jill in CO

That is why I booked it, all the lastest reviews were so positive that I had to try it for myself!

I am telling you that they need to put a Starbucks in every resort to make you and I happy for our morning coffee. IF we ever get there at the same time, I'll just drive and go get our coffee at SB's every a.m.

And of course the stomach was grumbling...he hadn't been fed in 12 hours at least. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I agree with this! They would make a fortune and both of us would go to Starbucks and wind up spending the day there gabbing away! Todd must eat every few hours or he turns into a nightmare!

Nicki, Glad to see someone else who needs their coffee. I felt a little strange writing in my report that I had 5 espressos in the morning. That's the thing I hate about Disney. No matter where you go you have to search for a good cup of coffee. This year I brought my own blend so I could make that first cup in the room. I'm bummed, I never saw that berry bread pudding when I was there, it sure looks good.

Jane, I can go a day without coffee but no more than that or I get nuts! My usual Mon-Fri is a quad non fat no foam sugar free vanilla latte from Starbucks but on the weekend I dont need coffee...go figure! At WDW we usually have a TS for breakfast at least every other day so I can get my fix, somewhat fix! That bread pudding was to die for..I told Todd that is what I want to eat every time we go to Epcot!

It's not even 5 hours after you first start this DR and I only make it to the 3rd page?!?!?! :rotfl2: Girl, you are one popular dining reviewer!

Sorry I missed you guys this weekend! I have tentative dates for Oct 27-30. A friend and I booked at the Yacht Club  so we'll be close to Epcot (and have use of SAB!). We need to give our La Cava meet another try!

Hi Cathy! How are you honey? I am doing my best to keep up but SOMEONE who shall remain nameless had the nerve to ask me to make dinner

I hope you guys go at that time because we will be there and this time there will be a meet! Todd and I were talking it over and if the discounts are nice we hope to stay at the YC or the BWI, if not the entire 10 nights at least half of them as I want to spend alot of time at F&W!

Yay!! I've been waiting for this review ever since I saw your ticker! LOVE LOVE LOVE your reviews, you always make me laugh! :) Glad you liked the Yachtsman, we are going the end of October and DH wants to try it. Our dinner at Le Cellier was horrible last time so we want to try somewhere new. Can't wait for more..

LOL...ME TOO! So glad you are here to enjoy them! I hope you love the Yachtsman as much as we did...I really want to try LC since it will be signature in Oct..see you there!

Well the nerve of you having fun in Disney World instead of sitting in the room reading my dining reviews :lmao:

I am so glad you are following along, I am tagging along on your live trip too! Have a wonderful dinner you too, say HI to Ron!

Yay... another Nicki report! I gotta try that Canto Loopy. Sounds yummy... Thanks for sharing your weekend report with us!

It was wonderful, if you love vodka you will love it! Thanks for joining in the madness :rotfl2:

Great reviews as usual!:thumbsup2

Thanks so much!

Yea! So excited to join in. My year was so empty with only 1 MickeyNicki review!

My year was so long without a trip! I dont know how I did it last year with just one trip LOL

I am trying to get away in May too so Todd can go for his birthday and wear the button and get the entire place to sing to him for a change :rotfl:

joining in and love your reviews. I can't believe Todd did not like his meal at VN (he loved it last time). I can't wait to read more....popcorn::

Where did I leave off? Oh yes, listening to Todd bellyache about his lousy lunch at VN and reminding me not to book it for our next trip...I was very quick to remind him that it was his decision to reserve it in the first place!

The crowds were getting nuts now, they could swallow us up so we spent alot of time in the gift shops and the shows etc...we were headed to the French Impressionist show and I was telling DH how much I liked it when I saw it solo and it was in need of an update when I hear this "HEY NIC"

I look back and he is no where to be seen but I can hear him

TODD: Hey Nic, whats this?

I start to walk to where he is pointing and say

ME: Ha ha funny man, you know what that is

TODD: There is a long line, is it a new ride? (Picture a gleam in his him and a grin on his face)

ME: Yeah its a ride and I guess you want to go on it right?

The "ride" he is speaking of is one to his stomach...he is speaking about the French Bakery! He gives me a kiss and says lets go...and off we went to feed the never ending pit I live with every day. Cant stay too mad at him as this is a Dis picture opportunity!

Have you ever been to this place and pick the wrong line? I mean the food is the same on both sides but the people that are in front of you hem and haw about what to get? We had this huge family in front of us and they didnt know what anything was and they changed their mind a million times..which gave my DH plenty of time to do the same :lmao: The menu board behind the counters do not match what is in the cases and the family was trying to order items off that menu and the CM's kept telling them they could only have what is in the cases....I think it would be wise to take the menus down :lmao:

Out of all the choices Todd said he was going to get he suprised me by going with his old standby, the eclair. He enjoyed it, I dont like stuff like that so more power to him

FebDisneyTrip094.jpg

Spending all that time in line made me want to get something and I went out of my norm and had the beignet. This is not your normal beignet....this is a gross nasty donut that has 2 raspberries in it and gave me heartburn from one bite...Todd didnt believe me so he tried it and said it was pretty bad. I knew I should have picked the strawberry tart!

