Dole Whip Meet June 4th -- I'd love it to be a memorial to both Rob and Bruce

With the very sad news of Rob's passing, those of you coming to Gay Days this year I'd love to have the Dole Whip meet be in Rob's Memory on June 4th. He was such a vital part of this online community so I think it will be nice as those of us who live afar can gather and share some laughs and smiles and celebrate Rob's life.

At the same time our forum has also lost Bruce earlier this year, the beloved partner of Bob who frequents here who equally deserves to be remembered by us all.

I had a small poll going as to what time to do the Dole Whip meet and 4pm (After the parade) seemed to be the most popular time and so we'll go with that.

Saturday, June 4, 2011 -- 4:00pm : Dole Whip Meet in Memory of Rob and Bruce.

Please join us-- bring your stories, bring your memories but most importantly bring your smiles and laughter as we celebrate the lives of two men that have left this earth far too young.

My dear TagsMissy,

I would greatly appreciate that. Gay Days, at this point, will be my first trip to WDW since Bruce died. Even if I do get a day in while I'm in Orlando in May, it will be my first Gay Days going by myself (I've always gone with Bruce or, before Bruce, with now ex-friends). I don't know what it's going to be like without Bruce and I won't until I actually get there. I do know that I will need my friends and other understanding people around me.

Luv 'n' Stuff
Bob

I hope you are doing better, day by day as they say. Just know that we'll all be there for you throughout the days and know it's OK if you need a quiet moment alone to shed a tear. I, personally, cannot fathom how I'd react to losing my husband and how brave it is to make that first trip. To lose a parent, grandparent is one thing, to lose a partner is a whole other thing.

We'll see you in a few months, I cannot believe the time has gone by so quickly from when i booked to when we'll all start to gather.

If you forward me info on the drinks meeting at AKL I can add it to the first page of the Gay Days sticky.

I don't even know what a Dole Whip meet is, and I hope that y'all do this in honor of Rob and Bruce. I am guessing that you mean Dole Whip pineapple. It sounds sweet in both senses of the term Tagmiss. The whole point of a memorial is not that a death has occurred but that a life has been lived, and your idea is a lovely reminder of that.

Yup a meeting at the Dole Whip stand to remember :)

I have never made this meeting but really plan to this year. Where is the stand?

Aloha Isle, pretty much the first refreshment stand on the right as you enter Adventureland from the Hub. See you there!

The Aloha Isle is right after you cross the bridge to Adventureland on the right, before you get to the Swiss Family Treehouse. Also refered to as the Dole Whip Stand.

The Sunshine Tree Terrace is directly to the right of the Tiki Room exit.

Here's a picture of the DISboards group from the Dole whip meet. I stole it from Thommy's (zulemara) facebook page since I didn't get one taken with my camera. LOL.