FebDisneyTrip095.jpg

FebDisneyTrip097.jpg

As we left France we were mobbed by people, between the topiaries, Marie the Cat and Aurora all within the same area we could not get out...we could not get to the bridge...it was insanity

Finally we were outta there and made it to the boat. Time for a rest at the resort before going to dinner.

Saturday was jamming at Epcot...people were packed like sardines and the wait times were outrageous. We ran to the countries for safety but it was insane there too!

As if the boy didnt get enough to eat for breakfast and let us not forget the pretzel at 9:20 am...he had to get another stinking egg roll!

FebDisneyTrip066.jpg

Well if you are going to do that then I am going to have a Peach Snap at 11am and I dont care what you say about it! He was not going for that so he had a plain Peach Oolong Ice Tea

FebDisneyTrip067.jpg

Also in China at the Joy of Tea stand they have pork buns and little pastries with spicy chicken in them

FebDisneyTrip065.jpg

Thankfully that held the boy over until lunch...this was his pick, REMEMBER, very important to remember that Todd picked lunch ok....I will touch on this later.

Over to Via Napoli, the love of my love's life this past November...as you recall we ate there not once, not twice but THREE times!! Of course he had to have it...he drove me nuts asking me to make sure we were eating there.

So yeah, remember that

We checked in and were seated right away...the place was slamming and there was a huge line out the door. An adorable waiter came over to take our order. We both had Acqua Panna

FebDisneyTrip074.jpg

I was surprised when they brought us bread and olive oil since we didnt get that on any of our visits last year. The oil was excellent, the bread was hard and dried out

FebDisneyTrip073.jpg

FebDisneyTrip075.jpg

New menu too...you can add your own toppings...or maybe that was on it and I forgot

FebDisneyTrip070.jpg

FebDisneyTrip069.jpg

FebDisneyTrip068.jpg

FebDisneyTrip071.jpg

FebDisneyTrip072.jpg

This is where DH has a brain fart and forgets things

TODD: I am going to get the Arancini

ME: You dont like that...lets not repeat MK ok?

TODD: No I really liked that the last time

ME: No you liked the ones from Citicos not here

TODD: You cannot possible remember

ME: Wanna bet? I dont Dis for nuttin pal

But the goof orders it anyways and is shocked when he doesnt like it. Not the sauce, not the stickiness of the filling, not the flavor...nothing. They were terrible....

FebDisneyTrip076.jpg

ME: Whats the matter? Mad cuz I'm right or mad cuz you didnt listen?

TODD: Yeah yeah I know, Nicki Know It All, right again

ME: Helps if you remember that the next time pal, save us all alot of time and trouble

Ah men...the joys of marriage LOL

I wasnt that hungry so I had the salad for two which as I remembered was enough for one (at least I pay attention when I speak) and that was a great salad, full of mixed greens and peppers with a nice spicy red wine vinegar dressing. I was not in danger of DH eating it as he calls that type of salad grass LOL

FebDisneyTrip077.jpg

He opted for a mushroom pizza...but wait, where are the mushrooms I paid $2 for???

FebDisneyTrip078.jpg

He was picking at it and he ate it but he didnt look too happy. I asked if he didnt like the mushrooms and he said the pizza was completely different, last time there was a ton of sauce and tons of cheese and this time not so much....ok so THAT you remember but the fact that you didnt like the rice balls slipped your mind? I finished off the half piece he left behind and I thought it was fine.

As we were leaving he told me that he wasnt so thrilled with VN this trip and to skip it next time. I am gonna add it in though because you just never know with that man of mine!

Okay, do we or don't we? You know that I put Via Napoli at the very top of my list as our must do for September because of your rave reviews in November. Now, Todd's not liking what he had and I don't know what to do. Now, don't forget....me and pizza...not a good combo these days. What do you say?

See, not only are we long lost sisters, but I think Todd and Mark are long lost brothers. He orders the eclair every time too. Not a fan at all. But that chocolate cake in the case looks awfully yummy.

After a nap and some relaxation it was time for dinner. At first I had booked the Cape May Clambake on Fri night but switched our plans when I read there was fried shrimp on Saturday nights...I was so shocked to see that I could swap the YM and CMCB just 2 days before we arrived. DH was thrilled as we both love fried shrimp!

We arrived right on time and were seated right away except they wanted to seat us in that little room off the entrance and DH wasnt having it so they said no problem and sat the King of Crab in front of the buffet. We had the same waitress as we did in Nov 2010, Anne Marie, and she remembered us and gave us the best service ever! At one point I was lifting my plate to put on the end of the table and she came around behind me and took it right out of my hands...now that is service!

To start we had a Magical Star cocktail for me (I had another one without ice later since the first one was all ice) and a Pina Colada for DH

FebDisneyTrip100.jpg

FebDisneyTrip101.jpg

Now let me tell you that the place was a mob scene, not all the tables were full but the buffet was just loaded with hoards of people...total nightmare. At many times the entire buffet seemed to be out of all the foods with the exception on crab legs, they never ever ran out of crab legs. Since it was so busy, since they were out of food alot and since the food was exactly the same I will be posting pics from our Nov trip...hope that is ok with you guys.

This is one of many plates of crab that DH devoured that night, this is a pic from this trip

FebDisneyTrip098.jpg

Little neck clams for DH, first plate of many..he said they were much larger than the Nov 2010 ones but a bit sandy and gritty. He also picked up some fried shrimp and they were HORRID :scared1: The amonia taste was overwhelming and after one bite we each spit it out....ok no problem maybe we will try another batch when they bring out more. Well they did bring out more, pipping hot and fresh and the taste was soooo bad, just total amonia smell. Anne Marie came by as I was pushing the plate away and told me she would notify the chef. He never came by and the shrimp was never taken off the buffet. It is such a shame because they looked so good.

FebDisneyTrip099.jpg

Both sides had crab and clams, one side more seafood and the other more regular foods

Nov19CapeMay001.jpg

Snow crab legs, we ate a ton because they kept putting our fresh ones and the people that were dining there seemed to concentrate on the crab as well. The meat was sweet and tender, hot and juicy and when you snapped the leg the meat came out in one huge long piece, no sticking to the shell or shredding into pieces.

Nov19CapeMay002.jpg

The littlenecks on the left The boiled potatoes were perfect and not soggy or mushy

Nov19CapeMay003.jpg

Mashed potatoes (this trip they didnt have the basil pesto on them and the gravy was still there)

Nov19CapeMay004.jpg

The ribs were fantastic, very tangy and sweet and all meat, not one bit of fat on them. I had alot..I wont deny it but we had to fight to get them because the people would load up one plate with nothing but ribs and by the time you got to them the dish was empty

Nov19CapeMay007.jpg

The cabbage dish on the left (we skipped it) and the roasted chicken on the right.

Nov19CapeMay006.jpg

Beef tips on the left, heavy flavor of onions and peppers. The meat was tender but the flavor was too strong for more than a bite. The pasta on the right was excellent and cooked al dente, the sauce was tasty and cheesy

Nov19CapeMay005.jpg

Carrots and string beans from the kids table, very good

Nov19CapeMay009.jpg

Kids pizza, we skipped it

Nov19CapeMay011.jpg

Chicken nuggets from kids table, they were all white meat and very tasty

Nov19CapeMay010.jpg

Mac & Cheese from kids table. I know it is orange but it really was white and very creamy and tasty, Todd loved it and he isnt a mac/cheese kinda guy

Nov19CapeMay008.jpg

Sunflower seed rolls - skipped it

Nov19CapeMay012.jpg

Corn bread on the left that were outstanding and soft yeasty heavenly rolls on the right...we ate sooo much of both of these

Nov19CapeMay013.jpg

Sliced beef

Nov19CapeMay014.jpg

Sliced pork

Nov19CapeMay015.jpg

Clam chowder and this trip they had Navy Bean, looked like Campbells Soup

Nov19CapeMay016.jpg

Fried cod pieces on the left *they didnt have this on Sat night, they had the fried shrimp instead. Tortellini in a lobster cream sauce, too fishy tasting

Nov19CapeMay028.jpg

Mushy corn on the cob (so said the King) and steamed talapia (skipped this)

Nov19CapeMay018.jpg

Seafood pot pie and mussels (we skipped these)

Nov19CapeMay017.jpg

Fruit

Nov19CapeMay020.jpg

Salad fixings

Nov19CapeMay024.jpg

Nov19CapeMay022.jpg

Cape May Salad with walnuts, bleu cheese and cranberries...I love this!

Nov19CapeMay023.jpg

Caesar salad

Nov19CapeMay021.jpg

Homemade croutons....these ROCK!

Nov19CapeMay025.jpg

Shrimp cocktail and chicken pasta salad

Nov19CapeMay029.jpg

Cole slaw, mixed marinated olives (Todd loved them), tomato cucumber and onion salad (he loved this too)

Nov19CapeMay026.jpg

More salads, orzo and a cous cous

Nov19CapeMay027.jpg

Onto desserts!

Nov19CapeMay036.jpg

Nov19CapeMay035.jpg

Flan, we skipped it

Nov19CapeMay038.jpg

Chocolate chip cookies (awesome!) and brownies

Nov19CapeMay040.jpg

Vanilla cupcake (greasy), sugar cookies, oatmeal cookies and peanut butter chocolate chip Blondies (INCREDIBLE!)

Nov19CapeMay037.jpg

Oreo Bon Bons...to die for! Raspberry cheesecake

Nov19CapeMay030.jpg

Flan and key lime tarts

Nov19CapeMay031.jpg

Todd's dessert plate

Nov19CapeMay033.jpg

When we left here we were very full so we walked back to the Dolphin...neither of us could believe that we were leaving the next day but we still have one more day to review and it is a very special day so stay tuned!

[/

joining in and love your reviews. I can't believe Todd did not like his meal at VN (he loved it last time). I can't wait to read more....popcorn::

You and me both...he loved it so much on our last trip and honestly I didnt think the pizza was that different but he considers himself to be a conniseur on the subject :lmao:

lovin' the new report! thanks!

Thanks for reading along!

Okay, do we or don't we? You know that I put Via Napoli at the very top of my list as our must do for September because of your rave reviews in November. Now, Todd's not liking what he had and I don't know what to do. Now, don't forget....me and pizza...not a good combo these days. What do you say?

I say do because it is very good, I love the pasta, the pizza and the salad....maybe Todd just had an off time because he had those icky little arancini! Most people were eating spaghetti and meatballs and we had those in Nov and loved it!

See, not only are we long lost sisters, but I think Todd and Mark are long lost brothers. He orders the eclair every time too. Not a fan at all. But that chocolate cake in the case looks awfully yummy.

Yes they def are! I will touch on that cake a bit later.....

Sunday morning was our last day but I was really looking forward to it as we finally get to meet Karin and Tom (dizneeat) after 3 years of emailing and chatting and becoming great friends and Tina, Mark and their son Max (tinacaplan) who I have been chatting with for a year. We were all going to a very early breakfast at Cape May Cafe!

We were up at 6am and had to walk in the cold weather, hey 55 to us Floridians is COLD! We were dressed for the walk but didnt expect the resort and the restaurant to have the heat on so we were warm really fast! Too warm in fact!

I think we were a bit early so we sat and waited in the benches to the left of the check in desk .....in about a minute or two for some reason I turn my head to the desk at the same time Tina does and she is waving and then I am waving and then we are hugging and she forgets all about checking us in for breakfast :rotfl2:

I swear it was like I have known her my entire life! Then Mark and Max came over and Karin and Tom came in and all of us were hugging and laughing and having a grand old time!

We were seated in the back of the restaurant at a nice round table so we could all see each other and visit. Max is adorable and all he wanted was his watermelon and to see the characters! Smart boy!

None of us were worried about eating, we just wanted to gab away! I dont think any of us ate much at all, some fruit and a little breakfast but we still sat there for 90 minutes!

It was Mark's birthday so they sang to him and he received a chocolate cupcake that Max had his eye on.

I will admit, NONE of us took pics of food although I think Tom might have snuck up at the buffet to get some, he is a great photographer and has the most amazing camera that Karin joked was for Disney only :lmao:

We all exchanged gifts, Karin and Tom made the most amazing DVD for us on Austria and Tina made us scarfs with DIS names on them....LOVED IT! I gave them all Disney snack bags because according to my hubby you need that kind of stuff when you are relaxing at the resort :rotfl:

As we were leaving I promised I would send them pictures of the buffet from November since it was the exact same food

Little Max said he had a great time, you should have seen him with the characters, it was adorable! Tom was great at taking pics, I am sure you will see them on their dining review and trip review.

As we were all walking outside to leave Max helped us pick a place for pictures, he held my hand and we walked around until he decided to take them in front of the butterfly shrubbery.

Here are a few Todd took for me...he forgot all about it until the last minute but I know Tom took tons and on his camera he has one with all 7 of us.

It was such a wonderful time, both of us were so glad to meet everyone! The best people are Disers!

just reading along here:rolleyes1 well I read all of your dining reports!! I am scared though after the dinner at Cape May! We ate there last April and it was a Calamari night, my DH and DS 12 love that stuff but me NO WAY I booked this April's trip to Cape May on a Fried Shrimp night:scared1: what was wrong with it???? OK so now I need a new ADR for our Epcot night.:lmao:

Nicki, great photos. EVEN though you WOKE me up on Sunday a.m., I am so glad that you called so that I could talk to Karin and Tina. Unfortunately, unless I fly solo, I'll never get there in February becasue that is when Mark has a show and then heads to Vegas, so it was great finally being able to "meet" Karin and Tina by phone after all the chatter on the DIS.
